Memory leak

ok, i've noticed this the very first time i launched the client..

when the loading screen comes up, no matter what setting, windowed or fullscreen it always tells me that my cursor is corrupt, fixing..

but the cursor remains the regular white arrow, UNTIL the game invariably crashes the dvm.. the dvm recovers and i can continue for a while and now i have (had) the yellow cursor.. whomever is looking into the cursors and changed it last patch to the little grey one, cool.. whatever you did helped, but didn't fix it..

obviously whenever you reset the 3d device (on fullscreen/windowed, multisampling etc etc) the surfaces have to be recreated thus the current resources need to be released.. a bad cursor can be signs of a bad texture atlas implementation, memory handle/caching etc.. try using a hardware cursor to check or at least give the users the option.. even if it's just to see if the cursor issue is a side-effect of a potentially larger issue..

i am CONSTANTLY losing the cursor.. as in, it's gone.. i can still move the mouse and get lucky if it lights something up, but in either space or ground, it's a showstopper for obvious reasons..

a nasty side-effect of this crashing the dvm (i'm on vista ulitmate 64) is that the memory is never released, thus i have gotten up to 4.4 gigs of ram gone and i have to reboot to get it back..

here's the strange part:
recently i was rescuing the ambassadors from the klingons that had planted charges thruout the village. it would lock up on me, so i'd first try to alt tab out and back in thinking that once the 3d device is reacquired it might sort it out.. nope.. so, i do the 3 fingered salute and hit cancel.. that DID cause it to reset and i could continue on a bit further until the next crash.. this happened about 5x until the last time i started getting 'colored sparklies'. i closed out of the game but they were still there on the desktop.. i checked the memory and i was using 83% of my ram (6gigs) however there wasn't anything it was assigned to; aha! memory leak..

i am running a system that is MORE than capable of running just about anything out there right now, in addition to my own 3d work..

i'm running this on the highest automated settings..
