Thing is that from experience standpoint, leveling is not that longer in higher tiers. Some people said it was even faster. Here we go. God save us from Cryptic nerfing Xps like they did in same situation in Champions Online.

save us? wtf? PLEASE nerf xp, crytpic, its rediculously fast. Some people may like flying through the levels and hitting cap in 3-4 days, but im willing to bet the majority DONT want to end their experience that quickly.
The game has been out now 96 hours, very possible for a dedicated (or crazed) fan to get to Rear Admiral. That amount of time represents a couple months of play for a casual player. I sure hope they do not slow down advancement. Its fun at current pace, it provides reasonable speed even when not working on getting XP but just playing.
Well, it seem's allright to me, but I'm just a casual player, so :P but anyway, if you rush through the game too fast, you'll miss out. There's big free content patch coming in 30 days, or so, should be nice.

OK, but if you want to nerf Xp, you have to back up it with content. And patrols are not that much cool content - same with exploration. It is practically grinding. Do you want to grind?
I already have five character slots filled. I know I won't run out of things to do for a long time. I hope the game lasts long enough for me to get at least one to max level. It took me a year and a half to get to eighty on one of my 50 WoW characters.
They also need to retune the difficulty. The lack of death penalty doesn't really matter because you never really come close to dying. I think the only time I have died is fighting the Crystaline Entity at a low level and when there are a ridiculous amount of Klingons at the zone in of an enemy signal contact. I don't even have as good of gear as I did in beta either.
Don't nerf xp. The people who have already made t to admiral or whatever are using a few, boring methods to advance quickly, which has little to do with playing the game normally.

^^^ This. The reason why there are Admirals already is because there is not enough content in the game and the xp has to coincide with the amount of content in the right now. If they had much more content, then I wouldnt have a problem reducing xp. It's a viscous circle.

NO!!! I just started playing a few days ago. Yeah it's easy if you have played through Open Beta, but there will be many new players that have not.
It seems a large majority of people posting seem to want to change EVERYTHING to how they want it. I enjoy playing the game, and assuming that since they (Cryptic Emloyees) are paid to make this mmo and i pay to play it, that they know what they're doing more than we do. Perhaps the game is fun, and if we stop trying to design every aspect from the outside, and assume EVERYTHING is broken, and would be better as X, we might... just might, have a little fun playing the game. (As intended by the game designers, not in our nerd dreams). :D
I've been flying "low & slow" having only reached Lt class 5 so far. I'm kind of stalling because I don't want to outclass my pre order Cruiser before I even get it!

No, if they nerf XP they got to revert the Admirals back down in level, and they won't do that. Just don't power level if it's too much. I'm actually taking my time with occasional spurts of power leveling. I'm reading everything, and leisurely heading to my destination, no point in rushing since endgame wont be fully opened for a while.

Absolutely. There are ways to really get XP fast, but they are just not that fun. The people that power leveled will be gone soon from boredom, if they slow down XP more people will leave from fustrationof leveling to slow.
IMHO, Cryptic should do. when You hit 50 on all your character, you get another character slot.

Dude...doesn't matter OB or not, they can make it the way it was and then it won't make me feel like I'm Capt Jesus of the U.S.S Genesis coming to destroy a Klingon near you... I can honestly put auto fire on front and rear phaser, put it to half impulse and go to the bathroom and come back and had killed the enemy, thats way way way to easy.
It took me many hours on the weekend to get to LTC. I am sick of people who sit at the computer all day long and take a break only for a few hours to sleep. And then they complain that its too fast to level. Think about people who opposite from you losers have a life, job, family. They dont just work and then come home and play all day and all night and then drink coffee next morning at work like horses. Some people have other things to do during the day. And if Cryptic nerfs leveling it will mostly affect these people. It won't affect losers who has only game and coffee in their life.
Right now game is built along the story line quests and a few repeatable side quests. If they nerf exp STO will become a freaking grind. The only way they can nerf exp is to decrease the number of Skill Piints that are given per quest. We will run out of quests sooner then we get to any high levels. Then all we'll have left - repeatable missions, exploration missions, fleet actions. Do you really want this game become a grind?
Maybe some of you are jelous that people are higher level than you are. Well, snap off of it. Who the darn cares about those loosers who already hit rear admiral. As better you are in MMO as a bigger looser you're in real life. The only exception here are disabled people, even they can read books and do other things. I mean don't be stupid, don't whine about the leveling speed. You will TRIBBLE this up for many people who actually do other things in their life but play STO all day and all night long.
LEVELING IS OK! ITS NOT TOO FAST, ITS NOT TOO SLOW.

They cant work on content if they are fixing all the glaring bugs now can they?
I wonder how the people who are at Rear Admiral managed to keep their game so stable for long enough to get that far? With all the map disconnects, The Queue and the downtime I'm amazed.
Mind you they probubly live in the states where the downtime happens when they are asleep. *******s.
Really, the rate of exp gain should be targetted towards the expectations of the casual gamer. I play STO (through open and closed beta's) for on average about 3-4 hours max per day (and even thats pushing it I'd guess). This is because I work full time and dont wish to spend all my free time playing this game.
Im not going to sound condecending to people who like to play for 8-12+ hours a day but surely, even those that do this, cant seriously expect Cryptic to measure the gameplay experience on these extreme examples of extended play-times!
I think the levelling system rate, as it stands, is about right. You have to remember that most casual gamers, who have not participated in the beta tests, will have the learning curve to deal with when they start playing. The trick is to make the game interesting enough for players on this learning curve- in the early stages- to persuade them to pay for further subscription. If the majority of new players think "This is taking too long. I dont seem to be getting anywhere. I must be doing something wrong but I dont know what it is." then thats a major turn-off. Cryptic will do everything they can to avoid this.
Quite sad that you have to take it slow to give yourself something to do.. Seems like there is a flaw in the game.
I think the issue is that levelling is so fast now that you don't get a chance to enjoy all the things you can do with your starter ship or BOFs - by the time you've done enough exploration or earned enough credits or merits to really trick out your Miranda *bam* - you're Lt. Cmdr with a new ship.
I suspect it'll be a similar story with my Cruiser - the minute it's tricked out the way I want it is the minute it becomes redundant - seems a shame.
Dont let the power gamers ruin your experience, i mean who cares? They are only ruining the game for themselves by speeding through the content. Some people care overly much on what other people are doing and should just focus on themselves. Unfortunately, the power gamers have a right to play 24/7 and race though the game, the best thing to do is just ignore them, it doesnt affect anyone else if they ruin the game for themselves.
Besides look on the bright side, they'll hit all the buggy content first, so by the time everyone else starts catching it up it should be fixed. So really people stop whining, this happens in EVERY game.
As a point of reference, i've been in CB and OB so i know the game fairly well and im only level 6, so it does take awhile to level if your not a power gamer.

Why would you want to stay in the light cruiser longer? Stuff that thing lvling is fine, may even be gaps, nerf it and definitely will be gaps to grind.

I've been taking it slow, doing the patrol and exploration missions until I hit Lt. Cmdr - just now starting to take on the story missions...

I pushed to Lt Cdr...because I wanted my Cruiser...but now...Not going to race to Commander...Nothing CDR up really tickles my fancy ship-wise....
