I think we can safely say there is going to be a bigger queue for those wanting their money back than there is to try and actually play this game......
what a disappointment after so much hype and waiting to enjoy this so called 'classic'
Who on Earth has just 1 server cluster for a world wide MMO?
agree i might be asking for a refund also. this is just stupid cryptic should know better my advice to cryptic is to go take some lessons from blizzard

I hate to say it but I was hoping for this to be a Good MMO I could play for year's but This 1 Server is BS and any Co. that think's this is the way to go Should look at Cryptic and STO they could have had a Muiti Million plaier base instead they will be lucky to have a 100,000 die hard fan's they get there money back but they could of have something Great. The game isn't bad it's the stupid **** they did. They can't blame no one but there self. I might come back in 6 month when the game is 10 dollor's or free trail but they can stick it for now. :-(
this is just another bad management descion(sp) for a major game. it probably really had nothing to do with the guys doing the development persay....either that or the company goes.."hey we can make this great game for you for X dollars." then they found out they didnt have enough money at the end of development for hardware for thier servers. (probably the reason for offering the lifetime subs, get thier money up front) sooo good going cryptic!!! low ball yourself into a butt load of complaints and looking stupid! and if it truely was just some pencil pusher going "hey spend this money on 40 extra hours of 50 employees doing development rather than 5 extra servers.(and im a net admin i know what a good server goes for, its not much in the scheme of things)" kudos to you for ruining your companys rep.
oh and BTW, if you think i or alot of other people are going to pay to sit in a que for 30 mins, then get on and get stuck at the first loading screen we come to(which has happned to me 2 times already) and have to relog in only to get stuck in a que of 500 + people again you really are plain stupid. i for one will be cancelling my pre order if this is still happening tommorrow.
this is no longer beta, get your TRIBBLE together cryptic.
 Ok after waiting in que for a long time...finally make it in...play for maybe 20-30 mins...almost complete a mission... then bam ! kicked out and placed back into the friggin Que ! im not gonna do this TRIBBLE over and over again.
"Thanks to everyone who took part of the beta and let us find new bugs, improve boring things and make the best game ever. We don't need your services anymore, so please go away. But don't stop paying, please."

I logged back in after 20 minutes of waiting and immediately got disconnected. Cryptic's lack of response is what will probably make me cancel my steam order.
At least Steam might actually provide a service and give me my money back. Too bad Cryptic, the game looked promising.

LOL....guess you missed blizzards release...please do some research...I would tell you how stupid you sound saying this...but Ill let you find out for yourself.

Blizzard's release was borked because it had record breaking sales at release and only had 20 servers to cope with that. There were no pre-orders and Blizz didn't know how popular it was going to be. All the people that are playing right now have pre-orders ... and they can't even handle that much.
So while you're right the Blizz had a crashtastic launch it was for different reasons. If STO breaks records for sales then maybe Cryptic will have an excuse but I doubt it.
I know I am not going to pay a monthly fee for a game that cannot be played. What's the point if you spend more time waiting to get in - over and over again because of DC's - then actual game time.
To everyone that thinks this is a bad launch you really have not played many MMOs at launch. This is going pretty well. I remember the good of queue in WOW, up to 8hrs. I am sure there is plenty of people that remember that and being on the server that went down for two weeks and locked up everyones account, that was even better.

Played quite a few at launch, actually.
I stand by my previous comments.
im in a freaking 1000 person line right now and havent moved for 20 mins now, this is absolutly TRIBBLE, Where does the refund line start?
It's odd. I log in, i'm like, 200 out of 1000 give or take, and i'm in in about 5 mins or maybe 10
my borther, is like, 100 of 1000, and didn't get in at all for 20 mins. i tell him exit and reque, he does, and he's 700 of 2000, and gets in in 5 mins...
it makes no since. (numbers of place in line are made up, but in the ball park. times waited are about right.)
I save all the usual QQ and complain... I just WANT REFUND!!! And I contact my LAWYER about that!I can understand many problems, if I see that some CM or DEV care the "stupid customers" and say something about the problem AT LEAST! But there is nothing than just stupid illogical queues and maintances "caught from air"...
My lawyer contact you shortly dear Cryptic... sry... I really like the game, but I doesn't pay for this!

I've been in many a launch day MMO's. CoH, Campions, SWG, Matrix, STO, ... wanting to think there was another....
And, no, none of others were quite this bad with down time that i remember. None of them had Ques. Buggy? Yeah. Laggy? yeah. but at least i was able to PLAY. No, this is prolly the worst, followed by Champions oddly enough. Cryptic, doesn't seem to be learning from there past blunders.
Makes me fear a 2.2.10 nerf when we log in... i wouldn't be supprised at all honestly....
If you pre ordered at steam beter ask for refund fast as they wont refund you when they will male you retail key... I did ask for refund about 3 hours ago when i found out about que,,, So do it fast!!

No clue what the problem with one server cluster is. It has multiple instances. I personally have never had a problem logging in and playing even during prime time on Saturday, when the server was up for about 7 hours straight before I went to bed.
That being said, I actually like the one server, multiple instances idea, for many different reasons.

You're a liar. You weren't at SWG launch if you think SWG was better than this.
Why? Because for the first two or three days of SWG launch the only thing people could do is log into the pre load chat channel and cry. You couldn't even LOAD the game and get to the game menu!
Keep exaggerating please.
PS Did Matrix even launch? I guess when you only have 100 people playing, launch days seem like gold.

Oh i was there. And i seem to recall PLAYING the game, all be it very laggly, the point of frustration. But I was able to do more then post on a message board, which is all i'm doing right now.( i had a pretty top notch computer atm, and a cable internet. I COULD play, even if you couldn't. ) Besides that point of contention, STO's launch mighte be a littel tiny bit better the SWG's, (for the sake of argument) and that's somehow a GOOD thing?

There were preorders for the game....Gamestop did preorders for wow and they knew a lot of folks were looking to get this game...and Im sure there were others...point being...They made a mistake as well..and the person I responded to..tried to make a point of saying blizz had it together. They did not. And I will stick to the fact that EVERY MMO I have played has had release day issues. Some worse than others, but they still had issues and the fools that complain on here for the most part if they had any clue what they were talking about would understand that shi! happens. Get over it or get out.
I have played almost every mmo out there, and in several betas/ launches
I am reserving my judgment on the game itself (this is pre-launch), but this is -the- worst pre-launch period I have ever seen.
DAOC still shines very bight in regard of MMO launch, and even though WoW had long queues, servers mostly worked, and you could pick a server according to region/ population at least.
This does not bode well for Tuesday frankly, we can at least hope they are using the supposed "headstart bonus" as a post-open beta moment to fine tune the server stability and increase server capacity as well.

I had such high hopes, too.

You sirs, are making me break out my small change to wedge in my keyboard to make sure I never have to log out again.

I mean really... Titannic engineers did a better job planning for all potential problems than this company has.
If it wasn't ready for launch, then why not hold off until it Is ready instead of driving this faltering lemon off the assembly line?
