I'm still having this "disconnected from login server" issue.
I have to repeatedly try to login to even get past the character selection screen and even then I get booted after a few seconds of getting on to the sector space screen.
I've tried the usual proxy thing and everything else that I could find to try and fix the problem but no luck. I was really hoping that today's patch would have sorted it but no.
I've paid for a lifetime sub and I'm seriously thinking about cancelling altogether and issuing a cc chargeback as I am unable to play.
Not happy at all.
When I want to login thru the EU Proxy, the game does not connect to account server OR the login server diesconnects me, when I'm entering WIHTOUT EU Proxy, I get in game, BUT the laggs are so horrible, that I can't play the game.
So it does not matter what I do, I Can't play the game at all, wtf messed their up since the Open beta? everyhing ran fine int OB, no horrible lags or so, and now? the game is NOT playable for me.
Got a lot of problems since Wednesday. Disconnect from Server many times and during combat (Starbase 24) ship was tied with a rubber band. Download time for patches became extraordinary long, with a download rate like old times.
Untile Tuesday everything was fine, so what went wrong ? btw all other connections to internet and other games are quiet fine. I cant imagine that germany is too far away Got someelse such problems from europe.
Same deal here with the EU proxy.
Same deal here that everything was fine until Tuesday. If I'm super lucky I may be able to spam my way in and even get to play a mission but as soon as I have to return to sector space, I get disconnected and have to start spamming my way in all over again which takes anything up to an hour. I say up to an hour because I usually get fed up after about an hour and go do something else.
This really isn't acceptable after putting down over £200 for this game.
I'm hoping that its just the lack of server capacity favouring the yanks that are causing these problems for us Europeans and that when they install more servers it will go away otherwise... well its totally unplayable at the moment...
The lack of any official word on our problems does tend to speak volumes...
Just left space, still the same. After finishing a mission "no response" while warping. I dont want to be impatient but I think server capacity is responsibly for that. Does anyone from Cryptic read the lines here ?
I'm still having this "disconnected from login server" issue.
You're not the only one -- I'm having this issue too. I was able to play last weekend just fine (when the server was up anyway) but today I'm disconnecting every two to three minutes. Very annoying!
i am also really dissapointed that i waited all this time to get my disc on pre-order and not had even 30 minutes play online. i'm that mad about this i could snap the disc in two. i can't believe they sell games to people when they don't even get the chance to play coz of the bloody server problems. i'm in the U.k so maybe this time next week i maybe able to play this damn game that i waited sooooo long to get:mad:

I know your pain Keith. I'm in California so I don't think it's a "distance to servers" issue.
Last time I tried logging in (a few minutes ago) I was disconnected before I could holster my phaser rifle.
I can get in game, (usually) but almost every time I switch maps it gives me "server not responding" and boots me. I would also say about half the time when I try to log back in I get disconnected from the account server. It is very frustrating.
Not the only one having the problem i see. I can get to the login...but not the character selection...and am consistently disconnected to the point that I have to close the app for a chance to try again.
Here I was hoping the patch early this am would fix some of it. guess theres another patch comin this weekend.....Oddly, Champions online was laggy and buggy...but I could get into that....wonder what the difference here is?
it's not just a European issue, i'm in the states and having the same issue. When trying to enter the europani system the bar moves a little bit and then says "Server Not Responding" and then DC. VERY frustrating.
Well folks i know what ya mean. i have been researc hing this problem and has not only affected one game but also another and this was before the patch. it was after the patch i staed having the problem. i was going through my entire system until i removed a program and reinstalled and crashed everything. i was fed up and reinstalled the OS and just Star Trek and got the same problem. so this is what i did maybe someone can build off of or tech support.
1> ran cmd> tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com 9usefull for those who use Windows XP)
If you do not use windows XP you will need to download the nettest tool.
This is best used to figure out your route to the server and ping status bet not to have anything over 180
and if you do you may want to check the forum on how to fix that.
2> If you know what you are doing check your event log under system and see if there are any conflicts or errors and most of all if you see a hard drive error you got a papaer weight once you replace it.
3> Did the usuall thing to scan the system for spye/ad ware and viruses.
4> double check and if needed updated Directx, video card drivers.
let you know i still have the problem and i find spmething that actually fixes it i will post here.
I have heard that there is a setting in the internet browser Tools>options not sure which tab still looking for that may be the actual cause for this. i was told its a very minor setting that can cause havoc to even the best of machines.
Here is the thing though, I havn't made any mods or changes to my computer and I suddenly got this issue after the patches. I Played just fine one hour, came back the next and now I am completely unable to log on and I am constantly stuck at the retrieve map screen.
I unfortunately have the same issues. Constant disconnects and "Server not Responding" messages. Sometimes it my whole modem gets knocked offline and I have to wait up to an hour for it to reboot because it gets jammed up on "ranging". I attribute this to STO because I can do anything else online (play games, watch videos, surf web, etc) but as soon as I play STO my modem and internet go TRIBBLE. Very frustrating.
having same problems, constat disconnection(every 5-10 mins) from STO and Champions online, surfing web and playing others MMO works fine, what is the freaking problem? but the biggest problem is no response from Devs

The response from the devs is one of two things.
1) Their proxy servers are overloading and they are working on it.
2) It's your ISP's fault and not Cryptics that you even have to every use a proxy at all.
Ahh cummon Cryptic.. I'm a patient guy but this getting ridiculous.
I haven't been able to play for more than 10 minutes straight for the past 3 nights. Disconnected on 9/10 loading screens. Often I can't log back in. I've tried US, EU and no proxy. Same results. I can't get /netgraph to work anymore, it just shows all 0, but before the patch that started that I was getting around 200 ping (which is a little high but acceptable considering I'm an Oceanic player.) I don't rubberband at all and the game seems quite responsive so it's not my latency. I GET DC'D ON EVERY LOADING SCREEN.
Running a top end gaming rig. (i7, GTX260, 6 gb RAM) Best connection around. No other MMOs have ever given me this problem in 8 years of gaming using the same ISP. I'm still currently playing 2 other MMOs, 1 free and one sub, while I deiced if I want to commit long term to STO. One of them also has servers in Massachusetts (same as STO) and the connection is stable. I enjoy the gameplay from what I've seen so far. But the constant DCs are turning me off.
You Euro's need to knock it off with the anti-US ********!! I'm getting sick of it! You're playing a US game and no it's not just you. I live right in the middle of the US and I have a worthless connection that won't even allow me to play and I know for a fact that there is nothing wrong between my LAN, ISP, WAN connection to the patch server.
So seriously, if you don't like "yanks" that much the GET THE **** OUT OF THIS AMERICAN GAME.
I'm getting this every 15-20 mins. I play other mmos and never have had disconnect problems. I just started playing this game, but if this continues I probably will leave after the free 30 days. Not going to pay money for something that doesn't work. It is very frustrating when this happens when you are in the middle of a quest and you get booted. Had this happen when I completed a rather difficult quest (for a newbie) and had to do it over because it dced me during the completion stage.

Please do not reopen a 4 month old thread for an older issue. The issue here was an issue with the proxy its self. Can you start a new thread with the results of a nettest and a trace route? This will help us determine what could be happening with your internet connection.
Run a trace route:
* Click on Start
* Click on Run, or if using Windows Vista just skip to the next step
* Type cmd into the dialog box and press Enter.
* In the window that opens type "tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com"
* Check the speed listed on the return
If you see any hops over 180ms, this could be the cause of the rubber banding.
How to acquire, run and read the Nettest tool:
Go to http://files.champions-online.com/nettest.exe
Download the application and run it (Windows 7 and Vista users make sure to right click the icon and run as admin if you are having issues with the tool running.)
The Nettest tool checks that the ports required for patching and playing Star Trek Online are not blocked or filtered. Good values returned from the Nettest tool look like:
Column 1 and 3 have values around 500 kb/sec (outgoing/incoming), column 2 has values around 20 kb/sec (transfer rate). If the values in these columns is less than what is expected you may have filtering or blocked ports either on your personal network or from your ISP.
