...good lord no! Why would they? It's pretty apparent Atari has given all the money they're going to give so it's up to the public to fund the rest of the development of STO. And fund it they will.
Sounds like things are going exactly as planned (insert evil laughter here).
How in the heck did the game get so good while the architecture is so borked? HOW?!

Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahn!
Because there wasnt enough posts already on this right? They know about the problem and are trying to fix it. Give them time. Theyve already said they massively underestimated the amount of players that would be playing. They even ordered tons more servers, and even more people started to play after that.
theres a limit to what they can do and how fast they can do it.
Complaining and whining on the forums is not going to speed anything up.
Far as I know Cryptic must release the game within the next 4 weeks or loose the IP. It takes time to setup new servers to distribute the load and like anything that is new and untested it will sometimes break.
I would bet my limited edition Enterprise statue on this causing some of the recent outages. It is unfortunate but that is the nature of the beast.
Atari owns Cryptic so it's on them to dump millions of dollars practically overnight to resolve these issues. Based on what we read so far this is pretty much occurring, unless Cryptic is breaking their piggy bank of contingency funds. We will never know.
Even if Cryptic is suddenly flush with cash to buy hardware and hire more support staff this all requires time. It took Blizzard, with Vivendi behind them, the better part of two months to make things reasonably stable. To this day it is still not perfect and Blizzard is cutting corners where they can (customer support) because they are told to do more with less.
Expect this to drag on for weeks. If you are looking for reasonable stable and working game it may take a while. The more that play the longer it will take. Expect a drop off of players, even WoW had that, and this will slowly become more sane later.
