have you noticed that the default NPC uniform isn't even the default for the Player in character creation? My pet peeve is that you can immediatly tell who's a PC and who's an NPC, because no one uses the NPC style uniform. I think that the NPC's should have semi randomized uniforms, from all the available styles and color patterns, not just the basic NPC style, or at least they should wear the default player uniform.
I absolutely agree that you should be able to create a template, save it, and apply it with a single click to any character. In fact, an exact duplicate of the captain's uniform should be the default for all new BOs. No clicking.
I completely agree. We should be able to define a "Ship's uniform".. and have a special colour we can specify, where the standardized department colours will appear.
I'd also really like to see some way to make the "generic uniform" that you see people at Starbase 01 wearing. The default colours for that particular set of pants and uniform top don't even match the ones the NPC's are wearing... so there's a lot of guesswork to try and make your main character match the npc's. And there's so many variations on black and grey.. it's hard to know which colours the NPC's are using.
I don't even dare to get creative on my uniforms because I really have a hard time to remember all the settings and don't want to litter my desk(top) with notes as each of my captains has his/her own uniform.
When you create your character you can create a save by clicking on the save button at the bottom of the screen and then use the load option for your Bridge Officers, I have all of mine wearing the same uniform. I haven't found a way to change the NPC uniforms, I would defineatly like a ship uniform option.
You should be able to have a standard uniform across the board, one for each class on your ship. Same should be available for your fleet. I can set my own uniform as a template but you should be able to set a uniform template that all can use and I shouldn't have to pay energy credits just to set a template for each class of officer.
Heck, I'd also like to be able to choose the race of my 'unnamed' at the moment I'm going for a mostly Human crew, but it would seem every now and then I get a random non-human on my bridge.
Gamebreaking for me? Not at all... my idea can wait forever.
Back on topic. I like the idea of a defult Uniform.
At the moment I'm using the uniform templates and just making minor adjustments so it's easy to remember. It would definitely improve the immersion if all the "red shirts" had the same uniform as me and my BOffs.
I, too, would love to see an option to create a universal officer uniform for my crew; likewise I would love it if I could specify which sections of the uniform get the standard red blue or mustard so I don't have to go through and re-colour people (though that wouldn't be too big of a deal for me).
Except....
My Star Trek II-IV (Wrath of Khan) style uniform. Every one of the officers wore the same uniform colours; their career paths were likely defined by the medals on their shoulder strap. (which, by the way, the Devs ignored. Doesn't bother me too much, it looks like it gives me Kirk's Admiral rank from the movie. ) In this case, I wouldn't want any particular section of the uniform to have a career colour.
Then there's my TOS uniform: The career colours were different back in the TOS days. Yes, science still got blue, but engineers and security wore red and line officers wore yellow (Except Star Trek never did quite understand what a line officer was, so staff officers like scientists, doctors and engineers would take command in the captain's absence; so perhaps instead of saying "line officers" got yellow, I should say that tactical and navigation officers got yellow).
Then again, Worf was security chief and primary tactical officer (very busy man) but wore engineer yellow. Perhaps it reflected his dual role or his command position, but it just ended up feeling like even the writers, and directors had no intention of colours reflecting career paths and picked them based simply on what would look best on that actor. At least in TOS it seemed more structured, likely because Roddenberry intended it to be.
Er... Waffling, sorry. Yeah I'd love to put my entire crew into a uniform template so they can look... well... uniform.
Also, if they ever allow us into the rest of our ships, I'd love it if we could design duty uniforms for security officers, engineers and enlisted crew so that I don't have the entire crew wearing the fancy Wrath of Khan tunics as if everyone is a ranking officer. If they didn't give us the other crew uniforms from the ST movies, I'd just end up putting them in TOS uniforms. ^.^

From what I know, and whats on Memory-Alpha, division for the Wrath of Khan Uniform is as follows: White-Command; Gold-Ops., Helm, Engineering; Light Green- Medical, Sciences; Grey-Gray operations division, communications and navigation branches; also sciences division, scientific research and technical branches; Dark Green operations division, security branch; Red cadets, trainees and junior officers; Light Blue special services; and Black - enlisted & noncommissioned officers.
The medals on the shoulder strap indicate rank.
Anyway...
I agree on default uniforms for ship's crew.
I bought the digital deluxe version of the game and I cant dress my crew in the Classic Star Trek uniform, even though it appears as an option. Would be nice to have my crew dress the same plz
I would also very much like to see this put into the game... or, at least, a way to create the three uniforms necessary for your divisions (Tactical, Sciences, and Engineering), and have the "generic crew" automatically wearing their appropriate uniform.
As for the ToS and TNG uniform colors (as previously brought up)... Gold (in ToS) was for Command, Helm/Navigation and Tactical, and Red was for Ship's Services (Engineering and Security). In TNG, they reversed those two colors. Seeing Worf and Tuvok in Gold uniforms was actually the color they should have worn - they were both Security Officers (though they both pulled double duty as Tactical Officers as well).
On a side note - I find it kind of humorous that the Wrath of Khan "Admiral's Uniform" actually displays the rank emblem on the shoulder bar that belongs to the rank of Captain, not Admiral. Personally, I prefer the Captain's badge over the Admiral, but it just struck me as kinda funny. /shrug
Agreed. Even though I do wear the uniform that all the BOs wear (#2 on the list), I alter the colors to make it red/blue/yellow on black instead of red/blue/yellow on charcoal/brown/grey. It would be nice to see all BOs fit the same color scheme, instead of looking a little dirty.
It would also be nice to have that uniform top in the same cloth as the loose bottoms, but I guess I demand too much.

We'd have to create a template for each discipline though. You can't have your science officers running around in red.

I would love to create a Ship Uniform Template, so that as soon as I get a new BO, I can apply the template for instant uniform dressing.

>.> Sorry, waffling again... Bored... Server's down.
That's all from me, I guess.
Ship wide dress code would be nice, but also the option to just save uniforms instead of the whole appearance.
