Pathetic...I know your losing sleep, but I am not even getting past the Sol download screen. 2weeks, 4 characters deep of which all failed at the download screen, setting tweaks and god knows how much wasted time and patience. Seriously, I am sure you will figure this out by launch  ...

Can barely get connected only to get disco'd. Lame. I think the game might be cool. Cool enough to buy the lifetime membership.... Too bad i can't get connected long enough to really find out. Maybe they should consider extending the life member deal till end of February.

I was able to access Sol station by setting all graphics to minimum. I hope it can help you.

I can, and have, been accessing Sol and other areas just fine. Here's a few things you can try:

    1. Uninstall client, reboot, reinstall client.
    2. Disable windows firewall temporarily (if you have a router, this should be off anyway).
    3. Open ports on your router's firewall (port numbers are in here somewhere, try dmz for troubleshooting).
    4. Make sure your computer is virus/spyware/malware free.
    5. Turn down video settings to lowest settings in game (from the Starfleet login screen).
    6. If these don't fix the issue, I've seen people on here complaining about cox internet service. If you have Cox, you could try calling them to see if you can petition them opening up the ports for ST:O on their routers.

    Good luck!

I have done all but #1 and #6....I can understand doing number #1 (*giggle*pee) as the last ditch effort, which is where I am at...but at this rate I might as well wait for my hard copy on launch date (any reason I shouldn't?), and #6 six is not applicable to me. I really appreciate the help and input you've provided everyone and Warpedlogic, I have done most of what you have all suggested. I guess I have nothing but one thing is left to do...suuuuuux

I was stuck for two days until at the select character screen, I pressed "back," then went to the options menu and lowered my graphics settings down as far as they go. Got me into Sol, and out, finally.

I can't see any reason why you should wait for release discs unless reinstalling from your directory (that the updater created when it downloaded the client install files) doesn't fix your issue. If it does fix it, then the client will be patched up to retail on the date of head start.

Edit: I would also go here to make sure that your computer can actually run the game.

OK, after looking around a bit and trying a few things, I found a temp fix.
I turned vid resolution all the way down to 800x600, and the graphics quality slider all the way down to bottom, and turned on 'half resolution'. THEN loaded up my game, sure enuff, the loading bar FINALLY went all the way across, and i docked with the station. After i was in, I exited, restarted, and put all the settings back to the way they were, then went into my game. It loaded me up in the station with all settings back the way they were.
I dunno WHAT the deal is with this, I have a good PC and a video card that shouldn't have any problems (GeForce 8500 GT).
I REALLY hope they fix this be4 final release.
