With potentially millions of players all on one server. Do you Star Trek people want everyone to look the same? We can customize our uniforms, our ships, our species. The devs have already took away /powerhue which I'm quite bitter about and there are no doubt a dozen threads moaning about this issue but I log on here this afternoon and see a thread about not letting the Feds use green distruptors...
Le sigh. Star Trek people might know what's best for Star Trek but MMO players know what's best for an MMO. Be carefull who you listen to Cryptic. One group is more than willing to pay a subscription fee every month and use your lovely C-Store. The other group is an unknown, this is the first Star Trek MMO and no one can say how many of them are going to keep paying that subscription once the initial appeal dies down.
In an MMO, unfortunatly for some, lore & story must take a slight backseat to gameplay & fun.
Unless your Bioware.

True, we don't need another
Read that complain over their, too many threads about this. Who really cares?
I think I like it trekkie instead of some evolved mutant of Star Trek.
As far as the phaser deal went, well I didn't care. I had noticed however that when I was in a furball, that it made it more difficult to see what direction the enemy my weapons auto-targeted was in relation to me which actually diminished some of my piloting effectiveness.
I'f I'm being hit mainly by green disrupters (even a ton load all at once), well as long as my phasers are firing, I could better decide where I wanted to make my ship go. But that was just me who knows.
Give characters flexibility to personalize. The environment itself, should not be "modded" by paying players.
What you like, I don't. What I like you don't.
We'll never all agree as a community. So weapons are what they are. We should use them instead of admire them
I'm missing it completely...
Seriously, people actually wanted pink phasers? Pink?! KILL THEM ALL!
Want to be diffrent? Go be a table dancer in WOW or your local TRIBBLE bar.
No no.... please don't send this guy to a TRIBBLE bar! We don't want him. kkthx.
Or a old school mmorpg player. where we believe the rpg means at least giving us some background to what were doing.
Gadareth
By this person's standard then anything pre-World of Warcraft isn't an MMO. For the most part WoW was the first "seemless" world MMO, which was it's biggest selling point originally.
Hey, I agree with you. Though the local TRIBBLE bar isn't that great. It makes no sense that a military organization with a uniform -isn't- uniformed from an RP perspective. From a gameplay perspective though, it's great for an MMO.
I'm not that old school but I'm a roleplayer, I spend most of my time in WoW on RP servers. I still think gameplay has got to come first though since the vast majority of people aren't big into RP and in this specific case, in an MMO, we need lots of customization.
I like Star Trek a lot, it's a great IP. I've seen most of the TV shows, all of the Picard and onward movies(too young for Kirk), played a fair few games and read a couple of books. If I didn't enjoy the gameplay of Star Trek Online though, I wouldn't be here. If I'm paying a monthly fee for something, I've got to enjoy more than just the universe.
My point is that Cryptic should be carefull which group of fans they listen to because one group is a complete unknown in terms of how long they'll actually stick around.
Naw, I hope they trash star wars lore too. Pink wookies for all!
