If I remember correctly, The Ferengi were going to be a playable STO race, aligned with the Federation. When I logged in during Open Beta they were not available as a choice.
As an interested party, I was wondering, are the Ferengi coming later on down the road? Will the Ferengi Alliance rise up and dominate (economically, of course) the Alpha Quadrant?
I, for one, would welcome the opportunity to seek profit amongst the Starfleet or any other faction for that matter. Rule of Acquisition #35 comes to mind: "War is good for business!" There's war afoot, profits to be had, but where are the Ferengi (besides the merchants)?
I once heard that the Ferengi were even playable during the closed beta, but as I did not experience that myself, I have no way of knowing whether it is true or not.
Ferengiphiles need to take heed of Rule of Acquisition #45: "Expand, or die." It's time for aggressive expansion here, people.
In closed beta, the Ferengi were a playable race. I think the reason they took them out was some graphical issue they were having. Not entirely sure, but I agree they should be back in. If we can have Ferengi bridge officers, I fail to understand why we cant have Ferengi playable characters.
the cynical part of me wonders if they will available as microtransaction. It would be ironic that the Ferengi would be sold separately.
During Open Beta, one of the Devs responded on a Character Creator feedback thread that there were about 20 races in the works and that they would be implemented at some point in the game. I had interpreted it as being available at launch, but now with headstart only having a marginally improved character creator tool, I am not so sure. They still have not implemented hand options (claws, gloves) for females...
I'm glad that they at least implemented them in the bridge crew. I couldn't care less about liberated Borg, but I had to have at least one Ferengi on my ship.
Wow, that's a lot of variety, but then there are a lot of races in the Trekverse. I'm sure some of them will be aligned with the Romulans and Cardassians as well. But, here's hoping the Ferengi make it back soon!
I'm under the impression that the Cardies will be their own playable faction in the future, yes?
It would be neat if Ferengi could be played on multiple factions, giving them an almost privateer like aspect. They go where their lobes lead them. The greater the tingling the greater the profits!
I wish we could execute Ferengi Bridge officers... just my opinion
Still... if other players want to play them, don't see why they shouldn't be playable.
If the liquidators could hear you talk like that they would garnish your energy credits and repossess your ship! Then they'd toss you from the tallest spire of the Tower of Commerce! But thanks for the tiny bit of Ferengi love at the end of your post!

i hope so it would be nice to have a ferengi to scrub the toilets on my ship

If you pay your janitors in latinum then there should be plenty of down-on-their-luck Ferengi willing to take the job! Waste extraction maintenance is just the beginning! Today the toilets, tomorrow the galley, and then... Captain Spreck?
I was also hoping for a Ferengi Scientist.... You know then I could fudge my results and fake my death!
I really hope they put them in soon!

No autopsies! How can you expect anyone to make a profit off the desiccated remains of a prestigious scientist if the remains have been tampered with!?

Hard to even get noticed with all the server down complaint threads pushing everything else to the bottom

Sounds like a Ferengi is running the show down in Marketing if that ends up being the case!
Yes they were in CB.
They replaced them with a bunch of Generic humanish races... betazoid etcetc.
That would be prefect for the Ferengi, the personification of Greed and Profit have to be bought for their services. Just like in the show.

May your lobes always remain firm, my friend. Thanks for the shameless bump.

Agreed! Remember the 242nd Rule of Acquisition: "More is good ... all is better."
