Call me crazy, but many times in this forum people list a login que as a way to fix server crashes. And personally, I will be happy to wait to log in, if that means the server is UP when I do get in.

I do have to say though that if I purchased this game in a store, installed it, and then logged in only to find myself in a 1,000+ person queue I'd be pretty turned off. Maybe if they could put character creation outside of the queue ... or give those folks in queue something to do, maybe a mini-game. I dunno. But I have to agree with those who have said a queue in Head Start does not bode well for retail release.

Yes, we did
You can't please an MMO community.
I didnt realise there were this many idiots in the world

The point isn't that there's a queue for me. That's fine It really is better than trying to manually relog and get teh "Server is busy" message all the time.
My problem is that there's a queue of 1200 people in Headstart. This is only the pre-order people playing and they're already behind the 8-ball server wise. Did they really not expect a game with "Star Trek" in the title to be popular? Really? Didn't they know how many people pre-ordered?
If they are so woefully under prepared for just the pre-orders, what's it going to be like on February 2nd?

If you want to be so selfless for them to fix the servers, then why not simply turn off the game and come back in a few weeks?

Who's "we"? I don't remember asking for one. I was asking for stable servers.
Didn't we ask for the game to be more challenging?
Didn't we ask for the game to be less challenging?
Didn't we ask for a death penalty?
Didn't we ask for no death penalty?
and i said it was a mistake then, and guess what, they did it anyway. and people are leaving in droves. i was just ingame. for about an hour. got "disconnected from server"
now login queue in the 900's
I didn't. I asked for multiple servers with multiple settings for difficulty.
1: Spreads out server load so nobody has to wait.
2: Customers can play in a world that suits them.
3: Cryptic retains more subscribers. More than enough to merit multiple servers until the waning days of STO when population drops and they can lower the number.

Sitting in a que or the servers are crashed. What's the real difference, either way we're not actually playing are we ?
I don't have a problem with the QUEUE - there's QUEUES everywhere I have a problem with a 868 person queue of which I'm 644 (moved to 643 after 10 minutes) during the HEADSTART before the release of the game and the BULK of the players will be attempting to log in.
If I'm 644 out of 868 NOW, what am I going to be at 11:05AM MST February 2010? Or worse yet, at 3PM February 3rd?

It might not be too much worse on launch as I recon most of us that are going to want to play Star Trek Offline will have pre-ordered and will be trying to play THIS SECOND WHEN I WANT TO PLAY.
LOG OFF DAMN YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You'd think that with a queue the gameplay once you got in would at least be smooth and of a certain quality, but no. After waiting through 700 people, I finally got in, went to a system, and was kicked with no warning, no msg. WTF cryptic. WTF

They did, i read the post, I'm glad there is a que... But when i log in it que's me up, then 30 seconds later it kicks me out to have to wait in line again, anywho a que is much better then seeing " recieving list of maps " and crossing your fingers.

No pleasing some people
It's the ancient case of you can please some of the people some of the time.
Shouldn't happen to begin with. Cryptic should have taken the hind and done a major overhaul on their infrastructure before this.

ooooh yes....
But then again everyones definition of 'idiot' is different. *shrug*
Cant please everyone XD

I cant laugh too much, there was a time (not that long ago) when I might have busted a nut over this type of thing myself. It is frustrating. /shrug
But, i am suprised Cryptic hasnt sorted out this population thing yet.
people who are in the game will not quit for hours... now that they know about the Queue they will not quit as long as they stay connected.
so yeah you have 1823 people right now alt tabbing and looking for a way to complain.
oh make that 1828

EVERYONE WINS
I guess it makes too much sense to implement. -_-

Would you shut the hell up?
So a few on forum said "ok I want a qeue" and now suddenly the entire community wants a qeue?
Are you for real?
I DIDNT WANT A QEUE

some of us may be waiting until feb 2nd just to get in, in 45 minutes my place in queue went from 1294 to 1281
I really hope someone from atari is standing at line best buy with 200 servers in their cart right now
we aren't gonna have to face this after when game is officially out?
i mean to pay for a account and wait a hour just to get one doesn't see very errr legit :P
means your paying to wait in line :P
