................ must anger you, to see you spent money on a product:confused: that is no different than Open Beta, and shows a serious lack of COMMUNICATION from developers ,with random "server downtimes" with no warning or explanations. Suck'a!

Not really. MMO launches go this way. Two months from now, it won't even matter. Sixteen months from now, I doubt I'll even remember it. I've been part of launches that have gone a lot worse than this. Still feel the money was quite well spent, thank you.

Logically, because STO is considered an MMO, it NEVER will be finished.

No, it doesn't "anger" me. As a matter of fact, it gives me the chance to come read all of the imbecilic posts from people that are angry because they can't play a game that they haven't even paid for yet. :)

Not upset in the least. I'm not even frustrated. I know how it works, and prepared for it and therefore don't need to nerdrage.

I'll gladly play the MMO you developed in the meantime though. I hear its rock solid.

The "Defense" in your words almost makes me think you dropped 200+ on a subscription . LAUGHING

I've spent more money on things that have entertained me far less than this game does, despite any issues that may be happening right now.

I've also been through enough MMO launches to not even be close to bothered by what we're seeing right now.

I bought a lifetime sub because I'm not in any kind of rush to max out and then whine that there is nothing left to do in the first month of release.

So I could care less about normal launch stability issues.

Proud Lifer. Want to play, Wish servers were up. Am I mad that they aren't? No. This is the way MMO's go.

You critisize those that paid for a lifetime and they all understand this is what happens. What makes me laugh the most is you signature says you aren't a lifer, but plan on being when the game is stable. That makes you a hypocrit.

Oh noes! Server outages the second day of release!

Doesn't bother me. I know how these things go. I haven't even been around too many MMO launches and I know how these things go. All it takes is common sense and a single iota of knowledge regarding how large scale server applications work.

The only thing I'm disappointed about is not being able to get Lieutenant Commander today. But I have plenty of time ahead for such things. ;)

Now you need to lay off the pipe. There's no "defense" there as there's nothing to defend. I have a lifetime sub, and I'm not upset. Perhaps you're too busy trolling to notice the little Server button that is green when its up, red when its down. Its color coded so even you should be able to get some use out of it. There's your communication, unless you are an tech at their hosting facility, you don't need to know more.

I dropped $200+, cause in the real world, that's a drop in the bucket. I've had lunches that cost more.

If we purchased a lifetime simply to play this weekend, then you would almost have a point.

BUT, the very concept of Lifetime subscription is that we will be playing far beyond a single opening weekend.

And the vast majority of those who purchased a Lifetime have enough experience with MMO's that we know the issues of the first few weeks (I said weeks, not hours) will be forgotten over the longer haul.

We don't play MMO's for the weekend thrill. We play them for the long term entertainment.

Am I disappointed that the servers are down? A tiny bit, not even that actually. I knew the servers would be down this weekend.

Is there an up side? Yep, they are down because there are so many people playing. And the only reason there are so many people playing this weekend is because they all bought the game.

SO yep, I'm content. If the problem is still here come March I'll be a bit more mystified. So ask me this summer.

Spending money on Products is easy - the hard part is to have a job that pays well.

    Sorry, that you don't :)

Considering that this is still pre-launch gameplay..lifetimers are the "only" ones giving them money, cut em a break..they have to see who they have and who they don't before they can figure out how much they need to spend on servers.

    Its day -2

Doesn't bother me one bit. A little explanation would be nice, and an ET, versus just a "Undergoing Maintenance". Otherwise, I am content. I have a lifetime sub, so downtime won't ever take away from the time I am allowed to play, while people with monthly subscriptions are paying to not play.

People who bought lifetime subscriptions did so to enjoy the development of the game over time. It's the people who pay by the month who need to make the most of every second.

No different than what i expected for an MMO starting up. So far i feel like the game is going on par as to how it should. And i see plenty of communication from the Devs so i don't know where that comes from. And every MMO i have ever played has random downtime every now and again, it is just unavoidable, especially for a new MMO. So not angry.

I think what this really is about is you not having a lifetime yourself. You just advertise it's because you want "a finished product" and the hope that Lifers are upset is what makes you hate yourself slightly less for not having one in time.

if you have a problem with the way things are going right now and are whinging about buying the lifetime subscription, heck give it to someone who would appreciate the game for what it is, i love star trek and this game is an answer to all that i have wanted in a star trek game, be glad you got the lifetime subscription, and like i said if you dont like the way thing are, give that subscription to someone who would appreciate it!

I bought a lifetime sub even after I cancelled my DDE from Steam. Its a better than typical launch not trying to sugar coat it; I was ****ed about not having my liberated borg for 7 hrs particularly when it took Coderanger 5 minutes to fix. But everyone here is really only thinking about themselves. If I have no problems then too bad for the people that do as long as I'm okay. Cryptic have to cater to all of us, and some of these problems are not 5 minute fixes. Some players, even ones that have no intention of buying a retail code, will not be catered to by Cryptic in a timely or satisfying fashion and they will leave; some not quietly.

But the number one distinction between a lifer and everyone else is they believe hard in the products future, regardless of what is happening today. I was really surprised by how many people bought lifetime and you can see that as a nod to the IP or Cryptic or both.

I think what it comes down to, whether you like what you see here or not, is that this is the only Star Trek MMOG on the market right now.

Either you are in, or you are out.

By supporting the product and the developer overtime hopefully things will get better and potentially better content and results will come from the IP. If it fails this doesn't bode well for the IP regardless of how compelling it is.

I don't know about spoiled, but they clearly need to find something to do with their time than just one game. If anyone is anything beyond annoyed about down time, expected or otherwise, they clearly have some issues that may require professional help.

Unless this is only your first or second MMO launch, people should be quite. If you haven't gotten used to MMO launches by now, you should just stop playing MMOs at launch and wait for 3 to 6 months before even bothering to even consider considering the thought of possibly considering buying the game. They are never stable a launch and that's just the way it is and will always be.

    Word.

I told several of my friends about the game. The basics of how the Space combat works, and the missions that I had seen so far. I told them about all of the STO races that were available, and all of the cool Star Trek sounds.

None of them, not one asked about stability or bugs. Veterans all.

Quite simply ill be the one saying 'sucka' when 4 months down the line your thinking "I wish I got that lifetime sub". And then even moreso when im playing after 14-16 months for absolutely nothing while everyone else still funds it for me.

I don't have a lifetime (1 month recurring here) and I know exactly how games like this are at launch. Hell, this is one of the BETTER ones I've played, since I had my first login crash just about half an hour ago. And I've played since the last few days of OB.

Honestly, if this is a big deal for you, you need to stick to your offline games. No MMO is devoid of issues, and every single one ever launched that had a monthly fee suffered from these problems at their start.
