all these other gold sellers tied into this guy who owns sellsto and the ign gold seller.

also there is information in this post to aid cryptic maybe we can get there ip's block - Blocked.
on godaddy there is a way to block ip addresses i have used this on my forums hosted there.

Nice. Consider this done! I'll even include a screenshot of my mail system to show what it's like!

As someone pointed out, it's illegal in their lil dictatorship. That'll mean they get shot more than likely. They roll the dice, we'll see how good they are at gambling with something more important than money.

reported. Unfortunatly, they're getting around it using "QQ" credits (the illegality of gold farming/selling in China)

While a nice idea, this will not work.

They aren't spamming personal emails or attacking your computer directly. The are instead, using a function built into a game. They are not breaking any rules against you, they are breaking rules against Cryptic. They are however using the mail system in its intended format for a game. Internic can not intercede on this.

This information is also not useful to Cryptic, other than to say who the IP belongs too. This only allows Cryptic to report it to the Chinese Authorities. Cryptic gains nothing by blocking the IP because it only blocks the website in which the sells are made, not the IP address of the actual PCs being used to spam our inbox or chat within the game.

Cryptic could opt to ban the IPs of the "User Account". This still may not work as they could be hopping or masking the real IP.

So while this seems like a good idea, Internic can not intercede on this matter because you have no rights to your email in game or on this website. The PM system doesn't go by the same rules as Yahoo or Hotmail because in game mail or website PMs are not considered private emails.

well you say it wont work so we all should stop, we dont have to say there doing it in game, keep it up

there website which is under there jurisdiction of the domain register in china who gets these domain names based upon compliance of Icann rules failure to do so would be a major loss in money to them.\

That why there is a spam choice on Icann site when making complaint.

I think the most efficient way would be to block Chinese and certain Asian IP addresses. That's what they did in LoTRO and it worked. If you happen to be a foreign citizen residing in China, you can file a request with CodeM/Turbine (LoTRO's publisher) to exclude your IP address from the banned IP range. It is an ad-hoc thing. Turbine/Codemasters excluded China from the supported areas (if I'm not mistaken it was in response to certain protectionist measures that China adopted).

Lately I was so bored in LoTRO I hunted bots (yeah, that bored), but they are pretty much extinct there. Even when they tried to trick the GMs and used a proxy server they were squashed in about 15 minutes.

So before the nay-sayers come in: yes, it has been implemented, and found to be efficent.

Anyway, China has quite a few restrictive laws concerning the distribution and operation of MMOs in their territory so Atari/Cryptic might as well steer clear of those 'murky waters'.
