On the chance that our issues may be network-related rather than directly related to the load on Crytpic's servers, please post your location, your ISP, and the issues you've been experiencing. If there's a pattern of some sort, maybe - MAYBE - Cryptic will look into it.

Location: United Kingdom

ISP: BT

Issues: Long load times; frequent server drops ("server not responding"); constant, horrible rubber-banding when I am able to maintain a connection.

BT is notorious for this. Activating the EU proxy often helps.

During OB, Cryptic said that they are installing new hardware, so we will not get this “Server not responding” + 40k ms ping any more.

I guess that the new hardware have not arrived yet , so we shall patiently wait for it to be installed.

    it’s a rip off.

All you have to do is to tell us the truth , that’s it, no more ..no less.
But no , you choose to ignore your potential future customers.

That’s not the way to conduct a business, that is your way down the hill.

ooh, i am playing several mmorpg without a problem, so dont lie to us !!
if Blzzard can deliver a smooth experience, without “Server…” and tons of lag, so you also can.
It’s only about getting your money out of your pockets and buy some hardware.

I'd love to use either of the proxies, but whenever I do, I get disconnected from the account server the instant I log in. Every single time. It's been like this all the way through open beta. And what's weird is that when I played Champions, I was able to use the proxies. Are you guys sure everything is hooked up right with regard to STO?

Thanks for the reply Codemaster however it is NOT BT! Nor is it helped by the Proxy.

My Wife using windows 7 64bit using the same hub gets perfect connection and can play the game (occasionally being booted but that's to be expected). She has completed the tutorial in almost a single go.

I Can connect perfectly and have so far spent since around 7:30PM GMT (2hours) getting from the mess hall on the "player ship" to talking to the EMH Face to Face, which has taken me 2HOURS! I am unable to move in any kind of controlled manner have a 2-5min lag on my actions (yet can see other people moving around quite happily) I have tried using the proxy but this doesn't work either. And you can't put in a bug report as it comes back with the response "Server timed out creating bug report" or something similar.

Are the servers over loaded or is this another problem?

    IP - BT

Can anybody with these problems actually connect to STO using the European proxy from the launcher? As I said, I get disconnected from the account server whenever I try.

win 7 - Nope, i am a child of XP and will stay that way till i die! (or my machine does...)
Nvidia card - Your gonna ask me something crazy now... like what it is? Erm.. Geforce (4 random numbers here) ??? :-)
BT Broadband - Unfortunatly, yes. I gotta get rid of these useless prats one day however.
bang up to date Jan vvista drivers - I think all my junk is up to date, good chance nothing is however :-)

I played in beta fine enough, until the end when it just got to be so lag heavy i gave up. It was a tad bit like this, but less typical :-)

When you start the launcher and log in, before hammering "ENGAGE" hit options, and you can select a proxy to use.

I just used it, and it let me run the game for all of 2 mins, where i noticed my character has lost her first BOff, and then promptly got dropped kicked from the servers again :-) Ahhh headstart. Gotta <3 it lol.

In the launcher, there will be an "Options" link at the top. When you click on it, a popup will open where you can set some features. There will be an option to set a proxy connection. You will have 3 choices: None, US, and Euro. If you're connecting from Europe, picking the Euro proxy SHOULD help with stability. In my case, all either of them do is disconnect me from the account server when I log into the game.

If you or anyone else reading this thread could try connecting with the Euro proxy and report on their success or failure, it would be appreciated.

I have just logged in using the EU proxy, it ran stable for a few mins to, then promtly kicked me off the server when i changed zones. So i don't think the proxy is borkey, just the servers are not cut out for all our awesome nerdyness :-)

    Okay, update:

I was double-checking my security and compatibility settings. Turns out, I didn't have GameClient.exe set to run as administrator. After checking that off, I tried logging back in using the Euro proxy. It worked! Now, in addition to that, my connection WAS much better, and all lag and rubberbanding was gone. I'm not so quick to say that this is a solution, though, as people who aren't running Windows 7 are also having issues. Also, it could be a case of BT easing up on the traffic shaping. It is 10:19 PM here, after all.

But, I do again urge everyone who's posted in this thread to try turning your proxy on and seeing if that helps. If it does, see if the connection remains solid tomorrow evening as well.
