Things that HAVE to change before Feb 2

Ok, here is a list of stuff that has to be changed before Feb 2, keep in mind the folks
that will be buying the game then are prob not hardcore trekies...THEY are already here.
It will be casual players.

1. Option to turn off tips -- I feel rediculas even having to ask for that.

2. Joystick bindings -- I know you wanted to make it 'feel' all strategic..the cold hard truth,
I spend more time trying to find the right button to do stuff and constantly trying to adjust the camera so I
can see where I am going..ect. INSTEAD of enjoying the game. joystick bindings...yesterday

3. Camera control - need a choice to have the camera follow our ship and stay in the alignment
we place it at rel. to our ship....having it free is useless, cuz then we gotta keep moving it
and we are already too busy...having it lock on target lets us run into rocks...big ones.

4. Ground combat - option FPS mode....break out that old quake game...ya, like that..we can hotkey
the BO's commands

5. ability to make macros to put /slash commands on the hotbar

6. Have the exchange REJECT starter gear....it clogs up the exchange and nobody wants that junk.

Note..I would have added 'radar' but the map can be resized and used for that purpose so
is not a burning issue.

There are a bunch more things but they are not critical

all 6 of these things will leave a bad taste in the mouth of any casual gamer trying this game for the first
time. I recommend they get fixed before Feb. 2

if they put out a small patch, with just those 6 things in it...the game would be greatly improved from a game mechnics point of view.

I could say spelling and grammar are one of the non-critical things, but they aren't. They are absolutely needed in a game put out by a professional company, for crying out loud.

Thank you Fatherfungus, Those tips are horrible and at the very least need to add an option to turn them off. It gets old when you test out new builds of characters and have to listen to them and have them pop up every single time.

I doubt the engine is even coded for it. Which I don't mind at all, as I hate FPS games.

    1 I agree with.
    2 Not going to happen.
3 If I'm not mistaken there are different settings in the options.
4 This is a MMO, not Quake, you want FPS MMO, go play Planetside, ain't gonna happen.
5 Depends on what all would be allowed in macro making.
    6 I agree with.
    7 Radar/mini-map I would love to see.

But as a person who is a casual gamer, 2 4 would NOT effect a casual gamer in any way shape or form.

Think you forgot one: working servers :)

Also, it would be great to have some better gamepad support... A 360 controller currently works great for ground combat with a little tweaking, but it does not work well enough to replace my keyboard for space combat just yet (primarily due to the camera issues and some binding issues).

Alot of changes need to be made, but its not going to be by tueday the 2nd. Give it a few weeks like Cryptic said and there will be a nice huge patch of fixes and additions. The game is incredible so far, just be patient for the fixes. Just like Cryptic said, "We will listen to the fans and put in the game what the fans want".

May not be an issue with most of you, but with me it is one big issue ...

Running in video mode Fullscreen 1280x1024 my cursor is VERY TINY. When in Melee, I loose my cursor and cant find it to click on Away Team commands ... In space I cant find it to click on command bar skills that I haven't bound yet ...

Either make a Larger Cursor, or give the player an option to select their Cursor Pointer Format ...

Or use the keyboard I find the keyboard is faster especially when it comes to space.

I am constantly, without fail, having one of three things happen to me in every single mission I attempt...

1:) I get booted from the server mid mission and since I was in it solo...takes me like 15 minutes or more before i can log back in with the server finally realizing where my toon is/was.

2:) I complete a mission and then go to leave the system and the game wont allow me to. Just keeps popping me back to the same instance over and over til i finally have to log out, then wait 15-20 min for the server to find my toon and let me log back in to sector space.

3:) i actually complete a mission and manage to get out. i then hail starfleet and select a reward,,,um...wtf is it? No reward in inventory. No it wasnt an officer i know how to assign those Im not an idiot. it was a MK II phaser array. Never got it and no option to go back....just screwed...

I really hate to say this... I played beta for 2 weeks and got to lvl 15....
Im having FAR more issues with the game in head start than i did in Beta....and I mean FAR more.

FFS I made lvl 7 in about 5 hours yesterday when things seemed stable...
Not the case today for sure.

I'm a casual gamer, and most of these things don't bother me at all. I really couldn't care less if I could play in FPS mode.

My tips don't pop up at all. It flashes a little thing in the bottom corner if I want to bring my tips back up or if it has something new to tell me, it doesn't auto pop up on me. Also new gamers will want to see those tips, especially new casual gamers. But anyway you seem to be having a problem with them that I'm not, which is confusing.

There really aren't many buttons to the game at all, I don't find myself having any problems pressing the right buttons. I guess I don't care one way or another if there is joystick control. It's an okay extra option to have but driving people off, no, I don't think it will.

The only thing I really think can and should be changed and could be changed easy and fast is the Exchange. An update to the exchange would be nice, with multiple changes to make it more functional. And if they want to let newbie starting gear that nobody is ever going to buy get put up there, give us a filter button that filters it out of our lists automatically.

It's also funny to see people buy stuff at a Ferrengi ship right outside of the area and put it on sale for 2-3 times as much in the exchange. That's a different issue than this, but I wish I could change the way things are listed and filtered more so I can bypass a lot of stupid things like this too.

The camera one is there already...I forget not being in the game, but it is either the X or C key that turns off the keep the target on the screen to you control camera and it stays where you put it.

Apart from #4, which is a freakin' terrible idea considering the nature of the game, I am more or less indifferent.

I think this targets a very small group of people, on the other hand I am building a touch panel Keyboard that looks like a helm panel, with all the controls tied in to it. The coolest part is going to be the big red torp button, once I get it done that is

    3. Camera control - need a choice to have the camera follow our ship and stay in the alignment
we place it at rel. to our ship....having it free is useless, cuz then we gotta keep moving it
and we are already too busy...having it lock on target lets us run into rocks...big ones.
You can set to follow in options

    4. Ground combat - option FPS mode....break out that old quake game...ya, like that..we can hotkey
the BO's commands Their working on this, it was there breefly in OB

    5. ability to make macros to put /slash commands on the hotbar
People have been able to do this, I haven't tried, but others have

    6. Have the exchange REJECT starter gear....it clogs up the exchange and nobody wants that junk.
    I agree

Note..I would have added 'radar' but the map can be resized and used for that purpose so

A pulse rader like in Halo would be nice
