I'm not sure what the deal is but every time I try to activate two powers in rapid succesion it...doesn't work. Sometimes the second power even has its graphic go off without actuallying activating. This is intensely frustrating and has lead to death more than once.
This happens to me all the time and is VERY frustrating. I often miss a photon shot while turning because either the high yield didn't trigger or the fire command didn't trigger and by the time I notice it the target is out of the arc.
Please look at this Cryptic. If it's a server/client sync issue then we need skill queuing.
Has anyone else bugged this? I'm pretty sure I did but I'll check the next time I'm in-game.
It is very frustrating that keypresses often don't work correctly and sometimes even will activate the "activated" graphics of an ability without it actually firing off. I constantly have to look at my hotkey bar for misfired abilities and mash hotkeys several times to get things to work correctly.
Please make my keypresses actually work, this is very basic stuff and very important in a game!
I am having same issue, even as far as fire all weapons, it seems like the cooldowns keep restting for my cannons and some times it takes 5 sec or more of not hitting any button until i can fire my weapons, very aggravating.
This right here is my biggest problem with the game, in my t4 escort my powers often take 2-3 mouse clicks to work, this is probably becuase i am having to spam the spacebar so much. The worst is with my emergency power to shields... i hit it, the graphic plays, but nothing ACTUALLY happens, and timer does not reset... this is a major false positive in the heat of pvp. If i wasnt a lifetime member, this could very well be a showstopper as it is something I deal with on a very normal basis
I'll throw my substantial weight behind this one... it's incredibly annoying that the controls are so unresponsive. Sometimes I have to press the attack pattern alpha button 2 or 3 times for it to activate. Very annoying.
Weird... or, we've all got a higher tolerance for annoyance than you and so it took longer for us to complain
I'm so sorry we missed YOUR post about it. Forgive us. Please.
Was more meant to be towards the devs for not fixing it, i just thought i was the only one that had this problem since no one answer my post or i had seen more posts about it...
I will agree it's a problem. Hardly at the top of the list for me but still needs attention. Even if they slowed the cooldown animation to match up to the actual time it would be an improvement.
This sort of thing has been an issue in other MMO's I've played but one of them gets it right so it is possible to do.
I have the same issue but this "bug" developed today for me. Before today I was playing just fine, no lag, no non-responsive buttons, etc. Anyhow, I get the "bong" sound as if the item is in cooldown when it clearly isnt and clicking on the item with the mouse makes it work, however that makes dogfighting an almost moot point.
I'm also getting the "You are unable to log into the game at this time" message and was only able to bypass it once. Again, I didn't experience anything like this until today.
I read a post about some Amazon folks who are unable to log in and some Dev came into the thread saying that it's their fault as they had some lame naming convention going on for when this or that grace period would end. I'm a digital download with a month to month subscription that's active, so I'm unsure why I'm receiving this issue. Unless of course I somehow got thrown into that naming convention problem with the Amazon folks...
dont think we'll see any improvement in the UI until they fill the position.
Cryptic Studios is seeking a full-time User Interface Designer. This position is responsible for working with designers, programmers and artists to help create user interface designs for our games. User interface design requires an excellent understanding of human-computer interaction principles, an in-depth knowledge of industry standards for game designs both on console and keyboard and the ability to coordinate UI design vision across a large-scale project.
Located in Northern California in Los Gatos, Cryptic offers the fun, focused and casual atmosphere of an independent developer. We work hard, we play hard, and we always balance the demands of the job with the personal lives of our employees. If you're looking for a position where you can help shape the future of MMORPGs, apply today!
Every day you could be:
* Developing functional and intuitive user interfaces for game systems.
* Creating mock-ups for user interface prototypes.
* Producing high-level screen and game flow models.
* Conducting large-scale usability testing.
What we'd like to see:
* The ability to communicate clearly and concisely with designers, programmers and artists.
* In-depth knowledge of video game user interfaces for keyboard and console.
* Practical knowledge of HTML/CSS, Flash or Javascript for prototyping purposes.
* Knowledge of Star Trek.
* A love of video games -- especially MMOs.
* A portfolio of user interface designs.
* Four-year degree with a focus in UI design is recommended; Master's degree in HCI (Human-Computer Interaction) or equivalent industry experience is preferred.
Just a bit more information, this is not limited to space combat.
I am finding that I frequently miss expose/exploit opportunities because the "g" key to switch to the exposed target doesn't activate before my command to fire does. As such, I end up firing on the current target instead of the exploited on, wasting the opportunity.
If you happen to have auto-fire enabled (especially if you are using the multiple-fire trick) you will increase the chances of this happening. An ability cant trigger at the same time an auto-fire cycles and this can make it more likely to not 'click' when you try it.
This is why they removed ground auto fire until they get it fixed. Hopefully they'll fix both soon.
Its also possible it is client/server latency but in those cases you usually see the torpedo fire, but it didnt really and that torpedo does no damage.

For the record, I had this problem before I enabled auto-fire.
And having, ahem, additional autofires enabled doesn't seem, at least to me, to make it any worse. Of course, I'm getting used to clicking more than once and pressing more than once and checking back to see if it activated. So I'm compensating.
Now that I'm using the keyboard more since I have more skills, this is increasingly annoying.
My opening volley consists of pre-activating High Yield so that it's about to cooldown when I come into range. When I do, I hit "1" for foreward torpedoes, "4" for Tacheon, then "5" for Directed Energy modulation. What I end up hitting, however, is usually 1,4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5 because the skills don't trigger. And even then, sometimes I look back and my torpedoes didn't fire - when it was the first key.
Yes, I do have autofire enabled on four beams, though only two are facing at the moment I start this sequence.

hmm anywho, they don't seem to want to fix or give some sort of answer.

But i forgive you.
I find myself hammering the skill buttons too in order to actually get them to trigger.
Biggest complaint about the game so far.

Respectfully, I disagree. Hiring more interface designers is hardly evidence that no current designer has this bug in her or her queue.

And the ground problems happen with NO autofire.

Hasn't helped me any, still having to multi-click my icons or multi-tap my bound keys to get some powers to fire.
No queueing apparent either !
