Is there a manual or guide or anything?

I have the digital download and cant seem to find any sort of help.

Normally I need 0 help with games and never crack a manual, but STO has new stats & skills that need explaining. Is there anywhere that I can find stats/skills and what they do? For instance, "+10 warp core engineering" ??? And All of these items about "tractor beam" but not only have I never seen a tractor beam, but I have yet to find a reason for it. I am Lt Commander 2 atm and I'm just floating by with items that I understand "does more damage" basically.

Last night in-game, someone was talking about how he has 4 phasers on his ship and no torpedos, he then said "I have TRIBBLE bridge console for EPS so I have power to run them all" I was like WTF? Where does it say anywhere that you need bigger batteries for more weapons? I assumed u can put as many weapons, any type you want, in your ship and they work fine?

I don't want to sound so noobish but seriously I need to know what these items are/do so I can start playing for real...

    I'm going from memory here...

When you launch the game, on the login screen if you will look at the top of the launcher, there are hyperlinks there, and I believe one of them is for the manual.

Sorry, am at work and I cannot verify. I know how it is to have a post unanswered, so I thought I would try and help.

    Hope this helped.

    The short answer...

No, that manual they posted is the equivalent of a "quick start" guide not a manual.

The long answer is more of a ... Join a fleet that active and ask them ... also zone chat is helpful ... the only way to figure out what any of it does is just ask for that specific chat... I know it sucks horribly ... I have no idea what half the equipment on my ship does and I'm a freaking Commander Grade 4 now and I played in closed and open beta.

Yet another option would be to look for stickies in the forums. There is a lot of good info out there. Check out the Powers and Bridge Officers thread. You might find some useful tidbits there.

Sorry chief, but what you ask I think even Cryptic might not know itself, at least not any concrete numbers that aren't guarenteed to change in the future. The lack of info points to a system that wasn't well thought/fleshed out in the first place. Much like the Klingon content and the hilarious crafting system.

But still, here's a place to start, http://www.startrekonline.com/manual, everything we post aside from that is just obervations and opinion, but don't be so quick to discredit that for there are smart people here who have probably already figured it out, you just have to search and sift through it all though. Me? I've always found pleasure in being better through gameplay, never cared about min/maxing the stats or the stats in the first place, so I haven't a clue where to look for what you desire.

Hope you find it, this should be readily available info to be honest.
