Just a Few Things Havin Fun Though

I am pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoy this game I have been playing since the start of open beta, but I didn’t want to comment until I have played in some detail. I was really worried about the ground combat from what I saw in the videos it looked clumsy and boring, but I am finding it well paced and enjoyable. Space combat in the videos had me a little on edge because it looked like it was too fast paced, but I have found that it is well constructed and exciting. I love how the missions play out in stages so one does not have to read through a lot of useless information before starting the mission and are instead feed bits of short information throughout which I find myself reading where as in other games I would just click through without reading.

There is one thing that really disturbs me that I hope will change and that is the almost full screen pop up window when one receives a communication and the sudden stopping of my ship that seems to coincide with it along with the fact that if one was to close the window there does not seem to be a way to retrieve it. When docking at a station or beaming down this window is not an issue, but the times when one is in combat and it comes up are very unsettling. I was thinking a voice of captain incoming message and then a message box in the lower left would work nicely and for those times when it comes from a bridge officer a captain with the box would do.

I did have a bit of trouble with the sector space map and getting a handle on where I was going due to missions that took place on systems outside of my current sector, but I think I have that under control now. I was of the mind that it would be far easier to allow players to go to the galaxy map double click on a sector and have a list of all known systems in that sector that could be clicked on for a course plot just as it is when the system is in the same sector.

Having an indicator of a person you are to speak with on the area map would be extremely helpful though the environments are very pleasant some of the areas are vast enough to delay finding someone long enough to make those with you a bit antsy to be on their way.

A way to turn off the graphic display of armor on our characters and bridge officers would be very nice I prefer to see them and myself in the uniforms I spent a bit of time designing and want others to see them this way instead of the armor.

I am not upset about the down times and the login waiting as I am sure you are hard at work to correct these issues and login waits are just an issue with online games until they find their balance as everyone runs out to try the latest thing and not all stick around much to your disdain I am sure.

    Glad you enjoyed t!!!

I myself enjoy this game a lot and find some of the repeat missions fun to play. Whoever said ground missions are bland and boring never played the higher end ones where it's your team vs a dozen or more mobs. Controls and gameplay fit nicely for me and flows well.

Your concerns can be addressed on the options window and you can hide armor which I did (that one go to NPC inventory, right click armor, and select hide)

I do agree that the find x things gets to be a pain. I find myself spending more time finding four specific rocks in a small area on ground than fighting 3-4 waves in space. Plus, it's always the last rock or entity you have a hard time finding. You would think with 2 science officers and tricorders you can pinpoint the locations. Environments are cool, though! And if they used the same meshes, at least they were nice to retexture them unlike City of Heros.

    I'm
also glad this game isn't as hand holding as most MMOs, even the Korean ones. I'm also glad the combat and leveling system is a far cry from the traditional fantasy MMOs.

Thanks:D I looked all over for that hide armor I thought they had to be joking around if they had not implemented it in the game considering the level of customization we are allowed

Oh I also forgot something else kind of important to exploration missions.

When exploring a system it would be nice if once you enter a system that system would then show up in the sector view of your map from that point on as the systems already do in explored space it would give one the feel of accomplishment and the ability to take friends on a tour. I have only done one exploring mission because of this feeling like I did nothing. I think the designers use them now as a repeatable area, but I am not comfortable with it nor is my friend who seems to live off exploration like it was his life blood.

Once again thanks for the armor tip I was crying :( a bit before.
