Why are male & female height choices the same? This doesn't make sense.
The SHORTEST the game allows female humans to be is 5'6"- two and a half inches taller than AVERAGE. What kind of message does this send to our female players? "Starfleet only takes covergirls?"
If character height (for human based races) is going to have a height range of 11 inches (currently 5'6" to 6'4"), I suggest lowering the female range by about 6 inches (5'0" to 5'10"). This would cover the most common female heights, rather than forcing the female characters into the male height range.

Most common Human female heights. What about the female from the planet Amazonia that is 6'4" then?
But, I get your point... although, shortening leg and torso lengths can shorten the overall height.
I believe the height ranges vary between the different races. When customizing one of my "unknown" race officers, I could actually drop her height to a meter and a half.
Also, this is the 25th century.. medicine advances have pretty much abolished most issues that could cause a reduction on growth rates. So, I'd expect most people to be healthy, tall and slim... eat as much as you want, then ask the transporter guy to "beam out" that BigMac out of your stomach.

Just because a woman is under 5'6" does not mean she has "growth rate issues". On the contrary, addressing growth rate issues would mean people are even more likely to fall within average height ranges- further supporting my OP.

By that logic we would completely fix the growth rate issues and revert everyone back to the heights humans were two thousand years ago.
(omgsh that guy is 4 ft tall, why is he soo tall.)
Okay, I am female and I happen to play one in game. What if I want a 6 ft tall amazon human girl? Just cause it's not something you see every day doesn't mean I don't want to be able to create a person like that. On the other hand, some day I might want to make a 3 ft tall dwarf and I would like the freedom to do so.

Nothing wrong with being able to make a 6' amazon once in a while if you want- but not at the cost of being able to make them at 5'2".
I'm fairly sure 5'6" doesn't qualify as amazonian.
There are a few sliders that affect height. It might require some time and patience, but you can do it.

And how exactly is that better than simply correcting the slider?
btw, nobody said 5'6" is amazonian. I said it is taller than average for women.
The game should include a range of short, average, and tall for each gender. Use the sliders to get OUT of that range, not INTO it.
Male characters start at short, average, or tall. Female characters start at tall, very tall, and amazon. It's broken. All I'm saying, is fix it.

That female would be created using the "unknown alien" template- which does not have the height restrictions I mentioned.

Hm.

5'2" with normal proportions? Good luck.
