I've been letting it sit just for fun after having gotten booted out of a Delta Volanus mission.
I'm currently 492/692 it started 15 minutes ago as 492/492. This is a terrible system. I never log on forums to complain about a game like this that just came out. I kept my tongue in Beta. But this is ridiculous. Did they not expect people to like star trek? Maybe cryptic should get off their buts and abandon that one server system of theirs and bring up a second shard and let people pick. Do an east coast west coast or something. ANYTHING... I really like this game.
But between powers not having real descriptions. For example, what does a photon grenade ACTUALLY do? Because that tool tip means nothing. They didn't learn anything from champions... sad.
So you're saying you kept your mouth shut and now suddenly you except the whole universe to turn around to read your mixed topic thread on a sto board not read by developers?

Certainly I posted bug reports, tons of them direct to the developers. I just tried to avoid the flame wars on the forums. I am just plain frustrated now though. I really wish cryptic would have learned from Champions. And why wouldn't this be read by the developers. Someone is parsing this I guarentee and this forum should be flooded with complaints till they post something concrete as oppsed to. "Hey guys sorry about the downtime"... Even blizzard is more vocal than that.
I'm in the same boat. I gave up after about 10 minutes and went to play Lord of the Rings Online instead. By the way, I've rarely ever had problems getting into that one (I play on the Elendimil server). I'm sorry but at this point there's no excuse. Using the excuse "its a new game" or "they didn't anticipate the response from fans" isn't cutting it anymore. Its not like STO is the first MMO Cryptic has ever made. Nor is it like STO is the first genre-based MMO either. They should have anticipated the response they would have for fans for this...its better to plan ahead and have over-planned than to under-plan and have a thousand angry fans.
This is TWICE now that I had a clear weekend that I had planned on using to play STO and can't because I can't get in game. When I actually get IN game I love the game...but I don't tolerate sitting and waiting to get in when I'm paying a fee to play (and yes, I'm a lifetime subscriber so I -have- been billed already). I thought they said they fixed this issue? Why do they refuse to go to a multiple server system like everybody else does? That would go a long way to alleviating the issue.
Im currently 154 and been sitting here for an hour. This bull TRIBBLE is why this game will fail, not from the bugs, gameplay, or content. But the fact that you just cent get in game when you want too and when you do, you lag to hell and when you get kicked from the game for whatever, you gotta sit in the damn queue for another 4 hours.
I started out at 529/529 its been a half hour and i've moved to 525/1389 tell me what was the use of paying for the lifetime sub if all i get to do is watch the queue screen???

I am also very reserved when it comes to flaming, but this tests my patience. Luckily for Cryptic I understand tho.
They never expected Star Trek to be this Popular. This is what happens if you send a businessman to buy a license. He doesn't know it's true worth.
I dont want to hurt you feelings.. But, Cryptic New the numbers coming in.. I was on the Forum dicussing this almost 3 years ago.. the forum I was on was HUGE about this game..
Star Trek, has been showing since the 1980s, Their are Huge conventions just for it.
Please dont give me that they did not know.. Oh They KNEW.
During Open Beta, We had the same Server full please wait problem.. They said they were going out to buy more servers to fix this problem. This is Just headstart. Which is basically the same Open beta players with about maybe 5 to15% increase in players.
Thing is, if the queue is realy full, they we have to wait for people to logout (or get booted) from the game.
Cryptic realy should have done a better job at capasity planning.
Its just really annoying that they didnt expect this. Like really Star Trek has a huge fan base. They should have known to have more servers, and perhaps even more shards east/west coast type of thing. The map transfers are horrendously long and everytime you go to do one you cringe because its like playing Russian roulette that takes you 5 minutes to figure out if you get the transfer or you get dropped by the server.
This game is stellar...well it would be if they could figure out these hardware issues. Im just about at Cmd and seriously in the time I have been playing I think there has been more downtime than active server time. Seriously what MMO can you play and get more studying done than actual game play?
Realistically this is Wow all over again, and realistically that is the only release which can be compared to this one in popularity, and we are experiancing the same problems now as we were back when Wow released. I expected something along these lines but the degree of complacence from cryptic regarding their hardware upgrades is astounding. When blizzard saw the response that their game had incurred from their customer base they had triple the servers up within a week. Cryptic has been having these problems since at least open Beta so what 2 weeks ish? This is a pitiful response time. Release is going to be a **** show.
Certainly. One's position in line should decrease the closer they get to their turn, or else some other indicator of how soon a person in line can expect to be let in. Even a simple "Now Serving # whatever" message would be good. WoW's queues give only your place in line (last time I played it, at least...3-4 years ago), CoH's servers don't ever need queues because there's 11 of 'em and a low-to-moderate player population. I like the single-shard design, but stable capacity should trump a unified player experience.
I hope those extra servers they ordered back in OB are up and running soon.

Apparantly it made *you* turn around.
