    thanks for letting us know...

hope not everybody receiving a spam mail will open a topic for that but since everyone already tells us in-game when they receive their first spam I don't have much hope

If you receive in-game tells from players trying to sell you something or advertising services please do not hesitate in reporting them to the GMs. We take these issues very seriously and will swiftly handle these types of solicitation in-game.

Right-Click on the person's name and hit the report spam button.

Reminds me of Aion and WoW's spam reporting function, I just hope the ignore list doesn't fill up every 2 hours.

whats the point the only transferable currency types aren't very useful. If gold sellers actually manage to turn a profit from this game it will speak loads about the intelligence of people who buy from them :D

I still don't see how they are going to sell "gold" in this game, with Energy Credits being so easy to get. Not to mention the other forms of currency, merit badges for example.

Not like it will matter. First, it takes you guys way, way to long to respond to tickets. You would have to set up a specific class of ticket and have several people responding to only those tickets on a constant basis to make it work. Second, these guys hack accounts. You'll end up axing more customers than you will gold sellers. Your best bet would be to educate your player base about ignoring the gold sellers and combine it with rampant enforcement. Not sure you guys have the manpower required though.

    Protip:

/whitelist_chat will prevent any incoming messages unless that person is in your fleet or in your friend list.

There are other /whitelist_ commands for email, duels, invites, etc. that do the same thing.

The gold sellers that sent tells to me were placed on my ignore list after I reported them. So my question is will they be removed from that list when their accounts are deleted, or will they remain on our ignore lists? If the latter, do we have limitless room on our ignore lists?

Are you guys actually banning people doing this? when we report spam does it send a copy of the email to you guys? I ask as I want to delete the messages after I report them, but will keep them if you guys need proof the person did it.

To those saying they can't stop gold spammers are correct but not entirely. Mythic did a very good job with WAR keeping the gold spam to a minimum by banning all the accounts that were spamming.

Was there still gold sellers? yeah, but there wasn't spam just an email here or there and maybe a tell once and awhile.

I'm receiving lots of private messages in the forum with energy-spam

I'd like to be able to report them as Spam.

    ^^ This ^^

..and transport them in cold space too! Before-the-nerf Briar Patch would do nicely.

The forum private messages and the in-game emails are the same system. When you view the messages in game, the reader window has a "Report Spam" button at the bottom. This will both add them to your ignore list automatically, and flag them internally as a spammer. If enough people flag them as a spammer(in either chat or mail) they will automatically be banned from using chat and email, and flagged so that GMs will investigate them and possibly ban them from the game.

However, we have no way to currently report them via the PM system of the forums. I delete them when I see them (like right now, when I'm waiting the the queue...). You want me to....leave them and then...log in and...check my PMs there...and report them? How about you just let us report people HERE?

That seems to explain why I didn't receive any spam messages until I posted on the forum...
Does that correspond with everyone else? Did everyone who received this spam also post on the forum before it started?
I'll have to look into the /whitelist option. Is there a /blacklist one too? So I can blacklist by Subject for example, as for now all my spams have the exact same subject: 'Cheap_STO_Energy'.

Getting the same messages, title is always the same 'Cheap_STO_Energy'.

Short term solution - ban anyone sending messages out with this title? (Since I presume it's automated).

Have to agree with the others here, we need a way to report this from the forum interface.

I too would like to see the ability to report PMs via the forum as spam. Especially at the moment with a queue system being used. I don't want to spend hours queuing to get into the game then wasting play time reporting spam.

If you want players to report spam so that action may be taken, allow it to be done from the forum as well, please.

Mailbox is a lot easier to get to here in the forums than traveling all the way to a Starbase, so a lot of these are gonna go unreported. :(

You can access your mail from the general UI (try clicking on the downwards pointing triangle to the side of the map at the right or the screen). You don't need to be at a starbase.

But surly one of the positve points of Cryptic using it;s own RMT shop is that it will set the value on currency etc, so the gold farmers will need to undercut the c-store to attract anybody.

Although saying that Tabula Rasa had a ton of very desparte gold sellers from day one even though it was insanely easy to get money and towards the end I reckon there were more farmers than players.

Basically a single player game with a few multiplayer aspects, not a MMO.

10vs10 combat ala Gamespy, not a MMO.

Small scale instances like Guild Wars, not a MMO.

Just because they are charging you money each month for a game that should be free does not make it a MMO, it makes you gullible.
