I'd love the option to be able to create an android like commander Data.

That would be much better then playing a BORG.

Give please

I'd love the over powered feeling in combat hehe

I'll pay 200 euro just for the option

A lot of people want to see them add Androids and holograms. They had originally talked about it in development, but there's no word on what happened to them. Many of us got scared that they had replaced it when they had the Android stance in the character creator. This has now been renamed twitchy, so there is still a glimmer of hope.

I was hoping for an Android race too. Let us hope that Cryptic gives us that option in an Expansion Pack.

Yeah originally I didn't like the idea because Androids are rare. There's like... one! And EVERYONE would have one. :P

But I don't care anymore because I WANT ONE!

    It's a neat concept but... I don't know.

With Data being declared sentient and an individual, and the same thing beginning to happen to [certain] holograms... I'd think the Federation would start to put pressure against the development of technologies that lead to recognizable life.

Being able to create a sentient individual with all the rights of a human at the snap of the finger... it just seems like a very risky cultural thing. Especially when they have innate advantages of biological life. If they outlaw the improvement of people (eugenics) then it stands to reason they'd want to prevent other "superbeings" from being created.

The thing with Android and Photonic races is that they have obvious balancing issues.

Androids can take a whole lot more damage, have incredible mellee damage and obvioulsy much more resistance to enviromental hazards like acid, poison and fire.

The same goes for Photonics, although i'm not sure that they can ditch as much damage as they can take. Hell, if you as a photonic were to put your M.E in your shoe no-one would be able to stop you unless they knew where to shoot.

Mess with these traits to try and adapt them to the game balance and you might risk getting fanbois and whatnot cursing you.

Which raises another point... the doc's mobile emitter was based on 27th century technology. While it's possible the Federation might have duplicated it over 30 years' time, it might some folks the wrong way to have it. Albeit, a bulkier or more limited version would be fine.

I believe the devs were talking about giving holographic crew limitations back during development, Presumably, they would have been space only, but would have had better space bonuses than other races to make people want at least one holographic boff.

However, I seem to recall something being in one of path to 2409's about the Daystrom Insitute being close to replicating the technology, so maybe they had planeed on them being ground and space at one time.

As for what somebody else said about balancing Androids. I would give them two required traits. One for 20% melee, which would be tied with Gorn for highest in the game and the peak health one.
