Hey...at least they told us this time rather than just DC'ing us. And it's supposed to only be maybe 1.5 hrs of downtime! ><

The Servers can't seem to stay up at all. This isn't going well for STO. It is a great game on some really bad servers. Although, I would be betting they are either fixing or getting rid of the queue lines since the amount of people saying they are getting refunds.

What I'm really trying to understand is how the servers have been so unstable since head start while they were relatively stable during the closing part of OB.

I mean, you figure there are slightly less people now in headstart than in OB since OB had a lot of people who hadn't subscribed but were only using free codes. Headstart is all paying customers.

Wonder what they did between close of OB and start of headstart to throw things so out of whack.

This is the second time TODAY!

WTH are they going to do come Tues, take the server down every freaking day?!

Maybe I'm spoiled by Turbine but DDO and LotRO launch went pretty smooth.

I'd be jumping up and down for joy if that was the case lol. I was quite content last night, even with the few hours of down time. At least I got in 3 times and was able to get up to almost level 6. All day today, with the Queues and DC's I've managed maybe 10 minutes of play time. I'd rather have the server come down for 2 hours at a time every 6 hours and have those hours in between to play.

That's way better then sitting in a Queue and having it kick you back to the Login screen when you get down to a 100 and something. It's done that too me for the last hour....

im a tad peeved tbh, with the time difference from you yanks to us brits, ive seen maybe 2hrs of gametime in as many days with kicks, queues 4hrs of downtimes, etc etc. I have been starting to think lol that the 50mb patch we downloaded was in fact a cryptic error that reverted the game to day one of OB stableness, like Klingons still having fed boffs, lawl thats gonna sell well.

Either way Im here to stay, headstart is basically a way to iron out release bugs and ive been in worse headstarts than this. Time will tell for Cryptic, the pick up the slack and get a fairly polished product out, or they wither and die. I shall still be around for either.

Yeah, people are so spoiled these days, expecting a game server to actually have more uptime than downtime. The nerve of these brats.

I am with you as far as wondering that. The end of Open Beta was great in comparison to Aions OB. I mean, it seemed fairly seemless with some broken items, but seemed far more like touch ups. Now it feels more like the beginning of OB. I do think the servers should be up more often. They did post a week or two ago about getting more servers. I do hope they get them soon. I do love this game by the way. I actually gave them credit for OB being so smooth. I did Aions OB and CB. Which I found to Aions OB to be worse then their CB, but STO appeared to be really aggressively fixing their problems. I do hope they get on this one. It says something for a company that will focus on fixing, but it is a tough choice tons of small fixes or a few very large fixes.

I just want to get to the next rank. I am so close.

Most of these people are quite frankly just running their mouths. "ARGH I GON GETs A REFUND!" just like all the people who got a refund from WOW when it launched right?

They can't snap their fingers and make everything better, they are not Q.

Don't know what people are complaing about. It is fine to have some downtime as it's the end of the evening where I am in Europe. People should get some sleep anyway.

Ok, I'm hardly holding myself otherwise I'll get a ban for violating 20, 30 of eula but...

Server is down more than it is open....
Game keep crashes, we stuck in the midde of mission because server is stop responding, we stuck at " retriving charecter list" for hours and only pre ordered players are playing the game.

I'm really wonder what will happen after 5th when the game officialy reliesed at US and EU ? There will be much more players...

Will we wait for 4-5 at queue to enter the game ( I waited 45 min today to enter the game ), will the server be down for 12 -14 hours a day because of crashes ?

Dont even tell me beta is just finished, it is a new game etc " There is no excuse that many crashes and downtimes for a game at head start.... We payed more than official price to be able to play at head start but server is always close, I'm that angry right now god know how life time subscirber felling right nwo

Thanks Cryptic for the warning prior to shutdown. Appreciated.

Maybe you guys can post a warning even earlier so people don't get kicked in the middle of a larger episode (I for one was in the Starbase 24 quest somewhere on the base and couldn't complete it in time).
Maybe even a countdown would be nice for planed shutdowns.

But those are just tips for improvement. Thanks again for letting us know in advance.

I wonder if the 1000 instances in this game are whats hurting it. I have the most trouble with this game when I am zoning.

Eve Online has the same setup as STO does with everyone playing on one server and there servers crash atleast once on weekends but they also have over 50,000 people playing at once too. My suggestion for STO is to bring the servers down once a day early in the mornings when no one is on and do a rolling restart like EVE does. Maybe that will help their servers some.

The only good thing out of all of this is I was worried that would be to far along to want to go back to level up the Trill bonus that I get for the pre-order. Seeing that servers haven't been up long enough to even get to a tier 2 ship I don't really see this as being a problem now.

What I don't understand is why the 2 day downtime just to go into a headstart program that is really just a beta test. I actually think the servers have been down more during prime playing time (in the U.S.) then it was in open beta. The only thing I can think of is a money grab to get people to pre-order.

I'll give it a month. If things are still screwed up then the game will take its place on the shelve of shame next to AOC and I'll head back to LOTRO.

No kidding! Im only level five because of the non-headstart... I might just make that trill on teusday and see how I like it. >.>

Cryptic has said that they underestimated the load that we as players have put on the game and servers. It has also been mentioned before that other mmo launches we were worse and they were. That isn't being said as an excuse just as a reminder that nothing ever goes exactly as planned in the world of gaming.
