Exchange = Ridiculous

I just got one question for most of you all posting items on the exchange, and I understand it's early, prices really haven't been set yet but, still has to be said.

Common MKII items are not worth 30-60k credits most of those items you guys are posting on there are sold on vendors, for 2,500 at most. Uncommons MKIV for 200k plus? What the hell are you all thinking, come on lets all be sensible about this.

I love finding the exact same items from vendors for 10% of price that is posted on the Exchange. Gives me warm fuzzies.

I have not even seen anything worth buying on the exchange. Let alone actually paying someones asking price.

You're telling me people are buying it for that price? Where are they getting their credits? I have 40k, and that's selling everything I don't need, batteries, hypos, and all. So where are they getting 200k credits to buy an uncommon MKIV they can get from a quest or a few vendors, especially when the majority of people I see are still in newb ships?

They aren't. Hence the item still being on the exchange.

Thanks for taking that out of context, even though there was more too it, and it was a reply to someone else.

This. If I search for an item I'm going to put up and it's not on the market I'll set a high price tbh, then lower a few times until it sells. Sometimes stuff goes for a pretty penny and at other times I end up pulling it and selling it to a vendor because the buy price is more than I can get on the exchange. It'll take a long time for the market to stabilize and tbh the game's economy has a lonnngggg way to go.

I put stuff on the exchange for little under the price it's worth. That way I get more than the 50% resale value and the buyer get to use it and 50% cash back later.

I have sold something for 1000, but mostly its the stuff around 300 that moves the quickest.

I dont know what it it but i see that problem aswell. I sell my MKII Phasers for like 850 thats 200 less then you need to pay at the vendor. And i sold all of them in a notime. I dont know why people think there items are worth that much. I think prices need to stabilize.

You wont sell anything for those prices. Maybe they should make people pay a bit for adding items to the exchange just like in wow. And maybe make then last max 24-48 hours so the exchange will clean itself. now you can just let the items stay and hope someone will be stupid enough to buy it.

But i would give it some time. i'm already starting to see some more fair prices.

And this is exactly why I wish they had never put in any form of player run economy. People are simply greedy and want every cent they can squeeze out of someone in a video game, which is very sad in its own way. The only player run economy that I have ever seen work has been Eve's and even then, it went through its growing pains as well. They should pull the exchange all together and spend time adding something to the game that is actually worth while.

Yeah, it was like that for a short time in beta too, at least until everyone else started picking up a lot of the same gear and tried to sell it. Prices plummeted. For example, a Mk 1 quantum torpedo launcher was going for like 40-50k in the first few days of open beta, but near the end you could get a Mk 2 quantum torpedo launcher for like 8-10k.

Basically, don't worry -- the economy always works its way out in these types of games.

I post them for roughly midways between the worth of the item and the selling price at the vendor.. IE: If a common MK II Phaser costs 1058 Creds, Id sell it for 529, and will post it on the exchange for 750 or so.

The exception would be if I find something really really neat (IE: A rare shield with 10% Phaser 10% Disruptor reduction)

I must be doing something right, since Ive sold everything Ive posted there sofar.

I sold a console on the exchange, of course I had it listed for 1000, and its retail was 1300 I think. Some people are greedy though...I mean, 10K for a starter phaser array that EVERYONE gets? Sheesh.

what i think is funny are the people that put the standard starting weapons on there for 500 when everyone gets that stuff for free when they start.... if i get anything that might be usefull for someone i usually put it up there for the price listed on it to the nearest thousand/hundred - better return then what merch's give, and faster sales then the same stuff people are trying to sell it for 100 times more.

in all honesty buying from the exchange isn't very smart even if the prices were reasonible - once you get your tier 2 ship you can get better stuff from doing explore missions then will ever drop for you... my O/B ship had 3 MK IV Plasma Beams and 1 MK IV Plasma Torp - while the best drops i was getting anywhere were MK III's - (and no plasma's).

Agreed the prices are way out of line, and some of the stuff being sold is just stupid. The starting gear should only be able to be sold to vendors.

It's a new MMO and I have a feeling some people are trying to take advantage of folks with the 'WoW mentality' they "all good drops are on the Auction House". Once things settle down, I'm sure the game economy will stabalize.

The 'Gold Farmers' sure are active as I had 4 spam STO e-mails alreday. :(

Worthless thread, as opposed to what "I quitting because X" "pink phasers OMG!" and the other obligatory whiny threads. All I'm saying is for people to be sensible, 200k for an item no where near worth that price is ridiculous.

    Kindly gtfo.

Shame we never got to keep our money from the beta - I was nearly up to the 1 mil mark

Still its fun to start all over again. Undercutting and overpricing is fun imo ;)

One of the main problems on the exchange is that most of the stuff doesn't show up in the proper category. Ship weapons and a few other things show up in the right place, but most of everything else shows up under commodities. Because of this, people trying to find what certain items are priced are not finding anything and thinking they can sell it for a lot since it seems rare. Second, people are not finding the items to buy so they don't get bought. I really hope cryptic fixes this problem soon.

It's actually a lot more sane than it was in beta... You could make some really good money selling pretty ordinary stuff for high price tags.

Also, once more people advance to higher ranks and sell off there non-bound older gear, the market will get a little more saturated. Ultimately, the exchange prices will start to settle into some kind of normalcy within a week or two I predict.

Keep in mind that you can't actually buy many items. Consoles cannot be bought for energy credits by any npc vendor. Many types of weapons cannot either. It would be silly to sell the things that can be purchased from a vendor for more than the value price, but things that can't be... well that value is only useful for determining sale price to vendors.

This will take some time ,like the server the economy will get better in time;)
But pay no attention to people that charge TRIBBLE prices there will be TRIBBLE buying them :D
Its like real life some will try to manipulate the market and some will be honest traders .
If you want the bargains ,well then you have to spend time at "exchange" , others will not and rather pay more than stick around the "exchange" hunting for cheap deals
Like in all games and real life some of us are more Ferengi than others :p

Well if it isn't a green or better then I wouldn't even think of putting it on the exchange.

ATM I have sold 3 stacks of 25 Tier 1 anomaly items (Red ones) for 2500 ec each stack. Sounds about right atm. The blue tier 1 items will be a lot more expensive if I sell them.

As for the other stuff, it will all settle down by itself once the economy gets really going when the game opens up for the rest of the people.

We need a way to search with a high/low credits option so we can weed out the garbage.
