I understand Cryptic can not go into too much detail about their security they have in place for obvious reasons.
I am just concerned if Cryptic is intending to use software such as Gameguard to protect it's game and their users. Gameguard is a Anti-hacker software,
Well If they were to, I was going to strongly recommend they use different software to do it, As although Gameguard is very popular for most MMO companies.
It has been nothing but trouble for the past 3 years that Gala used it for Flyff, Gala uses Gameguard for all their games. So to Aeria and they are regretting that choice there has been so many complaints and people having trouble getting it to work with windows 7
So although it is popular and a good program to have, It creates more problems than it does preventing them.
So I just want to strongly encourage that cryptic gets a program like this in place but just dot NOT use gameguard.
As you will end up having to create a seperate board on the forum just for tech-support dealing with gameguard lol.
MMOs dont usually use the common 3rd party security apps you see in FPS games. They DO have quite a bit of built in stuff to keep people from speed hacking, item duplicating etc. However, they still have to rely on us to let them know if someone is exploiting so they can fix the issue.
3rd Party anti-cheats are not standard among the 'real' mmos.
That's right. I called Flyff a 'fake'.
Flyff is a poor- person MMO, I've hated it for a long time but I wasn't going to waste money on another game when I knew STO was coming out. Who would right? I already play WOW before they had the expansion of the level cap from 60 to 70.
Some MMO's major ones have gameguard in place, EVE for 3 months at the start had it then they replaced it. LOTR's uses it now. Just not as noticeable.
why I am interested, if you notice in the game folder on your computer they've made space for a 3rd party program. I just figured they didn't impliment it yet.
