Severe Lag Going Back to Sol.

Just got the game up and running today. I admit my machine is on the lower end of recommended specs (2.2g with 2 g ram). I played the whole beginning scenario with not even a twitch. At the end, I am warping back to Sol for my promotion ceremony and BBQ and the load bar gets to about 95% to the end and just sits there. Its been 15 minutes and moves 1 tick (pixel) per minute or so... Is this normal?

i got the same thing happening to me right now same spot
The servers are full, you can see that notice every time you start up the launcher. It's right there. Server capacity is at it's max so they've ordered aditional servers.

i was playing when it happened to me so thats not why

Have left mine running for 6 hours eventually it pops up like it's loaded except for the red text stating you've been disconnected from the server. I think our connections are being dropped during that load and there's no catch so it just continues to try and load for a long time. I haven't been able to play for 2 days now because I'm caught just like you in the load of trying to finish the tutorial. Not much of a game if I can't get past the tutorial.

The problem is it doesn't always report that and will let you begin the load then apparently lock up using 95% processor and never recover, you have to basically end task on the GameClient.exe and that's a bit of bug.

Apparently you cant READ...we get NO indication the server is full. It lets us on to character selection and then proceeds to the load in for SOL

NORMALLY when the server is full you cannot even get to character selection.

I've played the beginning scenario 4 times and it is still doing the same thing. No problems during the game and just sits there... no warning and no error message.

Grrr, the game is now unplayable for me as both my characters require the Sol System to load in order for me to play at all. Still not working.

Lame, first time trying the game out, and game freezes up trying to load sol.

Also, when are we going to be able to play Klingons?

i also posted this under the Loadscreen Problems thread, but both my characters are stuck at the Sol screen at the finish of the tutorial stage. the progress bar gets to between 50% & 75% and then just sits there. the program is still running, the game messages at the bottom of the screen continue to change, but that's it. i've tried relogging a few times, tried letting it just sit for a while a couple times in the hopes that eventually i'll get through, but no success.

Yep. Borked on Sol. Stuck on load. Looks like it's another maintenance downtime coming very soon...

Same here, Fang. Except i get to about 98% filled bar. Really frustrating. Do I need to bring this to a Mod or Developer? Do they really read these posts? If so, I haven't heard from anyone...

    I'm having the same problem.

I haven't noticed that the Devs actually get on these forums and respond to our problems. I'd rather that they were doing their job and fixing these things but, it would still be nice to let us know that our plight has been noticed.

I'm having this exact same problem and its really frustrating. At first I thought it was just me. Very relieving to know I'm not the only one.

Same thing. If I get hung up going from a sector to a system, it is always the Sol system. This is really a major pain in the butt. There is no indication whatsover the server is full or anything. I login, click my character, the Sol System screen comes up, the loading bar goes most of the way across then stops. A minute or so later, it will move a teeny bit, and thats it.

I've also noticed an overall increase in lag, not just the sol system.

Same here... all tutorial goes fine until the Sol System... counter freezes in half and no way it will budge further. Oddly enough, the game still seems working, my modem shows connection, but... thats it =(

I'm having the same problem. Has there been any update on it or should I just uninstall the game and move on to one that I can play?

I am having the same problem on my home PC, (running Win XP SP3 3.2 GHz (not a core 2 ) 4 GB of ram, dual Nvidia GeForce GTS 250), freezes about 50-70% into load screen.... but it runs great on my new dell at work no loading problems. It would seem that it is a hardware problem. still working on it ill keep you updated.

Other than the current problem it is a great game.

I probably need a motherboard, CPU amd Memory upgrade.:(

I would have thought that they would have fixed this "Bug" by now as it happens every time you try to load up the Sol System even after the first return to Sol mission, and has been having this problem for some time now.

Try setting your graphics to absolute minimum. And don't cheat and leave a few things on, turn EVERYTHING to MINIMUM. This works for me and has worked for many others. I'm not sure what causes it and I don't know if there's been anything done to fix it, but before I enter or leave Sol, I drop everything to minimum, get in, do my business, get out, and put my graphics back to normal.

Try it and see if it doesn't work. It's almost like magic. Instead of waiting 6 hours you'll wait like 15 seconds.

If this has been happening for some time then yes, it should certainly be on the top of their list of bugs to fix. It happens so close to the beginning of the game and it makes one wonder if they are fixing anything at all. I'm really hoping that this isn't another one of those games that these fly by night companies just throw out to make a few million and have no intention of following through.

I played beta Champions Online and the first couple weeks of it's live opening. They dropped the ball on that one too. I just hope I'm wrong about this one but, a bug like this so close to the beginning of game that's being overlooked makes me wonder.

i wouldn't exactly refer to Cryptic as a 'fly by night' company, but there have been a few articles online that have observed perhaps they've put a bit more attention into this release over Champions. that works just fine for me since i've already played a couple years' worth of Cryptic's original superhero MMO :D

besides, determining server max capacity is pretty standard considering how close the launch date is... don't assume this is indicative of how release will play out.

And, this word is GOOD! Fire up the login portal, go to Options, and select Safe Mode. Cleared the problem for me, anyway...
