I preorderd my Collectors at BestBuy online, cool, i just checked it has not even been shipped yet! WTF? it says Releases on 2/2/2010 so does that mean they will ship it on Tuesday and then i need to wait the 3-4 days?
You can't go to a store and pick it up?Just curious,do they mail it to your house,or is that in store pick up?I was thinking about going to the store to pick it up.Now I am wondering, will they even have it on the store shelves.
Well, did you pay for next-day shipping? Some places will make sure that you get the game on launch date if you pay for overnight shipping, and they'll ship it on the day before launch.
If you just went for standard shipping, they have to be somewhat careful...if they ship a product and it gets to a consumer before the actual launch date, they can be hit with some rather large fines. That's why those boxes of games sit in the back with big "DO NOT PUT OUT BEFORE" dates on them. And there's no way to be absolutely certain of the amount of time it takes to get to you, too...even if the shipping time says 3-5 days, it could end up getting there in 2 depending on your distance from the shipping location. If they shipped it three days before launch and you get it two days before launch, well, then they're in trouble.
And so, most retailers are going to wait to ship your game until it's certain that it won't arrive early: they'll wait until launch date. Some, like GameStop, will ship it at least a day before the launch date regardless of the type of shipping you ordered, since it's automatically going to take at least a day to get to you, but that's about the best you can hope for.
The only way you can be absolutely sure to get a game on launch date...is to buy it in person. On launch date. *shrugs* Facts o' life.
