<Trust of the Hixu>

Are you a fan of Penny Arcade? <Trust of the Hixu> is a Penny Arcade fan-based Federation Fleet for Star Trek Online, currently looking for members to fill up our ranks. We are also a part of the Penny Arcade Alliance.

Our current requirements are:

1) You should be a fan of Penny Arcade. This does not mean you must have an encyclopedic knowledge of everything Penny Arcade, but you should at least have an idea of what it is, and an appreciation of the humor and/or art found there.

2) You should have a mature attitude. While we do not have an age restriction per se, you may have a better time with us if you are old enough to drink, old enough to serve your country in a time of war, or old enough to go to college or university. As with the comic that we are fans of, there will be some occasional adult language. If this is something that offends you or may get you in trouble, you may have a better time with someone else.

3) Don’t be a **** (self-censoring here in respect for this forum’s rules). This was one of the primary rules when Dudefella (Gabe of Penny Arcade) originally created the Penny Arcade Alliance for World of Warcraft. If you are in question about whether or not your actions or behavior may identify you as a ****, you probably are, and should probably stop if you want to remain a part of our fleet. As Dudefella said, “I want people to think of the PAA as people they can count on rather than those ****s from Penny Arcade.”

And that’s about it! So here’s a short Q & A:

Where did <Trust of the Hixu> get that name?

Why, from this Penny Arcade comic!
http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2008/8/13/

What is this Penny Arcade Alliance?

Many many years ago a game called World of Warcraft was unleashed upon the Earth. Gabe (Dudefella) founded a guild with the purpose of having a friendly rivalry with fellow webcomic PvP. Very shortly afterward, it was apparent that the fanbase on that server was too much to be handled by one guild alone, so an alliance of guilds was established to share in the joy of Penny Arcade and enjoyment of the game. Many years have passed, and the Penny Arcade Alliance is still 13 guilds strong on the Dark Iron server. However, the thirst for gaming still grows, and the PAA has started to expand into other games such as WAR, Aion, and now Star Trek Online!

Do I need to play WoW to join <Trust of the Hixu>?

Absolutely not! While the PAA is largely WoW-centric, we are expanding into other games. If WoW is not your thing, that's absolutely fine. <Trust of the Hixu> is all about STO. If you happen to be interested in WoW or any of our other games (and also a fan of Penny Arcade), I hope you'll check out some of our other guilds and communities as well, but it is by no means anywhere near a requirement.

Federation?!? Have you no honor? What about Klingons?
<Trust of the Hixu> will be our Federation Fleet, but we will undoubtedly start a PAA Klingon House if/when the need arises.

So if a fleet that is part of a multi-gaming community with a love for Penny Arcade sounds like something you’re interested in, please post here or send me a PM.

Alternatively, you can head to our PAA forums at http://forums.pa-guilds.org/ and sign up there. You will have to register to view our Star Trek Online section, and I would like to ask that when you register you either do so with your (perceived) main character’s name or @name or STO forum name so we know who you are.

    Welcome aboard.

Also, to anyone checking out the PAA forums, please don't be scared off by the WoW-centric nature of that particular forum. Though WoW-centric, the PAA is expanding into other games in a similar fashion to Gamers With Jobs. We also have a solid group of folks planning to expand into SW:TOR as well.

    I'm very interested in joining.

I'm waiting for Feb 2nd to start playing, so I can play my joined Trill, but after that I 'll be on almost every day.

Just as a clarification, it is highly preferred that you fill out an application under the STO section of our forums at http://forums.pa-guilds.org. Not only does it allow you to give us a little more information about yourself, but it also gives you a chance to interact with our community there too.

Also, I don't tend to check up on this thread too often

Abrogo, Latin for to reppeal, annul, take away (the neck), Aetas Class, Latin for an age, a stage, a period of life, time, or era, Inchoatis class, Latin for unfinished, only begun.

Permoveo [per-mow-veh-o] Class (Latin for: to excite, agitate, stir up, and move)

Permoveo has a ring to it like Excelsior, Sovereign, Ambassador; other classes with the honour of having an Enterprise in their rank. Plus the definition of the name of the class would relate to it being developed. Exciting some people for breaking with tradition while agitating others for the same reason. It stirs up the discussion on whether two necks are better than one. And moving discussion back and forth, and back and forth again, like a tennis match, as sides for and against it argue why it should or should not be a class to have the honour of having the esteamed name of the U.S.S. Enterprise amongst its ranks.

There might a small handfull of people who argue that Permoveo shouldn't be a class name for an Enterprise as the names of the classes who have had that esteamed name amongst their ranks have had names with political and symbolic meaning.

The Constitution class, a documment signalling a growth of a new government.

Excelsior: higher, excellence, and wood shavings [dictionary.com] (probably connecting to the old wooden ships that boldly went out and explored)

Ambassador: A diplomatic official of the highest rank sent from one state to another as its resident representative (or flagship in this case)

Galaxy: A vast collection of stars, waiting to be explored, to be discovered

Sovereign: Having supreme rank, power, or authority

and know Permoveo: Exciting new adventures, agitating some governments as it can't violate the Prime Directive or fulfillling the Omega Directive, stirring up the melting pot of political backwater as it represents what the Federation stands for, and moving from one place to another, exploring, and going to where no man has gone before

Permoveo sounds like a solid fit for this class, espically with all the controversy of it being the so-called-illegitimate-love-child of a Sovereign and an Obreth rather than a male politician and some model or maid. Anyway all this talk about it being a love-child is ridiculous, the Sovereign doesn't have any room. Poor Geordi would have to perform an abortion or the hull would breach!

I'm not sure if this fleet is still around. However, the "real" Penny Arcade fleet is around, for both Fed and Klink. Fed is Arcadian Defense Fleet, Klink is House of Mer'ch.

Send an email to @mellestad for either one and I can get you a fleet invite.

/channel_join "Penny Arcade" works too. Both fleets share that channel, everyone uses the channel, almost no-one uses fleet chat.

If you are a U.S. timeslot there is always someone on who can invite. See you in game!
