Are me and my friend the only ones happy we bought lifetime?

seriously,
ive seen more whiny complaining people last 2 days for headstart then ive seen at any launch before. alot of which are people who bought the lifetime subs and complaining about the que's downtime, and such.

i have to say, me and i think i can speak for my friend, are rather surprised to say the least, as to peoples complaints. we both bought lifetime subs for STO, i was stuck at a zone loading screen for 10mins and disconnected, and he cant even get in at all. but we're still happy we did.

why is no one else? are we really the only ones?

and does it come down to our expectations being practical, too low, or others being too high?

OK I'm usually not so critical of others.

    But come on... really?

You and your friend haven't been able to play much at all and you are happy about not having $300 anymore?

I think you and your friend need to re-examine yourselves and read up on why it's IMPORTANT to be a discerning consumer in a capitalist economy. Because otherwise you're going to be paying large amounts of money for **** and being told you should expect it because all the competitors do the same thing.

    INSIST ON EXCELLENCE!

    Nope.

    Quite happy.

Been playing MMO's since 1996 and this is not my first rodeo... this isn't even close to being a failure. (I could write a novel worths of comparisons to other much more dismal launches, but I could care less atm, as it changes nothing)

    :)

I'm quite happy with my lifetime sub. Early in the life of an MMO I expect (but still dislike) some queuing and maybe even a crash herre and there. I am LOVING this game so far.

I am very glad I bought my lifetime.

I will be happy to queue for a while if it means adding more hardware, employees, etc., to keep STO going! I would have been really nervous if I logged in with no issue and then saw no one in the game!

I can't wait to read the gaming headlines next week!

    Go Cryptic!

    Go STO!

Nope not happy at all.. To get quality, I pay for quality and when I've paid for quality and get TRIBBLE.. Makes me a very mad camper.

I hope that Cryptic can add a folder for these folks and move their threads there! They can have a nice little cry party with themselves!

Please try to think of it this way - with the head start response Cryptic can take the chance and put more resources in to the game!

The problem is the more you "Understand" the less people try to fix launch troubles, and adopt this "They'll understand" additude. I've been playing MMO's since the 90's as well, but are you SERIOUSLY gonna compare 1996 to 2010? Comon man, 1996 we were on 14.4 modems! The fact is they're out of BETA, closing beta means product is going LIVE, if you need more time to iron out the bugs, then you are not ready to launch.

Nope, I bought the life time and special edition game and im happy as can be. I know the game will be working fine in a few days, until then ill play when I can and do other things in the meantime. The problem is all of the school kiddies freaking out about not being able to play before school starts back.

I was hoping to have a bit more time to evaluate whether I want to purchase a yealry or lifetime subscription, but I've been having a really good time with the game so far.

If everyone is so happy with the game, why is it they're here complaining about the complainers, when they could be playing the game instead?

I am happy with my lifetime purchase, but I am not happy to have to sit in a 2000 person queue when there is only 1 single server to attempt to login to. They clearly need to rethink the single server setup that isn't working for a more popular game then they are used to dealing with. The "rush delivery" excuse for new hardware was already used in open beta, if they didn't learn from OB and order extra servers for standby, then people have a right to be PO'd.

Happy here. I got the lifetime to save money in the long run over a regular sub, and for the extra character slots. I did not buy it specifically for the head start. Got a lt. cmdr 12 and two other toons out of the tutorial. Downtime is to be expected, I am not pleased with the queue for login, and I was NOT one of the people who requested it as a fix.

I was tempted to go lifetime but have chosen not to. The game itself is fun as heck, when you can play. My problem stems from lack of communication from forum reps or devs. I get that it was only a 2 year development, so there are going to be lots of things that need fixing. And WoW was no better when they released, but some info from Cryptic would be nice. After WoW, I swore I was done with terrible customer service, no matter how fun the game. Hopefully Cryptic will realize they need to talk to us and let us know what they plan to do about it.

glad i got my lifetime sub. For a couple a reasons.

    1) I'll prolly quit the game once I hit admiral and complete the raid-i-sodes, as there wont be anything left to do, that'll be at least 2 months or so for me.

    2) I can then come back when they realize "holy TRIBBLE this is star trek, we need to add EPICNESS" and play for 7 years like I did everquest :P

I'm really happy I'm a lifer... This happens pretty much to every new MMO release, yeah it's frustrating, but I'm mature enough to act accordingly.

Quite happy. With my 3 pre-orders I've in fact spent over $400, not just $300. I'm not foolish enough to judge the product this quickly. MMOs are works-in-progress by their very nature. Now if things don't improve over time, yes... then I'd be annoyed.

And it's ridiculous to expect high quality from a newly released MMO. Worse, I have the nagging suspicion you're idea of "quality" is based on MMOs that were released some time ago and have had years of post-release development.

Enjoyed the game during Open Beta and still do when I can play.

Purchased D2D deluxe and lifetime sub.

Just frustrated that the biggest login problem occurs 2 days before release, which unless this is just a 'bug' that has appeared means that the hardware system in place is not going to be anywhere near enough and will need to be increased quickly to anticipate the load on release day which due to time frame may not be possible.

Not being able to login due to a system limit is probably more frustrating to people than any bug that interferes with there gameplay as at least they can play.

    Happy? yes. Satisfied? We'll see.

I'd probably need a syringe the size of Delaware filled with Star Trek brand heroin before I got the kind of fix I need to make me wanna get out of my lifetime sub.

    P.S. I'm not a junkie
