quests

Hi there all. My husband and I were playing last night and we ran into a few problems with the questing system. Will the devs be fixing the quest details/descriptions?

We have both already ran into quests that are too vague to complete properly.
For instance My husband was on a mission to send relief aid to a planet and they required him to collect 10 of some item, but did not specify where to get them or how.

Hopefully this will be updated pre-launch as I'm sure many other players will become frustrated.

good question; in beta I had that quest and I couldn't even beam down to the planet. Yesterday I did two missions and they didn't update in my log. So now when I can get back in, I have to redo those.

I know the mission you are talking about, and I had to go back to starbase to the commodities broker and buy the 10 food stores I thinki it was, then travel back to that system. My friend tells me I can use the replicator at the bottom of the inventory screen but I have no idea how to use that. A good game manual would be nice.

Tip. Ask in zone chat where you can get these provisions.

Personally, I wish we could get them from our replicator but as of now, you can only get them from starbase and random cargo/merchant ships in sector space.

I've NEVER seen them in the replicator. I've heard that before and looked in mission, out of mission, while talking to the guy.. nothing.

Oh I think I have seen that tab. But yeah like you I don't know how to use it. I had also went back to spacedock and couldn't find the NPC you are referring to. Well now I know what to do when I get that mission again.

You have to buy that stuff at a starbase, and its not cheap. You really are best off just warping out anytime you explore an unknown system and see "Aid the planet" in the quest description on the right.

A real pity that most players, myself included, will ignore these missions since nobody in their right mind would want to pay 1000+ in energy for a small amount of skill points.

Hopefully they re evaluate these missions.

Oh, the provisions can also drop when you kill things in combat, but not often enough that you can rely on that,

The replicator is like a vendor, you can buy food, commodities, and other odds and ends from your ship, and you can sell junk you don't need. Can't use it on the ground though. If the replicator isn't selling that, you can have one of you warp to sector space, find a cargo frigate that sells it, then fly back to your partner and trade it.

Back in beta when I had more time I think the most I had was 1500. I had to use it on something else.

The provisions and all were in the replicator during Beta. I don't believe they are there now. However, you can buy them at SOL station, or flag down any passing Federation freighter and trade with them; they'll sell the items to you.

If no one answers in /zone (or it scrolls to fast to read) you can always ask in the LFG channel. It is almost never used for LFGing, and is a good, quiet place to get answers to questions. Just bear in mind it is shared with the CO community. Sadly, there is no help chat channel, which the game could definately use in my opinion.

this is probably a dumb question, but are most of the instances solo play? I keep trying to invite my friend to help me out and for some reason he can never join me.

It should be allowing team mates in with you, dunno why it isn't. I don't think there are any true solo maps in the game atall.

thanks for all the replies guys, I kinda figured my post would be swallowed by all the forum spam. Good to know other people have the same issues. I really think a little bit more detail would go a long way. Also the cost vs. reward for certain missions as you've stated is just not worth even taking on the mission at times. ridiculous.

Soooo true Kamui, the sheer amount of spam used in all of the channels makes it virtually impossible to actually discuss anything of revalence to a mission or to ask for directions or whatnot. I've also already gotten spammed by sto gold farmers lol!

I too had an interesting time with this one. I got the mission in Delta Volanis, to bring back 10 provisions. They do occasionally drop but I went to Stardock and bought the rest to fill out the ten. I went back to turn them in but couldn't find the mission again (either the "continue mission" buttons weren't there then or I missed them). When I finally found it, the NPC didn't take the provisions out of my inventory but the mission still went to "complete." I have no idea what happened. Some of the missions aren't very intuitive.

go take a look at the other games forms that cryptic makes. Champions Online has all the same bugs but has been out for 6 months. So as for the question "are they going to fix it?" Who knows.

Yes, thats why i skip "ais the planet" quests if its possible, they are not worth the effort.

If anyone is interested I found this website on charater skills the other night, while trying to find a hint of a game manual from Prime or Brady Games.
