STO == Computer Turning Off

I don't see this issue posted anywhere else, so can assume I'm just unique.

STO loads and runs fine on my setup for about 5 to 10 minutes, then my computer just shuts off. As if the PSU were overheating. I've checked out everything and all my components are good. Plus, it's only happening with STO. I run WoW and a bunch of Steam games without a problem. My buddy mentioned something about STO not working well with ATI and I am running an ATI Radeon HD 4850 (I think) but I haven't seen anything here that's got the same report and he couldn't find his source. I'll supply info or reports as requested... I just have no idea could be causing this issue.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3.00 GHz
RAM: 2 GB
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4850

tldr; My computer shuts off when it runs STO. It doesn't do it while running anything else.

EDIT: Forgot, I am running STO via Steam if that makes a difference.

    I have the HD 4870 and had the gpu temperature at 97 degrees, only thing I can suggest is to open up Catalyst Control Center and monitor your cards GPU temperature, as it might be spiking causing system shut down, either that or CPU.

    Go no other ideas.

    Ok... so I thought I had done everything already, but it seems when I upgraded to Windows 7 it didn't keep the ATI drivers. I installed the new ones, just for kicks, and it hasn't shut off on me yet... I'm cautiously hopeful, but will report back.

    There is deffo an issue around where ATI cards runing the latest drivers are being run very hard by the game.

    This is coursing heat issues for many people.

    For me turning post processing effecs fixed it, other have turned different things off to resolve it.

    What exactly did you do to fix it caldrin? I thought it was fixed but it just cut off again. I was hopeful... it ran for almost 2 hours without a problem. I'll look through the video effects and check the temp settings, but I'm really not sure exactly what I'm looking to change yet.
