When you bring new members of your crew on board you can... em... "Modify" them to your liking. I have taken this and twisted it into a perverse feature of my crew in that no woman is allowed to serve upon my ship without the largest bust size available in game.
Ok... I am a creep. That is what I do.
What I find weird is that I can FORCE female members of the Federation of Planets to get implants before they have the right to serve on my ship. Hugh Hefner in space...
Should this even be available in game? What example is being set in that you are allowed to change not just the costume but the skin color, height, visual age, hair color or the aforementioned bust sizes before someone is allowed to "get a job".
I know... it is just a game. I should apparently stop "freaking out" as is a common bit of advice here on the forum. But I have already admitted that I use this complete lack of Affirmative Action or discriminatory law in Starfleet to my advantage... And I am an adult (by age anyway) and so I can realize that it is just part of the general costume design code.
Nahh... don't think you'd get a Starfleet court martial on your hands until you only promote your male officers and all your females stay ensigns forever.

But still, it is a little dystopian eh?
taking in-game mechanics and comparing them to real-life scenarios can sometimes reveal a humorous juxtaposition.

I do it the other way around... Promote all the women to captain like me so we have to share one captains quarters.
I do not modify my BOs. I prefer to use them as is. I do wish I could allow them to wear my TOS uniforms that I paid extra for.
Technically, they can, for about 1/2 a second before the option snaps back to one of the defaults. Cryptic never said they would be able to keep the uniforms on.
Is that really how you think the military works? The enlisted men get separate quarters and the officers bunk in the same room?
Yes... my jocular comment about something that doesn't even exist in the game (or reality) was due to the fact that I am completely convinced that every Admiral in the Military shares one bedroom.

I was just asking because I haven't meet many people who share my theory.

This actually is based in canon of the TV shows. I would point to both Voyager with "7 of 9" and Enterprise T'Pol when they were added to the crews of those ships this option was implemented.
I noticed the same thing last night when I got a new Vulcan BO and didn't like his name, so I changed it. Then I realized it and made the joke to my wife that throughout his whole life, he was known as "Slan", but if he wanted to serve with me, his name was now "Saavik" because I personally felt it was a more Vulcan-y name.
Makes you feel a lot like Zap Brannigan sometimes.
possibly I am.. however I simply see no fault in your... shall we say.. focus of interest. Now let's stop the derailment before it goes much further..
as for under-thinking being a word... if f34r and \/\/00t are considered words on the internet, I think you're pretty much in the clear.
I admit that my juvinile use of the system may have tainted my point, a point that is pretty weak at best. I was just doing some cosmetic surgery on one of my new officers and I suddenly felt *really* creepy and it caused me to make the post.
Do I feel a bit creeped out when I beam down to a planet and feel like Charlie from "Charlie's Angels" with my squad of 4 hot female officers behind me? Nah.
All I gotta say is Commander Seljek is really enjoying life as a captain of a star ship.

Officers having trouble keeping their uniforms on, hehe...
Anyway! You know it's called customizing. No one is forcing you to bust up your Bridge Officers.
And officers on other ships received jobs just fine without maximum bust sizes. At least on mine they do.
I model my own officers based on characters from past RP campaigns. And I very much like the option to customize them instead of receiving similar-looking clones. Although I admit that it might be pretty awesome to have a bunch of absolutely similar-looking Bridge Officers around.
On second thought, I'm going to go and try that out now.
I had to rename a few of my bridge officers, since they all had names that started with the same letter, and I couldn't tell them apart.
Tho for the ones I changed, I gave them nicknames based on their middle names, rather than renaming them to something unrelated
I guess it depends on how you want to think about it. But I imagine if folks ended up with a bunch of bridge officers with similar names and appearances, and couldn't change them, people would definitely be complaining.
I think Picard used some star fleet merits at one point to change his security officer from a blonde chick into a gruff but lovable klingon. They never really explained if she agreed to that or if it was an order, but meh. It's tv.

They are not implants, they are gene-enhancements for the betterment of the Federation.
Somewhat on topic, there was a study a few years ago that showed men live longer if their wives have large TRIBBLE. The arguement given is that those men had less stress.
I mean... girls right? Can't get enough of them. Or so they say.
Dude, I'm as a dear TRIBBLE friend once put it, "painfully and awkwardly hetero," and even I look at Daniel Craig and get a little shiver. He's like some 1940s Hollywood legend that discovered modern gym workouts.

So much this it's not funny.
Anyone that says otherwise is either not in the military or is an actual officer.
Possibly... but maybe you are under-thinking. (is that a word?)

It would be quite creepy if every female human had blond hair, blue eyes, and the same ponytail...

I suspect your ship's councilors used those descriptions and more in your fitness report!
I would do something about that if I were you.
Just taking after Kirk. I still have an eye out for an Orion Slave Girl to make my #2.
So?
Pffbt, well yeah. He is dreamy.
