Is it supposed to take your weapons offline (put them on a cooldown) for 15minutes?

I cannot do anything for 15minutes. If this is working as intended, how do i lower that time. 15 minutes seems a bit harsh.

I had a thirty-second engine and weapons failure. Only thing that bugged me about it was that it bypassed shields.

Well I had it where a boarding party added 5 minutes to the cooldown timer. THen I got boarded 4 more times. Aparently it stacks. i had to fit new weapons to overcome the timer. Additionally, all power to weapons which claims to repair damaged systems, does not apper to do that.

if you get done by a boarding party there is only 1 way to get round it afaik.

this is that you ohave the BO ability "Tactial Team" - think that the name of it.
This will basically send your "security" officers on a search and destroy mission and remove the enemy onboard.

Due to this bug it may be handy to have spare BO that has this skill even if you dont normally use it, you can just switch him/her in

Thanks for the replies friends. So Tactical team it is then. I can handle 5 minutes but 15 just made my jaw drop. My own fault in a way i got too close and did not see the boarding parties until they were rummaging through my ships insides. As for stacking, yeah that's what they did.

Boarding parties, stacking, jacking and making Federation ships go into Fetal positions since 2010.

    Very lethal.

I've had 8-minute cooldowns imposed by boarding parties. Worse, they've incapacitated my whole crew and slowed my poor SV and Cruiser down to an absolute crawl. No weapons, no manuverability.

I might have to retrain one of my Tac officers for this. I've also noticed Klingon ships using their transporters to beam directly from their ships to mine.

Have to hand it to Cryptic, they made space combat a real challenge again!

Oh bugga me they transported over as well?

Hah yes yeah they did very well.

Maybe lower the stacking just a little?

So keep at range seems best ;)

I had a 30 min wait after 1 fight. I can see 5 min. but 30, come on. They really need to do something about this. I know this is Beta for a short but how many times a day dose the server need to go down for 2 hrs at a time?

I just first encountered this tonight during the first mission in The Doomsday Weapon episode against the Klingon Battleship class....it destryoed me. I had to switch weapons (thankfully I had some spares). I was up to 20 mins at one point.

I tried targeting and firing on the boarding party shuttles but for some reason my weapons refused to fire at them. Then, to make it worse, the Klingon got me in a tractor beam and froze me in place while it chopped down my escort.

The only good thing was I learned how powerful doublng up cannons is...I almost had that battleship begging for mercy each time until the boarding party and tractor beam got me...Battleship shields mostly down and the hull down to around 20%, but then...BAM - boarded - weapons down - tractor beam - held - BOOM!!! :D

Well, I couldn't complete that mission solo due to this...the timer was insane! That is way to long to be down. I can live with 3-4 minutes...even 5 minutes....but stacking the timer?! That just sucked. I could care less about the tractor beam honestly, it was the boarding party and the timer on my down systems that I am not happy over.

Yes. This does seem like a bug to me. They really should max out at 5-10 minutes instead of stack you all the way to half an hour. I ended up changing ships.

So I got boarded once I think by boarding parties, but had none of the effects as I think their ship blew up before they could do any damage. Im a science vessel with repulsar beam. It moves just about everything off me. Does anyone know it it gets those shuttles? I know people complain of not being able to shoot them down. I don't get that cause I would think that a torp is smaller than a shuttle sooooo.

I've been disabled now for 36m, half before the downtime and half after. Sending my security to root them out didn't work. They must be hiding well.

So I just been keeping busy trying to do Patrol missions looking like I am really fighting by yelling 'pew pew pew' as i fly around the BoP.

    7 days til live right?

Haha mate you've got it easy you only had 15 minutes I had atleast 30 odd minutes last night and that was JUST for my torpedoes alone all I could do was fire my ****y turret or boarding parties of my own and to top that off I didn't even had a countdown for my phasers and once the the torpedoes would fire again I had to wait a further 6 minutes for phasers. I literally sitting duck although I made a good damage sponge in my crusier for the rest of group.

This is really ridulous if it is a bug fair enough but if it is intented please fix it. It should only have a 5 minute maximum I mean I wanna play the game not flying around between ships dreaming of how much I could TRIBBLE them up If i had weapons. At if there isn't a fix for the insane times there should be a fix of reducing instead of buying a new bridge officer I ended up searching 2 star bases to find one with the skills I want which took around 30 minutes. If i was to find one with the security team I might as well not bother. You should be able to go to the ship vendors or personall and requisition a security team for 100 energy credits to fix it.

I got hit by multiple boarding parties in the doomsday device also a little while ago. I managed to fly back to Sol, train an officer to remove the parties, and fly back and I still can't lower the timers at all and have 26 minutes to go. Which sucks TRIBBLE. This has to be a bug, as my boarding parties knock the enemy systems offline for maybe 10 seconds, max.

Edit: Oh, the best part is when the enemy launches multiple boarding parties after the first one knocked out your weapons. There's no defense at all at that point to having the counter jump up into the half hour range.

Yeah I got nailed tonight too on the Doomsday weapon mission. 18 minute timer. Couldn't even use BO skills. Couldn't target the shuttles either.

    Just a nasty bug.

This hit me yesterday, also on that ship in the Doomsday Device mission. I'm still unable to do anything. My disruptors won't fire, my torpedo has a time limit that seems to keep resetting. Occasionally I can fire my cannons, but that's it. Very frustrating. I was hoping to enjoy the last few days of beta, but it looks as though I'm not going to be able to play it at all. :(

Nothing I do fixes it. Logging in and out, dying, dropping the mission, leaving the map, switching out weapons, using that security team ability. Nothing. Likewise, when this happened, I was unable to fire on the boarding party shuttles at all. Absolutely game breaking bug, as there's nothing at all I can do space-wise.

I found that unequiping and then re-equiping my weapons removed the timer but only after combat ended.

Do we agree this is an overpowered ability and/or bug? I see some people saying you just need better tactics like Fire at will to hit multiple boarding party shuttles on the way in and Security team to take them out when they have boarded. I admit I am not using either of those things but this still seems impossible to me.

In Doomsday Device, that warship launched boarding shuttles which I was not able to target or fire at so they just flew right in. Next thing I know my weapons are offline so right there, thats game over. How can I possibly do anything with no weapons for 5+ minutes? I'm thinking maybe boost shields until the weapons come back but right after the weapons go down, all my shields suddenly drop. No weapons and no shields and the warship tears me apart.

Is this a bug or am I just really missing something?

Wrong. If you have an engineeer in your team (a player) then he got a skill to get up disabled systems. Really handy :)

Only thing i was wondering was that the timer was still there after dieing.. i petitioned it, see what will come out.

Alright so it seems that either Cryptic are very sadistic or we have some stackin jackin going on. Nice to know (and also not so nice) that my 15minutes seems minuscule compared to others. Let's hope we'll get some clarification down the track.

ok the boarding parties of the npc are a real pain sorry to say
error one u cant shoot the boarding party shuttles down for what ever reason even when i traget them my phasers kept firing on the main ship secons i havea office withthe skill tactical team and have it even skilled to like 7 or 8 but that dose not do anything timers dont change so i sit around and do nothing for 15 min FUN Really fun guys

maybe the devs should look into this and change so they dont stack timmers or that the tactical team skill works or maybe just so we can shoot down the boarding shuttles that alone would already help

They better squash this bug before live. Paying customers won't play this if they have to be neutered for hours in sector space because they can't reduce this. Heck, even let returning to space dock wipe it out since space dock would do repairs and do a security sweep of the ship as well.

whats funny is last night when the bug got game crippling for a very large portion of people, they took the servers down and everyone was actually glad they did thinking they were going to fix the bug but instead they screwed up some sound files, fixed a isinia error for uniforms and changed the mouse cursosr and left the game crippling bug.

Try using my tactic, where boarding parties are more prominent, i.e crusier classes the second you see them spawn, either some sort of AoE, torp spread, fire at will, scatter shot etc. Or the way I do it is to use Tykens Rift from my sci boff, creates a black hole with a dot on your target that lasts for quite some time, I have yet to be hit by a boarding party but lol repeatedly at those who do. Also if you lack those abilitys, simply turn sharply and use evasive manouvers to speedily get some range while your aft weps pick them off.

    Regards :)

To reset the cool down period, when not in combat open ship status screen un-equip weapons and then equip them again the cool down and frozen weapons are reset :D job is a gooden!

That would be nice but you can not target the boarding parties for some reason. I usually pick them off before they get too close but today I can not target them or anything. Then they sit behind you like power suckers and keep hitting you. each shuttle should be a one time hit. They don't seem to die. They just keep hitting you giving crazy times. Thats the bug. They made them invincible non targets and now they get to rampage you till you have half an hour times.
    Easy fix, I would think.

ya should just be a matter of capping th cd's it adds. Nice lengthy time for those people who cant target the ships and dont have security team ability but not game disabling. Probably something around a 1 minute cd. Maybe some other stat can like speed up repairing the damage down depending on crew availability thus making the cd tick down even faster.

Say they brought weapons down, if you have a high skill rank in energy weapons and good amount of crew left, even if the cd says 1 minute cd maybe it starts ticking down a 3 or 4 second intervals per second or something, effectively quartering the cd.
