ok.. posting this here, because as far as i know this 'looks' like a bug.. not as a 'working as intended'. All durring the Beta there were plenty of us complaining how the Torpedo's were on a shared timmer (i.e. fitting 2 proton torpedo launchers was poitnless as only 1 ever fired, launch one, both launchers timers reset and both had the same delay) Well, i stumbled onto something last night when i 'remade' a character and decided to take the torp off the front of the starting cruiser and equip a 2nd weapon.
And i realized its NOT strickly the torpedo's doing this. You aparently cannot fit 2 of the same 'type' of weapons on a single side and use them both at the same time. Ive tested this with 2 phaser beam arrays, 2 disrupter beam arrays, Phaser cannons, disrupter cannons, their heavy cannon counterparts. If you try to fit 2 identical weapons on the same faceing side.. when you fire one, the other has a 'reuse' timmer all of a sudden. makeing it very difficult to actualy 'fit' more than 1 weapon on your ship.
Now, i did manage to get 2 differnt Types of weapons to fire... i.e. mixing phaser beams with a dirrupter beam.. they seemed to be on different timmers. And the same with a beam + Cannon combo.. different timers. BUT.. if i fitted a phaser cannon + a disruptor Cannon... again.. ran into the 'shared timmer' TRIBBLE. If this is realy 'working as intended'.. its going to be murder trying to fit ships in the higher tiers that have 4 or 5 weapon mounts on either or both ends.
Also.. something else i noticed.. What happend to the auto-fire for ground weapons? Why was that removed?.. because it occasionaly kept you from useing abilities if you didnt time the click right, or stop auto-attackign first?
I did as well. One m mate. It lists the shared timer in tooltips for the torps and says they share a timer so equip your ship accordingly. The longer cooldown torps still cut half their cooldown off if you have 2 so its not a total loss of the 2nd launcher. Its just about how you like to build your ship and what skills you use.
Torpedos and cannons having a global timer each, i'am not sure about phaser.

Another anoying thing is sometimes when i use things like "High Yield" or "Fire at Will" the attack gets cancelled and i get a cooldown for the ability but it didn't fired
Well, my 2 cents to the quirkiness of this "bug",early on in OB I was using 2 quantum torps and 1 dual beamed phaser on my ship, and I couldn't understand why it wouldn't matter weather I had one or 2 top launchers equipped, the result was the same, 3 torps fired with the high yield 2 buff, then one day I decided to fight a Klingon fleet in the Sirius sector (which I normally didn't do because it was meant for below my level) and both torps worked perfectly, I was firing volleys 6 torps everytime, this worked for multiple times on this mission until I went back to the Regulus block and they now no longer worked.
I have noticed this problem myself, another bug to consider here is you can't put two phasers on autofire if thier on the front slots of your ship if you have 1 for and aft then yes you can autofire but you can't do it when you have two phaser weapons on the front of your ship.
i know the argument for torpedo's haveing a shared timmer is an old one.. so im not messing with that one. What im currious about is the Cannons.. and i think sometimes even the phasers themselves. When i equiped 2 cannons to the frunt of my ship.. Both cycled when 1 fired.. when i equiped 2 dirupter BEAMS.. both cycled when 1 fired.. if i put 1 phaser and 1 disrupter.. i could then fire BOTH.... it seemed like everything that was the 'same type' shared a timer. so in the later levels.. in order to 'fully outfit' a escort or cruiser.. i'd have to practicaly have 1 of every type of beam or cannon in the game in order to actualy 'fire all weapons' on the frunt or rear.
So yea.. i can understand the torps.. till they figure out a way to tweak them im not touching that.. but what gives with the Cannons and phaser? Why have those on a shared timmer yet have ships with 4+ faceing weapons?

Not only can't you fire multiple of the same BUT now if you hold down the space bar to fire all beams it does not cycle.
2 patches ago you just held down the space bar and your beams would fire each cycle until you let go. Now you have to release the space bar and press again to have them fire. This is not only annoying but somewhat "illogical"
i realy wish the dev's would reply to these posts.... i mean.. how hard is it for one of them to poke their heads in on the 'gameply' type discussions?.
I can 100% agree with not being able to use 2 torpedo's at once (atleast till they tweak them some) But why can we NOT use 2 of the same ENERGY weapons at once?.. why is every single weapon system in the entire game on the SAME timmer? What is the point of givng any ship more than 2 forward and 2 rear faceing weapons if you cannot use more than 1 weapon at a time?
