leechers are in every single defend sector instance.

The RAMPANT leeching is out of control. Why do you allow it Cryptic? This needs to be addressed ASAP. Almost every single one of the defend sector missions is being abused by these people though. It is really unfair to those of us that are actually playing the game. those instances have been reduced to a 5 person max which is hard enough without some jerkoff sitting there soaking up exp.

Perhaps if they get killed by the spawn camping mobs more than 3 times or something it auto kicks them into sector space?

one problem is that players AFK in space are infact sucked into the the Defend Deep Space Encounters...

from time to time u will see enemy ships flying around and if it targets and goes for an AFK player that player will end up in the battle... so that adds to the AFK Leeching Problem

I was going to say that. It's happened to me several times already. When i come back I usually just help the guys out instead of warping out.

The leecher problem was much worse in beta. We do need a kick feature but that too will be abused. I'd love to get kicked for doing the most damage and getting the drops. :(

yea... i think the best option is to not let the enemy ships suck players into battle...

It's a pain in the TRIBBLE actually and has happened to me a few times. I now have to resort to moving my damn ship a long ways away from anything lest I get dragged into something AFK :S

This is a design flaw not a player leaching issue

I hate that... AFK to get a drink and use the toilet, while auto piloting toward a zone border and then when I come back I find myself in a DSE, dead with a respawn button.

    So annoying...

But, other people do actually AFK.

I doubt they'll keep the "feature" in long... but in the meantime... idel/afk on your bridge instead of sector space... two clicks and it won't happen.

Agreed if you are AFK you should not get pulled into fights in sector space.

    I'm vehemently oppose bridges. -.-

jk, But that defeats the purpose of using my afk time to travel through warp space...

I was never pulled into one of those while moving personally... but yeah, I guess that could be an issue.

    I dont' AFk, but I don't help.

I play science in a pure healer setup. I have next to no dps, and If the main DPS die, I am dead meat (my big heal cannot target myself).

I CANNOT out DPS anyone, so loot is out of the question. Exp is negligible because I don't do the dps to take the kills. For me.. impulsing around doing nothing is the best option.

Another FUN Fact for everyone to know... just make sure you are WELL away from Enemy ship contacts before you use your Transwarp skill... cuz if you use it and a enemy ship comes after you and sucks you in.... well lets just say its a long walk home ^^

It will use the skill up and set the cool down to 30 mins without you being teleported home... instead you end up in the battle so once you leave the instance the Transwarp skill in on CD for 30 mins... so yeah...

You can switch your power to weapons, which will increase your dps.

It's a problem for the players in the battle with the AFK player so something probably has to be done.

But if you are AFK then you shouldn't be flying through space. Park yourself somewhere else.

If you have to AFK for whatever reason while in sector space, simply hop onto your bridge. Quick and easy solution for the deep space encounters.

I'm still waiting for the thread where someone complains that the Transwarp countdown doesn't run when you are logged off. BTW .. it isn't suppose to.

For what it is worth, given there is no DP and consequently no risk to doing the "work" people should not worry about leeches. With that said I hate the fact that a preestablished group cant get into the same instance. If you have a full team and get an encounter the game should spawn a new one for you if the limit is five players.

    [sarcasm]
However since as many here seem think that an MMO is never finished, implying that there are no really functional expectations incumbent on the developers beyond rudimentary capabilities regarding a sale of a license - WIP and all the jazz, I figure this situation will take some time to get resolved and that is OK because we should not expect polish or perfection of anything at all otherwise it would place the game in a finished state of some sort and we cant have that.
    [/sarcasm]

With that said for the new people just turn of auto team and go request only at least you wont have dead weight with you.

I'm still waiting for a thread wondering when capes/cloaks will be added to the game. :p

Maybe Cryptic will get off their collective TRIBBLE and answer this. would be nice to see a post in a thread that isn't about ship names or some other useless garbage.

Theyd first have to actually fix the farming of fleet actions like crystalline entity etc...

Although I DO loot the Crystalline Catastrophe Mission in my Heavy Escort, it's only in hopes of getting good Blues - I give away everything I don't need to the other players who want them.

All you have to do is redirect power to weapons and Poof your DPS !.. You should also have atleast one tactical special.. which is the exact same as a crusier.. Only an escort has 2 at LT Commander.. and they are 1 min recharge timers.. soo hardely make or break..

If your Sci-vessel is not doing damage.. Its cause your not playing it right.... Yes you can heal and such.. but thats hardley all your ship can do.

Also if you need a heal yourself.. Set full power to sheilds and use engineer redirect power to sheilds.. (thats your engineer bridge officer) Sci vessles are accaully one class that can Play any side... heal/protect/bebuff and DPS.. redirecting power, and using the right bridge officers is huge..

If your having troubles.. try making a new thread and posting your ships load out.. and get some tips on setting up your 4 power settings.. Dont use default.. they dont work that great at that setting

*edit.. But instances pretty much suck unless your going in with a full group of freinds.. I avoid them like the plauge

You better be below Lt8, because even if you fly around using sensor scan on all the groups the other player attack you will be a big help, 18% more damage on all those ships is a nice boost to kill speed for the other players.

At this point such a think would only exacerbate the problem. What I think needs to happen is the auto group function needs to be changed or they should alter the credit system to count only those that do damage on a mob.

I'm not sure if you can do it in this instance, but I've tried kicking a member from an open instance with '/kick RedShirt' simple because he wasn't active.

When you need to AFK in sector space go to your bridge. You will not be sucked in then.
