I got a graphics problem running this game. I run it on my laptop, its got the ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics, and I cannot find the update for it. The character in the character creator is all pix-elated and not clear at all, but the description is nice and clear at least...

Would anyone be able to help? Im not sure what to do...

Thanks.

Sure couple things. first check up on http://support.ati.com and look for a driver update for your card. Then try this directx update patch http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en

That should help clear up any problems you may have.

also bit of advice a 3200 is a lower end card to try adjusting your graphic settings in game to low or reccommended.

Sure. Glad to help. But the ATI cards are known to have issues right now with the game. So you might want to try to wait for a driver update for your card before going out and putting money in for new computer.

Your CPU is so so (but it should run the game with out problem)

Excellent amount of RAM no problems there

The Radeon 4330 is a lower end graphics card, however, it should run the game (just keep your settings to recommended in game or low)

Hi Baka and all the others,

It seems that you know much about computers and how STO should run on them. I am about to buy a new computer specifically to play STO and this is what the computer store guy offered me:

    INTEL 1366 CORE I7-920 2.66
    2 x DDR3 DIMM 2GB 1333 CL7 HYPER X
    SVGA PCIE 896 MB GF GTX260 GDDR3
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English
    Desktop

Could you please tell me if that´s really enough to play STO with high or at least reccomended settings? Should I improve something? Or maybe change everything? I accept any constructive suggestions

    Thanks in advance.

You say the character is pixellated? Like severely pixellated? Is Half Resolution turned on in the video options?

The GTX260 will let you run the game with recommended settings with no problems. How bit is the monitor you are going to use to play the game?

If you plan on playing the game at the native resolution of the LCD (the 1920x1080) then I would go and buy the GX280. The 260 can handle resolutions like 1280x800 and 1440x900 but if you want to play at that res and have everything turned up your going to need the extra power the 280 has. And a single 280 will run with the power supply you have as long as you have a spare pcie power connector.

    Ok, I will ask for a 280.

Thank you very much. I appreciate the help!

everyone i have asked to help me wants me to give them money before they can even tell me what i need. when i try to play the game i get some prompt telling me my video specs aint up to par. i have an hp pavilion a434n. its at least 6 yrs old. when i ask my local tech what i need, he wants me to send my computer in to him. i can replace/install a board myself. i just have no idea what board to install. and when i ask someone at a retail joint they just wanna sell me the most expensive one they have whether it will work or not. i live over an hour from the nearest retail place. i dont want to make several trips. cryptic support is no help at all. the third day of trial period was when i first tried to play. my error generated a 'ticket' to send to cryptic. it was over 6 million. i dont thik i will be hearing from them in 15 min like the instrucions say.

Hate to break it like this, mate... get a new one ASAP.
I've got high end (less thank 2yrs ago) asus laptop and I'm glad that I don't have to use half-res.

Anyways, my laptop has Mobility Radeon HD 2400.
I've tried to find the latest drivers and the best I've got was around 2008.
STO still moarns that I don't have up to date drivers.

    hlp...

I run out of tricks to find the driver. it's neither on ati/amd website, nor on asus website :/
