I've been playing since the Open Beta and never really cared much for physical combat (ironic 'cause my main is a Tactical Officer) until I ran across a kit called 'Martial Arts Maneuvers' that changed everything. Now I'm lunging my TRIBBLE off every chance I get and looking forward to away missions.
Training your Officers in physical combat techniques seems to make for quite a show as well. I've actually beaten a small group of enemies firing very little weaponry.
Just thought I would mention that to anyone who may be avoiding straight up fist fights in the game. Once you get the hang of it, it really is a blast. Although, like James T. Kirk in STOS against the original Gorn, you may have to box our Gorn's ears several times before they actually go down!
Oh, and keep an eye out for flying boulders.
and keep an eye out for 24 dps low lvl weapons those mean klingons get at start :)v (which is still higher than my actual lt cmd weapon)
i really wonder why starfleet has no melee weapns, sulu had some in the last star trek!
AYE! - Completely forgot about those...they tend to gang up on you when you pull a 'Leroy' and 'lunge' into a group of 'em. I am also the King of 'respawn'

"Does anyone have any Close Combat Training?"
"I do, Sir! 4 Years Fencing!"
"Uh... You'll do..."
