Who actually plays this game?

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
I got bored of the missions after 10 minutes, every mission is just "go to planet TRIBBLE and destroy all the enemy spaceships" So boring, nothing new. Graphics are even worse than in wow, which was released over 5 years ago. Animations are crappy, like from a poor java game.

Have fun flying around the galaxy and doing your "destroy all the enemy spaceships" missions.

I'll rate this game 4/10.

Now back to wow, gotta play my warlock.

Did you actually turn your graphics up at all? Or did you just play on the standard settings? i.e. low.

And, I agree that the early Fed missions are a real let down - and they will put many people off. The game opens up and has much more to offer at later levels - this ships become so much more fun to play when you level up.. they certainally need to give a glimps of this much earlier on in the game though.

For me, I now play Klingon and level via PvP mostly, or grinding ship kill missions. I love space combat, and I don't like ground much. So, it suits me just fine.

And, as for WoW. Dude, the games been damn easy ever since they dumbed down raid at 70. What's the point? And if you play a PvE focused game for PvP, then that's pretty pointless too.

The mission where you go back in time and save the original Enterprise with Spock talking is pretty entertaining.

Really? I suggest you update your video card. If you think the graphics on this game are worse than WoW's origami looking architecture you must be running on minimum settings. And there are more than just defeat all missions (though I agree there are a few too many of those). You just obviously haven't gotten further than Lieutenant 3 yet. Get an upgrade on your machine and do some exploration missions, man.

Do you think that wow has a better quest system? Every mmo i've played have some sort of repetive quest system. Started with Meridian 59 and has continued testing mmo's since then, not only an altoholic but a gameswinger as well :-)

If not chasing spacecrafts or beeming down to planets for some menial tasks you'll need to hunt wolf pups for ten levels and then ordinary wolfs for the next ten levels and if your patient enough you eventually forced to slay dire wolfs. My point is not to say that your wrong and that one game is better than the other but I would really like to know why you find qesting in wow so special?

About the graphics, im not going there since I think its a matter of personal taste.

I think all mmo's could spice up the questing scenarios. Make long term quests, faction influenced quest, selections that has consequences and quests that effect the world you play in and not only kill/loot/deliver quests.

I'm generally against this, but with the amount of TRIBBLE surrounding the game, Cryptic should probably look into making the forums Read Only for non-subscribers. The arguments have died down a bit so we can have actual discussions and not flame wars about things that need to be fixed/added/changed but now there's just trolls -_-. Unoriginal ones at that.

Nope this forum section is open to post for all free loaders. Only general game-play section is for paid subscribers.

This guy is back again. If you hate it soooo much, why you still playing? If not, really, have you nothing else better to do? Who could really be that bothered just to go on a forum to spam rubbish? i don't get it ......

Go back to raiding then, sure raiding the same instance over and over sounds fun......

I have to agree with Valkadesh, making the main part of the forums a read Only for non-subscribers would be a good idea and would hopefully make it a better place to be.

This game'll be deserted in one month, if somehow the game survives (which i doubt...) The old republic will be the last nail in the coffin for this game.

Lifers must already regret their purchase, they just can't admit it. hehe...

As much as I'm in partial agreement with regard to the repetitive nature of early missions, a general lack of excitement in the quest system and a clunky means of existing in the Star Trek universe I'm playing it because of the Trek theme. It's a poor game but the presence of Trek lore makes is tolerable, and I'm optimistic that once I've got a few cohorts to play with on a regular basis the community-factor will lift it further still.

And you'll come up with some lame excuse in a month when it's doing perfectly fine, thinking that the excuse somehow retroactively absolves you of being wrong now. The behavior is predictable and tiresome. What's also predictable and tiresome is the knowledge that you'll justify this away somehow- anything you can do to retain your little sense of righteousness.

The community aspect of this game is fantastic for trekkies. I've played a few MMOs for a bit but would never class myself a veteran. Now that I've found something to quench my thirst for something trek I think this will be the first MMO I really get into. Yeah ok missions at the beginning can be quite repetative, but this is one of those games that gets better the more time you put into it. Of course it's not going to appeal to everyone, but at the moment I'm in a fleet with a group of friendly trek fans and we are having a great time, and that's enough for me.

I don't blame you. I think all games should have a trial or demo option. I was fortunate enough to be in open beta and while much of it was work, it did offer a glimpse of the game.

I was getting internet back when open was there and I don't live near a Del Taco, which btw was the worst choice for promotion....why not Taco Bell which is every 10 feet from me.

I am dying to take this game for a spin too, but the price tag is high for me to just go and purchase without trying it out.
