These Forums seem to be filled with people who hate each other. Australians, Americans, Brits, Canadians, French, Germans and more. I feel like very few of you would ever really belong in a Universe like the one created by Roddenberry. As you play the game, and fancy yourself a Captain in the far, far future...maybe think a little bit about the concept that any United Federation of Planets would be ultimately created based upon acceptance and interest in other cultures...

...or you can just play a Klingon.

The UFP would probably have some sort of standard timezone for when you're in space.

i just think to many people are busy hate mongering... game ain't perfect, guess what, neither is anything else in this world. suck it up all of the people that complain on these forums are just so pathetic in the since that they are generally just angry.... over a ****in game.... and granted i've gotten angry too. but that was once... and it didn't even take me 15 minutes to realize how stupid i was... and shut the hell up and deal...

i just hate that i'm going to be playing this game with a bunch of children... and i say children cause thats how the adult population is acting simply because this isn't exactly what they want...

i'm half tempted to /roll a Klingon just so i have a place to strike out at all these pathetic trekkie whine ***s that are going to end up ruining the game.... just like they have ruined every other aspect of the franchise throught overtly prissy and picky ********...

    /endrant.

Nope, read carefully the threads bashing any nationality, you'll find many posts saying how moronic this attitude is and they come from players from all around the world.

I'm sorry we're ruining your LARPing experience. I'll be equipping Mark VI Rainbow Makers and Photonic Cuddly Pink Teady Bear Launchers on my bird of prey immediately following this post.

And then I'm coming looking for you - to give you a hug and let you know that the world of Gene Roddenberry is indeed alive and well, and that your perfect fantasy reality has indeed not been shattered into a thousand tiny pieces.

Please be sitting at your computer with your uniform and communicator on so that you are ready for transport to my bridge when I arrive!

    Thanks,

    - your Klingon friend

We're working out our differences and laying the groundwork for the utopian future that Roddenberry envisioned. Mostly that will come about through mass bans that leave only the unopinionated left on the forums, I imagine.

Ah ah sarcasms from a man, a real one who kills zillion behind his computer ... in a game with no death penalty and no non consensual PVP. Sorry to burst your bubble but real PVPers don't play Cryptic's games. :p

Actually, I'll be sitting the house I own in Pacific Palisades, California with the game up on my 72" LED Television, not far from the garage with an Aston Martin in it.

...and I'll wear sweat pants if that's okay by you, but I will most definitely be there in game.

Strictly speaking, the game isn't that great at being Star Trek, either. I was doing one of the Explore missions today. The Federation had abandoned a facility, and some Orions moved in. I was sent to get them out. Why? We abandoned the facility. Why do I now need to go make sure it stays abandoned? If they want it, and we don't, why can't they just have it?

I haven't seen much nationalism except in the maintenance time threads.

My worse fears have so far been averted: Trekkie vs. Trekkie fights. Man can those get brutal. So far it seems Trekkies have been somewhat united, probably because of the common enemy of the "It's just a game" gamers.

Of course.. plenty of shades of gray between.

I would only point out that the Roddenberry Universe was born on the back of the Eugenics Wars and World War III, which ends in 2053, leaving the world devastated by the nuclear holocaust. The people who caused those wars are who we are, not the socialistic idealists of the future. :)

Because they're allies of the Klingons, which the Federation is at war with.
The facility could be turned into a forward base or have its location have some other strategic value or, while nobody is there, perhaps it's still Federation property with Federation resources present.

Mhm, maybe. I haven't been around a Star Wars community since before the prequels. I imagine they might have sparked some discontent in the franchise, which is often what leads to divisions of the fanbase. Trekkies were fine until the IP began to suffer... the differing views as to "why" is what caused the infighting.

If transients move into an abandoned house on your block do you expect the owners (personal or government body) to have them removed or do you expect them to just let the transients have it? :)

that's a great idea, and my new mission, to start WW3. then we can have Roddenberry's worlds. :D:D

I subscribe to the theory that if there is something you want, you take it with you when you leave. And perhaps a little diplomacy and, you know, not shooting them for taking up residence in an abandoned base like four sectors away from anything important might make them not our enemies. Besides, that particular sector of space was pretty much on the Klingon border, so it couldn't be too forward a base. Certainly not dangerous enough for Starfleet to demand I do "whatever it takes" to get them out.

Seemingly you no nothing of war... if a hostile enemy you're at war with tries to establish a base and you have the resources to stop them at minimal risk... you do it. You don't let them fortify the base in hopes that letting them do so might earn you some brownie points.

There's no hate between nationalities here (except when the Brits take a shot at America every now and again), it's more a battle between people who hate the game and won't stop complaining and those of us who actually enjoy it.

The haters will find any little thing to nitpick about simply because they want to ruin it for everyone else because they don't like the game and we foolishly take the bait to defend the game. That's the real struggle going on in the forums.
