Enjoy seeing TOS Constitution ships

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
Though I am not a Gamestop preorderer, so I don't have one, I really like seeing the TOS Constitution class ships.

I was in a sector battle teamed with one yesterday and saw it coming around after an attack pass. I got the classic view as its bow pointed towards me with the round nacelles above the saucer section. My heart went pitter-patter a bit.

I know it's crazy that a rendering of a 3D model of an imaginary starship can give an emotional response, but it did. So there.

Glad to be able to play a Star Trek MMO that doesn't stink.

I hate Gamestop, but pre-ordered from there on purpose just to get this ship. I grew up watching Original Trek reruns with my Trek-fan mom. I'm with you...I don't care if it looks old next to all these new sleek ships; the first time I saw my ship my heart did a little dance too.

What would be nice is after the newness has worn off, they offer the Constitution class for everyone; even if its in the Cryptic store (for $0.125 a point), I'd buy it if I already didn't have it.

As the owner of the gamestop pre-order Constitution class.. thanks. Just seeing it made it worth the purchase, hearing things like this make it even better.

I'll be a little sad when my science officer hits Lt. Commander and gets her science vessel, but until that day Constitution will fly with the classic white-ish color scheme.

Yup, I love my Connie. It will break my heart when I have to move on to another chassis. I wish Cryptic would give us the ability to do some heavy modifications to existing chassis, so you can use a Tier1 ship effectively in higher levels. No real reason why you can't turn a Miranda into a heavy escort...

Even though the Connies don't belong in the timeline, I agree - it wouldn't be Trek without 'em and the in-game TOS Constitution is beautiful - I'm flying a refit at the moment and I love it :)

I've noticed something interesting playing my TOS connie with a bunch of Miranda players.

People adopt me of the leader of the team and follow me. They think of me as the lead ship to charge ahead

I led so many missions that way. It's all psychological.

interesting... I can think of some psychology majors I knew in college that would be interested in studying just how deeply ingrained popular culture is in our psyche.

I saw a TOS Constitution fight next to a Refit Constitution. It was a very interesting sight. Reminded me of a picture I saw on Star Trek Bridge Commander Files. The Refit USS Enterprise passed by a TOS USS Constitution with the caption reading "Captain Kirk to Constitution, you're going to like the new upgrades."

It tend to happen with any cruiser, i saw this phenomena during beta often, particularly in the large random secotr space battles. I even have a few screenies of everyone grouping, even in pseudo formation, around the guy flying the Galaxy class. I found it very amusing, actually :)

None of the UK stores offered the ship which left me gutted as it is my fav ship of all time, that said being it is pretty awesome when one joins the instance you are in. I have to admit, when i see one i do tend to follow them around the battle and fire on their targets, never thought about it before now....

I was an art major, Graphic Design to be specific, so stuff like that goes right over my head cause I'm too busy being bemused by the color of the sky. :p

The original Connie is a superb ship.
I actually shed a few tears when they destroyed her in the "Search for Spock".
Strange how powerful an Image the old NCC-1701 evokes.

Sure is great seeing them in the game.

That MAY have been my connie the Op is talking about. the other day in a sector battle I noticed a few ships fighting outnumbered so I full impulsed in in front of the fed ships and opened up with all phasers, torps. I got a tell from a guy in the Miranda saying how cool it was to see the old school connie fly across his bow.

I wish we could tier the ship up, I would fly her straight through to Admiral

As a Gamestop Preorder, I fully endorse releasing the Connie to everyone via C-store after a few months.
Everyone should be able to fly out into space in the most iconic ship in the game. =)

first time i did the city on the edge of mission in closed beta and i saw that ship...

i was grinning for about an hour straight.

I'm from the UK so missed out completely on being able to get one, but would love if they offered one (even without the blue phasers) on the C-Store at some point.. maybe in a long while however, i dont mind letting those who could pre-order from gamestop enjoy their exclusive ship for a while (esp as i hear that company screwed a lot of people up on it...)

I have one as well. I spent 10 minutes slowly 'flying' around her looking at the rendering. Its very well done. I too wish we could improve ships as we advance because I'd play this ship to the end without looking back. I'm not a Gamestop fan but I HAD to order from them to have this ship.

My compliments to whomever did the skinning for her. :)

As for placing her in the C-Store....I say go for it. With all of the Pre-Order problems across the board (GS, Amazon and so forth) I'd be in favor of offering any and all of the Pre-Order items in the C-Store so that those who got the short end of things can get the items they wanted anyway.

Yeah...but those additional slots (both BO and Weapons) mean a lot down the line. I might keep her into Commander Rank though. :D

I'm still trying to figure out how I'm supposed to get my Connie... Was there supposed to be a code sent to me via email or something, or is it already encoded in the game since I did whole preorder thing?

During the 70's, I maintained a collection of plastic models from TOS. Holding the Enterprise in my hands and zooming it around the room fighting the D7 and Romulan Bird of Prey filled many hours of playtime. Now to be able to control the "virtually" real thing while out warping around the galaxy does get to be emotional at times, especially seeing the collectors rotating on the nacelles. :) Good times then, and good times now.

If youve already input your Gamestop retail code, when in game go the C-Store and it will be in there.

'Tis true. I've done it myself, mainly so I could view the vessel in better detail.

But you won't catch me following any Constitution-class ships named "U.S.S. Constellation" NCC-1017 into the maw of the Doomsday Machine... ;)

    Same here. :)

I love the job Cryptic did in building the TOS Constitution; I especially get a kick that they added the swirling orange pattern to the front of the warp nacelles. I flew around in mine last night and found that I kept myself zoomed into my ship so I could watch all the coolness while it fired blue phasers and such.

By the way, I have read that the blue phasers are specifically linked to the default ones that come with the ship. If you sell the default ones you lose the blue! I did see a Constitution shooting the regular orange phasers last night so I think this is true. Be warned.

I feel really bad for our Brit friends who weren't able to preorder this excellent nod to the classic Trek. Hopefully they will eventually become available in the C-Store.
