You mean "scientists", I assume. I think the idea was to encourage people to use the technology system and for it not to be another entirely level-dependent crafting system (if you can even call it that).

The hole thing is a wast. Considering you can get everything she offers thought other means if not better. Whats the point in buying anything from her?? They should at least make it so its easy to skip her.

The least I would ask for is to let us know really what needs to be done to progress beyond the garbage tier of M-A.
Ok so memory Alpha is a great example of something the player base could do instead of a NPC thing...
I would more say they at least in romiens case it would be something to wast time on since you could get everything if not better plus level just by doing the missions
Memory Alpha really needs refining. I must have made 70 some large hypos to advance past Romaine. And I've maybe used 5 of them. Its a total waste and takes way too much data to do, as I didn't finish it until I was Commander.
I have no idea how long it will take to advance through the next level, since there seems to be no easy way to even get the base items like you could buy hypos. The next recipes all seem to require mk 4 and 6 items, which generally are not even buyable, and I certainly haven't found many of them either.

They changed it in yesterdays patch.
It takes less to get past Romaine, but using the cheaper upgrades will take more. Thats what they said in the patch.
Might want to try using the weapons instead as the patch notes made it seem like if you use those you would move through the tiers faster.
It would be nice if they had some way to let you know how many you need to advance. If it takes higher levels rate each item, for example: a hypo is10 points, a ship weapon 50 points it takes 500 points to advance so you can do 50 hypos or 10 ship waepons to advance. And when you hit the level she tells you know you can talk to another scientist to get better stuff. Use whatever verbage ior graphics you want to make it Star Trek but do something.
I'd love to build weapons but I never have enough blue drops. Meantime I have two stacks of reds in the bank. So I've ended up turning those into hypos and power cells just to make some progress. Greens are piling up, now, too, unti I unlock the next person.
O.K.,
So I don't want to start a new thread for this but I hope someone may have the answer to this issue.
I'm a LC1 and I've collected a ton of data. When I go to Jenna Romaine I can talk to her and she says "go out and collect some data..." .. well I've collected a ton of it and I'd like to deposit it. The problem is that bin that she is looking at (where I've read that I am supposed to deposit the sample) doesn't light up. The bank does as well as the exchange.
Anyone know how to start the whole crafting process? I mean, I have a ton of samples and I want to deposit them to Romaine so I can start this process..
a short answer - to open levels 2 and 3 you have to make stuff worth a total of X, where X is the number in the bottom right corner you would pay if you were able to buy it from a merchant for energy credits:
"Update: Ok everyone its looking strongly like you have to buy items from Romaine that come to a total resale value somewhere between 6100-7022.
that is the value of the bought item, not the base ingredient.
I have also yet to see a purchase list with less than 20 of each type of blue but i don't think this necessarily has anything to do with it.
all the data is in my spreadsheet though it needs some explaining or a lot of patience!
To get to tier 3! you need to spend more than 98786 and less than 104170 (so probably 100,000) following the same rules as above.
it also only unlocks the next tier for that class. "
All of the items you can buy for tier 2 are listed on this page:
AFAIK noone has the cost for tier 4 worked out yet. Also, don't make only hypos to get from 1 to 2 or you will be there forever. Although if you have been tracking total amounts, you could make torpedo launchers and phaser arrays to get to 6100 then use hypos (a LOT) to get the rest of the way and then tell us where the actual break point was.

Yeah, for each level of item it's much easier to get things through missions or medals of exploration- plus the chance of additional drops from enemies too.

Wait about a week or two and I am sure someone will do the number crunching for you.
Also, I think the point of it is to be something you can do as you level and collect data. Not something there just to be there.
Not to mention no one has gotten past t2 or t3 that I know of have they?
