klingons already destroyed the tribble homeworld according to worf, but if you think doing it again will help by all means you can try, but if even one survives, well we all know what happens

According to my assumptions mentioned in one of the previous posts I made the "common" Tribble growth chart.

Thx to all the info here and on STO Wiki:
    http://docs.google.com/present/edit?id=0ARtJW47NiEAXZGR0aGI0M2pfMGZmd3gyNWR2&hl=en

Also, an updated table on recipes (based on info here, the guide and STO wiki):
    http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AhtJW47NiEAXdC04OUtacVlDMndWbkthUzBGVXh5SFE&hl=en

    Aditionally I confirm:
    Stahl = Jasperson + I'danian Spice Pudding

Hope I'll get other formulas from my fleet colleagues/breeders.

Feel free to add any info from my work to the Tribble guide. If you like it, of course.

Well started today with a fresh new test.

Tuffli + Catfish Sandwich = Sparkes
Tuffli + Earl Grey Tea = Dotson
    Tuffli + Feline Supplement 74 = Sparkes
Tuffli + Ferengi Snail Juice = Dotson
Tuffli + Hot Chocolate = Dotson
Tuffli + Root Beer = Dotson
    Tuffli + Synthale = Dotson

Will run more tests but so far not got anything new. So bought some fresh stock so will add those to the list.

Well here's my current breeding chart. It's starting to become a pain to keep updated but I'll post it for anyone who wants to use the work I've done so far.

I'm a new breeder here, and I put a food item and a tribble in my bank to see what would come out, but they have not yet produced anything. Do I need two tribbles in there for the magic to happen?

No, you just leave one (or more, doesn't matter) tribble(s) with food in the same inventar (yours, bank, belt...). When the Tribble get's hungry it it's the food and a new one comes out (so the original stays there).

I got a drop yesterday on a mission close to Romulan territory (Alpha Centauri block).

Check here if it will be unveiled in some shop:

Since it is a preorder item, and per definition should be unique I'm not sure if we can. But if we can make anything stronger/better then Mattson/Ricossa, my educated guess is we should feed both the Mattson and Ricossa only 72% food (to see what will happen):
    • Jumbo Romulan Mollusk
    • Klingon Heart of Targ
    • Quadrotriticale
    • Romulan Ale
    • Tranya
    • Tullabery Wine

If it won't work with this, try all the other food to Mattson/Ricossa.

    Also, check my chart please:

You can type in your Chat box:
/screenshot_ui (or gui - but it offers you options like jpg/tga...) and you get a screenshot with the UI. Works best if you play in Windowed mode/maximized, I've heard.

Also, you could always use FRAPS.

Does not work. When you open an info window, the chat box loses focus and you cannot enter chat commands...regardless of display mode...and I have neither the knowledge nor the site to create and post fraps vids :)

You'll have to be satisfied that I met someone else in-game who verified the info I posted :) (he posted just after my intial post in the thread here)...or manage to meet me in-game yourself.

if you wanna take a screenshot with all ui still in the picture, just hit print screen button, then click start, all programs, accesories, paint. then in the paint program click edit and past. You will then get a shot of everything on your screen including all tool tips. just save as and your done.

best place for romulan ale is 1. the exchange but its already really pricy and will only get worse as more people realize its needed for the better tribbles, 2. go to romulan space and do away mission i picked up arond 13 romulan ales while there.

At least one of your predictions is off. HIG's come from MAT's, not vice versa. I expect a similar relationship will hold true for GRI and RIC.

Does anyone have details on breeding the Rivera yet?

I finally got my Howe bread last night so I can now breed my first Ricossa. I already got Jasperson on all my main toon's away team so I am well under way :) I decided to go for Ricossa instead of the Mattson. Mattson is strictly a defensive tribble while Ricossa has a DPS and a Damage Resist so its more balanced. It also doesn't use the high demand Romulan Ale to produce.

    In the beginning:
For those just joining in I thought I would summarize some information needed to begin the breeding process. Looking at charts and such and from my breeding experiences, it seems that you have to breed several generations before you can get to the more sought after multi-buff tribbles. Thus far, I know of nobody who has looted any higher level tribble. It may be possible but at this point, I know of no known drops. Given this, your only choice is to breed them. The benefits are that you are guaranteed to get the one you want if you follow the appropriate breeding steps.

    Identifying your tribbles:
The hover tool tip will NOT tell you what breed your tribble is. Until you begin to learn the colors and patterns of them, you need to know what breed it is. The only way is to right click on it and select "Info". Below the top paragraph there will be a species name. The last portion of that name is the common name we all are refering to them by. For example if you look at the info pane and it says Polygeminus grex stacy, then thats a Stacy.

    Notes on Breeding:
Simply put, drop a tribble in a container with some food and wait. From my experience, they will NOT breed in Fleet Banks NOR will they breed in any BO belt if the BO is not ACTIVE and on the ground. The later will prevent you from using the away team to breed tribbles on a space station as none of them are active when you are on the station. If you are on a planet, and they are active with you then tribbles will breed on BO's belts. Any BOs you leave on the ship will not breed tribbles either. In hours of gameplay, not one tribble has bread on an inactive BO belt. So, you can breed them in your bank, your belt and your inventory. You can breed them on BO belts if they are active.

Getting higher level tribbles is not random. For each tribble, there are a finite set of foods you can feed it to breed a higher level tribble. You can get to any high level tribble from a basic tribble but it may take more or less generations depending on the starter you have.

You only need ONE tribble to start the breeding process. You can get every other tribble from that one.

None of the low level food (56%) will breed any medium or high level tribbles, it only breeds other low level tribbles.

To get any of the mid level tribbles that have at least one long duration buff, you need 64% food stuffs from loot drops or the exchange.

It doesn't matter where in the container the tribble and food are. They will find each other. Putting multiple tribble breeds and multiple food types in a container is bad as you can't control which tribble eats what. Stick to a single tribble breed and a single food type. You can put several of a single breed of tribble with multiple food types if you wish to spawn different children. You can also put multiple tribble breeds with a single food type and do the same thing. I, however, recommend sticking to a single breed and a single food type in a container.

    1 Food + 1 Original Tribble + Time >> 1 Original Tribble & 1 New Tribble

You can only only have the buffs from a single tribble active at any one time. Petting a DPS tribble like the Jasperson will give you a 1hr DPS buff. If you then pet a Deangelo, the DPS buff will be removed and a 1hr health regen buff will be placed on you. The buffs carry into space but can only be activated on the ground.

    Your first tribble:
Getting your first tribble can be troublesome or easy depending on how you go about it. I suggest the Exchange. Look for tribble in the search. You can easily find starter tribbles for 1 credit. You can start with ANY tribble but I suggest getting a Dotson (coco brown, not dark brown, thats a Thompson ) or the Susilo (snowball white) if there is one on the exchange. Another way is to do lots of away missions until you get one to drop. Short of those two, beg in chat, I can bet someone will have one to give you to start or ask someone in your fleet.

    Breeding a Tuffli:
The Tuffli is just a heal buff tribble and as such, by itself, is not worth much. But it seems the Tuffli is a spawn for many of the mid range tribbles that ultimately lead to the higher level tribbles and there in lies its value. The following breedings are based on the Dotson which is both a common drop and easy to breed from virtually any low level tribble. There are quite a number of combos that will yield the Tuffli though these two seem to be the easiest to arrive at given drop rates of food:
Dotson + Banana Pancakes >> Susilo + Bolian Souffle >> Tuffli
Dotson + Croissant >> Susilo + Bolian Souffle >> Tuffli

Here are some chains to the two most popular higher level tribbles:
The two most popular tribbles are the Ricossa and the Mattson. Both of them have 2 buffs each. The Ricossa has DPS and Damage Resistance. The Mattson has Health Regen and Damage Resistance.
Tuffli + Ferengi Snail Steak >> Mccarry + Klingon Grapok Sauce >> Howe + Klingon Octopus >> Ricossa
    Tuffli + Cardassian Zabu Stew >> Jasperson + Slug-O-Cola >> Cavallaro + Romulan Ale >> Mattson

    The Future:
Who knows what will be discovered with tribble breeding. From the description on the tribbles such as "Petting this sub-species will have the effect of slightly stimulating the body's natural regenerative capabilities." The keyword there is slightly. This leaves room for there to be at least two more levels (no word as in "effect of stimulating", and "effect of greatly stimulating"). They have yet to be discovered and there is no proof they even exist but the potential is there! I suspect that they will be results from higher level foods such as the 72% ones. I also find it odd that I have seen no food >72%. For food I have seen 56%,64% and 72%. Thats a step of 8% each time so looking forward that would predict 80%, 88%, & 96%. If they don't exist already, they well may be put in with future patches and expansions. Again, its all speculation.

    Wolfie out.

t is reported that the Klingon species bridge officer of a Federation player has a mutually negative reaction to the tribble, as expected from the source material; it's not clear if this means they cannot benefit from the powers, or is merely a humorous animation. It is possible for Federation players to unlock Klingons as a playable species (currently by purchasing in the C-Store for 240 Cryptic Points); their reaction to tribbles is unknown at this time.

My federation Klingon and did not get the buff from the tribble. Check it with my son alien character he did get a buff. Fed Klingon just got screeched at no buff.

This would fit with prescribed lore. Klingons hate tribbles and vice versa. It makes perfect sense that your klingon wouldn't get a buf from the tribble as the tribble's trilling sounds are supposed to affect "human" nervous systems. If the tribble doesn't trill but instead simply screeches, no buff. Makes sense.

I do not believe it its a bug nor do I believe it will it be fixed. I really don't feel its broken.

Are you sure? I was certain it was Regen and Resist.

I just looked at http://sto-intel.org/wiki/Tribble and it says its Regen+Resist as well.
The guide at http://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AczhS3xovyl6ZDhnc3Budl8wZHBwczZ3cGM&hl=en seems to confirm your assertation.

Hmm...which is it? I chose not to breed the matt so I don't have a sample to confirm.

    Managed to breed another vitales-snail.

Had a highison and a ricossa, along with a cardassian taspar egg and tranya in inventory.

Don't have any more of either food type to test further...but it's one of the combinations of those 2 tribbles and those 2 foods.

Took place on sol station, so the tribble infested planet is not a factor.

Have updated the main and breeds posts, although they need it again :)

    Breeding result:
jasperson + Saurian Brandy = deangelo

Can we get some more info on the Velasquez? I'm particularly curious as to whether it's got the same value of DPS buff you can get with simpler tribbles.

To take a screenshot with the UI included, use the command /screenshot_ui_jpg
It may be useful to bind that to a key; I'll work on getting instructions for that.

if you want to take screenshots in STO, use /screenshot_ui or /screenshot_ui_jpg. Bind them if you wish.

If those don't work for you or you don't want to use them here is a quickie app I wrote years ago. It watches the clipboard for image data, such as that from a copy or a PrintScreen (including alt-PrintScreen). It then saves the numbered images in a folder. You don't need to do anything with the program (ie no pressing buttons or anything like that) so you can run it behind the game and it automatically saves images. It grabs the image off the clipboard and then clears the clipboard. I use it all the time to screen cap games and such. You can use it to catch STO screenshots with the UI if the built in commands are not working for you.

    Here is the download link:
    http://www.wolfiesden.com/public/ClipboardWatcher.zip

There is no installer. Simply unzip and run. It will create an INI file with settings on first run. Close it and edit the INI (notepad) it made in its folder to change image path and time delays. Run it again after editing the INI and it will use the new settings.

I have used it on Win95, Win2k, Win2kServer, WinXp, WIn2k3Server, Vista64, Win2k8Server64, Win7-64 and WIn7-32 and it has worked properly for me in all variations listed. It was written in Visual Basic 6 and most OSs past WinXP already have the runtimes. If you need the runtimes (not likely if you play STO) you can get them off Microsoft or here: http://www.wolfiesden.com/downloads/images/vbrun.asp

It writes no registry entries and doesn't install any files. It creates a folder inside its own folder for initially saving the images. Other than the screenshots, iINI and the initial folder, it writes no other files or folders. There is no phone home so feel free to firewall it. Feel free to virus scan the **** out of it, there is nothing in it. There is no version updater and there is no support. It has been working for me for over a decade and I am not going to be adding any features so don't ask. Its a freebie, treat it as such.
