Head Start Refund

At this point Cryptic has failed to deliver a head start that people paid for. I think some financial compensation is in order.

I would recommend a credit of $5 to every head start purchase as a credit toward monthly subscriptions or a refund for lifetime subscribers.

This actually isn't a post of WAHH THIS GAME SUCKS.. It is straight to the point. In a way, we were offered the option to pay to get a head start. And like was mentioned, due to downtime this hasn't happened. I just don't think they can legally list on websites "get a headstart" as a feature and not really offer it.

Also, I like the game, I am thinking about subbing, but still holding out to see what happens.

You fail. Either stop your whining or GTFO of our game. That goes for all the complainers.

You ALSO fail. I didn't pay for the head start, many people didnt. They paid for the extras and bonuses. The headstart was simply another bonus - and they are getting it, they should have used their brains and figured out what that entitles BEFORE buying it if that was their own reason.

Headstarts are almost always - Just. Like. This.

Use your head or AGAIN, GTFO out game.

Look if you really need your 5 bucks back...you should get a job and not play .....

I am as upset about down time as the next guy...but where do you draw the line and accept that at best, we might get a I am sorry. Might not get that, just saying , getting on and asking for 5 bucks back does little more than open you up for this kind of post, sorry:(

    "Early Start Program
This is only available when you preorder. Early Start is currently scheduled to begin on January 29th, 2010." - Direct2Drive

I think thats what they were referring to, many people are under the impression that the headstart is only available by preordering the game - which you do have to pay for.
I'm sure if noone paid for this bonus then they wouldnt feel cheated

Feel free to hurl childish abuse at me too but im not quitting, im not saying im leaving etc, im just pointing out a potential reason why people have overreacted

Dunno what you're going on about, I got me an 11-level advantage (more, if I get time to play tomorrow) over the live launch crowd

What if Cryptic offered a c-store credit to the head-start crowd by way of thanking us for being patient with the server issues. It wouldn't cost them anything really, and it might even drive future c-store sales for those not inclined to consider the option at all.

Please point out to me the portion of your Head Start EULA contract where it specifies that the servers WILL be up 24/7 no matter what, and you have a case
IMPLYING that there is such an agreement doesnt make it so

i think if you read the entire ToS you'd find you're getting what you agreed to and pay for. In case you didnt realize, EVERY major online game has bugs and issues with capacity when they start or release a really big patch or expansion.

    Just chillax.

I'm still trying to figure out what everyone keeps griping about in that they have PAID for this. I have $5.00 deposited at my local game store for my pre-order, thats it. The Lifetime sub excuse is a weak argument as this is a bonus start time not official release.

I've been in retail for almost 20 years and it's people with this kind of attitude that make noone want to wait on them or help them with anything as they have such an entitleist attitude that is sadly following the European model and becoming the norm here in the U.S.

I didn't notice the headstart till after I pre-ordered. And the pre-order was cheaper as Game have now put their prices for STO up, so technically I've paid less to access headstart. Win.

Hmm, actually, as nothing has come out of my bank account yet, I haven't paid anything for headstart. :)

And if you've bought a lifetime sub, what's a couple of days here and there...?

Still... on the other hand, the servers really should be able to handle the load that they're getting. Kinda shows a lack of faith in your own product to not provide resources for the amount of people that are trying to access STO.

It simply states that you can play before release. Did you play before release? Yes? Then it can't be refunded. You got exactly what you paid for.

I'm fairly pleased so far. Hey, I've been through the hell that was Star Wars Galaxies so really, this is nothing compared to that. It's a rough start but I've experienced it in every game. I'll just play another game if this one goes offline...then come back when it's up and running..no big deal.

The heck with headstart. I'd pay double for the opportunity to beat one of these fanbois with a shovel.

I'm sure they'd pay to do the same if they could so it goes both ways and doesn't make you a better person to call anyone a fanboi.

I made it to Lt. Comm in one day... I will probably make it to Commander before the game launches, regardless of server issues.

Any lvl above level 1 is a headstart when compared to the people who will play after Feb 2nd.

That being said, I fail to see your point. Cryptic never guaranteed you a perfect headstart. They just guaranteed you access to the servers before launch. Despite there being maintenance and such, you still have access before the official launch.

Fanboi: "A person who knows how MMO's work and who know that whining doesn't achieve anything except making the whiner look like a jackass."

You know what I did when I decided I didn't like what Blizzard was doing with WoW? I stopped giving them my money.

Every game launch has issues, I personally just expected more foresight from Cryptic. This isn't their first game release, they should of expected issues such as pbase caps. I mean it's Star Trek, did they really expect basic servers to be able to handle the fanbase?

Exactly, and when I decided to stop giving them money what did I say on their forums? Oh, wait, nothing. I quietly left without causing problems. ;) If only more people followed this kind of logic, eh?

I think that's reasonable. Lets see. You payed for the game. And revived Head start as a bonus. I have credited you the full $0 Cryptic owes you, have a nice day :D

P.S Your not even CHARGED until the 2nd.
