In many other games you can /rp, basically it lets others know you are or do role-play. It changes your name color and some even hide what you are (class wise and level wise) I'm just asking for the name color change... would really help to ID those who enjoy role-playing and actively engage in it. I don't think it would be very hard to add but of course cryptic has things already on their platter. Just an idea the devs might want to discuss.
That would be awesome. Cryptic has gone further than other MMOs (in my MMO experience at least) for a player to immerse themselves deeper in the game. With things like Bios and Log Enteries to 'set the stage' so to speak. The part that they fail on is the ability for other players to identify other RPers and have set instances aside for them.
I was never into RPing in a MMO before, but with STO I can see myself more and more leaning towards a RP play type.
Try reading a players "Bio" or "Info". If they took the time to put something in there that seems to fit with the character being in the Star Trek universe then I'd say it's safe to try some RP. If it says "I Ownzorz your Basez", probably not.

I agree with that comment but it would still be easier for those who wish to RP to be more readily identifiable to others and perhaps someone like me who might be in a RP mood can switch a flag on/off for RP mode. Not only that, but with the ability of flagging a RP mode perhaps the server can automatically switch you to RP only instances. Just a thought.
"I know in Champions Online I belong to a channel called 'ChampionsRP' is there a similar, open, channel for this game that could be used by RPers to meet up?"
"All I know how to do is put *RP* in my character bio"
How do you RP in Star Trek, call each other by rank and speak techno-jargon?
 "It's easy to RP in any game. Just imagine that you are the character you create, and not yourself. You talk and act as that creation would in any given situation. By simply using my imagination, creativity, and intellect I can RP in any game you can think of!

There's not enough peeps who know their secondary gravitronic deflector capacitor from their active flux conduit for that to work, but I'd give it a shot Lieutenant.

That sums up exactly how I would approach the situation. Although I certainly wouldn't mind a role-play flag as well.

I vote yes!
Captain the romulan warbird is flooding our ship with anti-neutrinos the we're losing warp core containment. Orders?
Good idea. I have also established an RP Fleet Affiliation which is trying to achieve something similar. Its a group of all those fleets who are RP based and who wish to RP on a bigger scale.
Check us out at starf.webs.com (website is a work in progress so bear with us).
Also, I'm an admin of one of those RP fleets. PM me if you are interested. We RP together whenever we can. 22nd Fleet This is definately a work in prgress.
Comments
i never know who to try n RP with atm lol
Checking out people's bios is a good way to figure out if they RP or not too
I never grief people, but RP'r are always complaining of griefing in game forums.

Right click => ignore => no griefer.

Buck Murdock: I see.
Soldier: What should we do?
Buck Murdock: Make them blink in sequence.
