So far every maintenance the servers have been up at least 30 minutes earlier than stated, today has the smallest patch ever yet server not up with 2 minutes to go. Cryptic you let me down.

For all we know, they are massively patching server side.
We will be bringing down Star Trek Online on Friday, 5th, February from 3am to 6am (11am to 2pm GMT), in order to perform maintenance, and apply a new patch. Keep your eyes here for updates regarding this maintenance.
Update: Due to complications with the maintenance we have extended the window an hour. 3am-7am PST (11am-3pm GMT)

You ever think maybe there are issues beyond this little patch? Hardware? Software?
Seriously, if not playing a GAME is causing you such personal anguish...you should seek counseling for addiction...or just BE PATIENT.
Yeah it stinks, yes it would be nice to play when you can, but do yourself a favor and don't stress out about it.
I reckon they reinstated K7 but the rest of the galaxy vanished, like that episode of TNG were Dr Crusher was in a bubble and the galaxy was getting smaller

The hardware upgrades were supposed to happen 'sometime' this weekend. They could be prepping for that, or maybe actually adding pieces in. Software maintenance is one thing, but when hardware is added into the mix, that's a whole new layer of potential issues to happen.
Also, maintenance windows are an approximation, not set in stone.
They stated the extra DT was due to the addition of new servers. So no need to complain.
That's bull, they aren't adding new servers. I haven't even seen anything relating to this so called extra downtime, it's not on the patcher or the website (for me at least).

Personally, I can live with maintenance being extended, but I absolutely hate having to go and see if it is up again and again, how hard is it for Cryptic to post a message like "Sorry, maintenance has been extended by about 30 minutes" or so? I already found out the hard way that unlike what the launcher stated yesterday, this maintenance suddenly got schedule to be 3 hours long instead of 2, so when I tried to get in on time... server still down, then I go look it up and they sneakily changed the message to 3 hour maintenance.
Instead we have the message in the launcher, which you don't even get to see when you are already in the game while the message is being put there, which sometimes gets modified without a notice, and after that- utter silence on Cryptic's side.
For broadcasting when a server was coming back online, SWG had the best system with the game client's chat rooms where the community relations manager would sit in throughout the downtime to keep the players fully informed.
Of course that system was utterly destroyed with the whole NGE debacle and the chat rooms were never re-opened, but before that happened it was the best downtime experience I've had from any game.
Though personaly, considering this is a trek game, I really wish they could have added a "holodeck" mini-game with the client where you can play a version of the game offline - a simple skermish game where you select the map, your ship, and your enemies. It wouldn't the be very difficult to allow the offline game to recieve notification alerts from the devs throughout the downtime.

Dont talk rubbish.
Its the middle of the morning, perfect time to do this maintenance as the fewest PLAYERS are online, regardless of time zone.

First page of this thread + dev tracker /facepalm
Obviously they were about to open the servers again when they heard a knock on the door. It was the postman with the new servers they ordered
Dev tracker...
If you want to be like that, then the most neutral time is around 1am PST which then hits US players about as much as it hits EU players.
Seriously, if the servers were going down from 11pm to 3pm during any of the US time zones these forums would be smothered in hate.
And to think...some try to captain a complicated starship
My mistake, didn't see it there.
And to think...some try to use the forum constructively!
Not to mention typing skills, it would seem.
lol. the youth of today really lacks reading skills. its a shame
