Well, seems like some of our Southwestern and West Coast brethren will get to attend a handful of Gamestop midnight release events for STO...but the Midwest, Southern and East Coast-ers = DENIED...well, save for North Carolina (which seemed oddly random). And, I had a chuckle at the "Midnight (EST)" mention. So...9pm Western/10pm Mountain? Wouldn't that mean that other than NC, those other locations will have their copies of the game before the actual release date?
Would I have gone to a midnight release if there was one in my area? Probably not; it's not that I wouldn't want to get it right away, but it's just too damn cold at night here in Wisconsin to be freezing my TRIBBLE off outside a Gamestop. Still...would've been nice to at least have the option. Oh well.
Considering I am playing release, and all my chars/progress is actually being saved this time. I have no rush to enter in my retail key about 10 hours early. It's cold here too in Ohio. I will just pick up my copy when I have the time.
Its snowing here right now in South Dakota, no midnight release here either......I also am leaving on a flight Wednesday for home so HAVE to pick it up after work tomorrow instead of being able to go tonight at 12 and grab it and come home for a few hours sleep before work....oh well.
I'm surprised any game stop managers said, yeah, lets have a midnight opening for a STAR TREK game.
Well when you consider there have apparently been some game stop employees out there who've been illegally flying around in the preorder TOS Constitution ships since Friday I'd guess some of them are geeky enough to have midnight openings for a STAR TREK game as well.
My two local Gamestops base their midnight releases on pre-order demand. In fact, for Arkham Asylum they actually called and polled a week before to see if there was interest.
Mass Effect 2/MAG shared a midnight release party, but I didn't see anyone there for MAG.

Geek or not, they should use some common sense. If I ran a Gamestop I sure wouldn't have the place open at midnight for a Star Trek game. Starcraft 2? Sure. Star Trek Online? No.
How do we find out about the midnight release? There web site says nothing on it. I called Game Stop locally
to me and they know nothing about it. (though they said SELECTED retailers may have it).
Where's the proof? Is CRYPTIC saying anything about this? Have we all gone mad....

Seriously though I like on the East Coast and this would have been nice.
