But holy *(@&*#$ is the lag resolution model in this game @#$%ed. You can't fire. You can't move. And giant dialogs appear over your screen which you CAN'T CLOSE. Wouldn't be so bad if the Klingon space servers (where I've been spending most of time in-game recently) didn't lag so often. Even a halfway competent lag resolution model would at least allow you to attempt to fire your weapons and turn. This is like a really bad joke... On me. And I suppose my fellow players. *sigh*.

"rant" over.

I reiterate my above complaints in triplicate. Stupidly repetitive Kahless Expanse missions made all the more ridiculously painful by mind-numbingly debilitating bouts of STO-Server side lag. In non-prime time.

Game runs fine on quite a lot of different systems. Perhaps you need to update your video drivers or change the proxy settings on the STO launcher? The more technical folks in the Technical forums probably have a ready solution to your computer issue. :)

Thanks for the suggestions. As I understand it, the proxy settings are just for patching, and patching works fine for me. I did check all the files, however, and I updated my video drivers (I don't think they were the problem, but there were newer drivers, so I grabbed them). Server came up recently, I popped on again. Naturally all my Kahless progress had been lost again. I found another Fed fleet and *instant* lag.

Insightful, informative, a brilliant display of enlightened self interest. A tip of the hat to the pair of you.

My computer is slightly better than minimum specs and I have no problem - 2.16 Core Two Duo and a mediocre graphics card.

Edit: and I have crappy DSL. I really am amazed at how well it runs on my computer compared to other new games. WoW runs better but Blizzard has had a lot of practice.

Yeah, it's werid. I think it must be a network topology issue. I have Verizon FIOS as does my friend and we both have lots of connectivity problems to STO, but not for anything else. Their lag resolution model is still terrible. Good to know most people don't have to experience it, though 8).
