For what its worth my Space bar is broken directly as a result of my playing this game.

While it still functions, it is perpetually fully depressed and I must press down on the center of the key's mass in order for it to register as being pressed.

From Open Beta to Commander in release wore my keyboard out.

Amen to that, im breaking both my spacebar and my thumb, its so stupid, let us fire them all on auto or you might as well remove it, spamming space is getting old fast.

Just another post to say how much we need this.

I don't ask for much. No torpedo auto fire? That makes sense. No ground auto fire? Fine. Just full energy weapon autofire. No autofire, no peace.

I can't agree with limitless auto-fire selections but I must say having the freedom to do any two slots on auto-fire is a must. Just 1 forward and 1 rear is a little too limiting.

/signed. I don't understand wtf is wrong with the devs. this has been a glaring problem throughout the entirety of beta (space autofiring) and they arbitrarily removed ground autofire.

I just don't get why. Playing literally hurts my hands now.

is having to ice our wrists after playing some kind of requirement now?

I just got into a higher tier ship with more weapon slots, I was like wtf, why can't I autofire? apparently it's disabled for some godawful reason.

this is a problem, please fix it

edit: the weird thing is that this is like 10 year old technology in MMOs

actually, come to think of it ... this is enough of a TRIBBLE up to make me quit the game until it's fixed. I know people say that a lot and it seems weird, but it's true. when I got out of the starter ship into the one with 4 slots I was like COOL! and it worked out great. beam up front, beam in the back - both on autofire. and the torpedos are manual.

however, in my new ship everything is all out of sync and I'm stuck spamming the spacebar. ... the fun factor just kind of went through the floor to some degree. every single time I have to meaninglessly hit the spacebar it draws me out of the game experience ... it breaks the experience in a small way but add it up, after 10,000 meaningless space bar hits ... the suck-factor is breaking through.

and it just doesn't .... well it doesn't bode well for a game if something as simple as this can't be gotten right.

Although I would like the option of autofire on any/all energy weapons, I've actually disabled it on my ship for PvP because of RSP. When that goes up I need to stop firing everything except torps.

Yeah, I would prefer a toggle. Press fire once, weapons autofire. Press fire again, they stop firing. That way we would have full control over our weapons without any discomfort or just being plain bothersome (same for shield reinforce, setting should sticky until it is changed).

Also, I'm taking a break from the forums. The game really is more enjoyable if you do not read the forums. So Cryptic, here is the last bump and hope you read this and do something about it!

Seriously FFS cryptic, didn't you guys say in an interview that what makes your team so special is that you listen to your community?

    Yeah?
    Well...GIVE US AUTOFIRE ALREADY

jesus h chexmix, you would have THOUGHT that autofire would have been a no-brainer...i have NO joy for smashing my spacebar and it really takes a lot of fun out of gameplay

Currently, only 1 fore and 1 aft weapon can be selected for autofire. This becomes a problem when playing in higher tier ships. Before the forums were wiped, there was an autofire post that had much support, with over 500 posts and 20k views.

    Possible solutions include:

    Allowing auto-fire on every weapon;

    Allowing all beam/canon type weapons to auto-fire, whilst torps remain manual;

Turning the 'auto-fire' button into a 'fire weapon when possible' button, thus bypassing any potential problems with power drain due to the game mechanics.

    Thanks.

    Thats just marketing talk
Autofire should have been in this patch, since as we found out, it's only a UI limiting setting, since the engine already handles multiple weapons autofiring if you "bug" it out.

Abso-fragging-lutely need autofire..at least on the arrays just 1 fwd 1 back is stupid and constant spacebarring is getting very old.

And i also hate lack of true 3d tired of circling like a sopwith camel trying to get height enough to photon someone

and should be setting to not show armour and kits ... like wow no helmet no cloak...whats the point of having dig download and TOS uniform when everyone looks the same in armour as they wander round Spacestation..unless u remember to remove when beam in...and to not sell by accident..and to put back on. just want option to not display armour n kit

That'd be fun.. mind they dont even read bug reports.. i've had one up for 2 weeks without even an auto response.. i've even edited it twice to bump it...

It woulnt be so bad if the phasers fired every 10 r 15 secs.. but every 4 is mad space space space grrr

People have asked for this, or non repetitive key press combat, since closed beta.

Cryptic has responded by removing auto fire for ground missions.

I don't think this is likely to change any time soon. At least, not for the better.

i was able to set 5 devices on auto fire i also noticed that front and aft can be set appart. First i set 3 forward weapons on auto and then i set up 2 aft weapons on auto. I have only 2 aft but i am sure i can set also 3 on aft it just takes some practice and speed :-D

Since there are already people who have found out that you can have multiple weapons on autofire I will explain (as detailed as possible) how to do it so that there won't be an advantage for certain people.
Please notice that I am not sure at this point if it is an exploit to do this, because I am not sure if it is intended or not to only work with 1 weapon. However I agree that it is only an issue of comfort!!!

    Autofireing - step by step:

    1. - Launch game. Enter character. Enter space.
    2. - Activate a programm that increases your upload (delay), like a torrent client or something similar. Set the upload to max.
    3. - When the upload reaches max, deactivate all weapons. Put weapons that face the same direction next to each other.
    4. - Start with one direction. When all weapons are deactivated, right-click all weapons that face the same direction shortly after each other. (without dragging them)
    5. - If not all weapons that face that direction were activated, retry until all weapons that face the same direction are activated.
    6. - Do the same for the other facing.

Advice on how to improve it in terms of using it properly:

    1. - Set a button to "fire all weapons". It will work as a "Start fireing" button.
    2. - Set a button to fire one of the slots you leave one of your weapons in. It will work as a "stop fireing" - button.
    3. - Do not keep more than 3 of the fireing-buttons in the menu bar. They will only block space.
    4. - Set your autofireing mode (Options > Controls > autofireing mode) to "Toggle - never cancel"
...it means that whenever you target the next ship it will be fired upon until you use the "stop fireing button"

I have notices trouble with this however:

-Sometimes your weapons will stop fireing. Then you have to stop fireing and start over.
-Sometimes the weapons stop fireing and dont start even when reactivating autofire. Then you have to mark them for autofire again.
-Sometimes it seems like some weapons take a cooldown even if there is none. (periods of lagg)
Use the "fire all weapons" button until it is over.
-Sometimes your GUI will freeze for a short duration and you cannot use any abilities. (this seems to be a general problem, it could be that the autofireing trick increases the problem)

Have fun with this. Dont abuse it in any way (even though i could not imagine how), or it will get fixed!!!!!
