I've been breeding for a while now and today I bred one i've never seen before. it's orangey-ish with dark spots, and it does +Damage AND +resistence buffs!
anyone else seen this?
When you right click on it and go to info, what type of Tribble is it?
I've updated my charts with all the data points contributed this weekend, and retroactively added a contributors list. If I've missed anyone who provided some breeding info, let me know.
Hmm, after putting all this on paper and comparing the pictures and everything it seems that Ricosa is breeding from Howe only, both are dotted.
If I would take some analogy I would say that a Mattson would most likely breed from a Highison. Unfortunately I can't figure out the formula for an Highison, either (you get it from a Mattson - not helping...)

Now that I know how to get the screen shots to work properly I will grab images of them.
I'm seeing a number of conflicts in your results with those we already have. When you list, for example, "tuffli results", are you listing things you get when you feed stuff to a tuffli, or things you feed to result in a tuffli?

Ah my apologies, they are what I feed to them and what I get out of there. I'll redo the tests again to make sure. I did think some of my results were weird myself so perhaps something went wrong a couple of times.

Hmm tried this and they all came out as TGAs without any overlays. Paint Shop Pro Photo XI doesn't open them and DirectX Texture Tool shows them without overlays ...
Edit: Aha, went into Window Mode to do the screen shots and then pasted them each time into Paint.

Start typing /screenshot in game and you'll get several possible completions. There are versions to do it with and without the UI visible, and to jpg or tga.

Cool thanks, didn't even think of trying that rofl. Will be handy for pics mid fight when I don't have time to toggle out and everything rofl.
I've bred a vitales tribble with a light brown/golden brown "eye spotted" pattern, with a long duration damage buff. I cannot conclusively state what formula led to its creation, as it was in my inventory with 11 other types of long duration buff tribbles, several types of food...and took place in the unusual circumstance of being on the tribble infested planet on the "Tribble with Klingons" mission.
I've checked, checked, and checked again that I have correctly identified its name.
I currently have 19 different types of tribbles, not including the griffis or rivera tribbles...with the proviso that 2 of them share the name "vitales".
I'll have to call it the Polygeminus grex vitales-snail :P
As this upsets the current understanding of things, and opens a heretofore unavailable and sure-to-be controversial possibility, (naming your tribble discovery), I'll be happy to meet with one of our reputable researchers in-game to provide a look at this creature.
As a humorous aside:
This occurred over the weekend. I'd taken a look at Ifinluck's site, and was wondering why my count of tribble types wasn't matching with his...but was too busy with other things to follow up.
Tonight I looked again for the new pattern that I was thinking of as vitales (I have a terrible memory, and didn't connect that I'd seen "vitales" tribbles before with the normal grey solid pattern). I saw the picture on Ifinluck's site of the normal vitales and was about to write a post here correcting him...when I realized that...well...we were both right...and something new had happened
@Scabies has reported through PM that the elusive Mattson can be obtained by getting a cavallaro drunk on romulan ale.
confirmed this is correct, just breed 3 of them and it is the correct formula for mattson. Should make sure it gets added to the current food tribble breeding graphs.
Comments
You can get one by feeding a Howe with Klingon Gladst or Jumbo Romulan Mollusk
I'd love a hot pink or lime green tribble. Or a hot pink - lime green swirl tribble! Yum!
Klingon Gladst Dotson
Thalian Chocolate Mousse stahl
Vulcan Plomeek Soup sparkes
Ferengi Jellied Grub Worm Stahl
Tulaberry Wine stahl
Klingon Octopus dotson
Vorta Q'lava dotson
Klingon Raktajino dotson
Cardassian Yamok Sauce Sparkes
Synthale Dotson
You can remove it from the unknown category;
"Petting this sub-species of tribble will have the effect of slightly stimulating the body's natural ability to resist all types of damage."
I hope you don't plan on eating your Tribbles?

According to this post and the screenshot, it seems stripes are genetically going to other Tribbles with stripes:
http://forums.startrekonline.com/showpost.php?p=1959462&postcount=179
So, if he already had a Mattson, and it wasn't a drop, then it could be bred also without a Highison
alt+print screen
Mattson + Romulan Ale = Highison, it might be that your theory about genetic stripes is correct.
So far the Tuffli (which is stripey) seems to breed the most buffing tribbles.
Here's my list of the tribbles i've succesfully bred so far.

Confirmed. The little fella has managed to find either a glitch or a new subspecies.
It was named Vitales, but had the following image instead of the default grey
