Hey 5 hours ago i bought star trek off it, im downloading it saying it would take 5 hours to download...its on 33%....and so i pressed launched which means it's updating the game so I can play when im ready and it's updating it.. it's taking 13 hours...do I have a problem with my computer or have their been a lot of updates since? or is it normal?

    You shouldn't be able to download the game and launch it at the same time, it's impossible...

    you also cannot play untill the game as finised installing updates.

    Be careful guys not to mess up "update" and "update" ;)

    The message "updating" in Steam in this case means "updating content until you have everything", as you pressed launch while initial download was just at 33% after 5 hours, it's now "updating" in terms of downloading the missing 67% of your original installation. Having needed 5hours for 33%, 10hours for the remaining 67% is "ok".

    Furthermore it does NOT mean "so I can play when im ready" but "so i can play when the download has finished".

    I took me ~1 hour at 1,6MiB/sec for the original installation. The update itself is then done via the Star Trek Online Launcher (which itself is what is launched when you doubleclick the STO icon in the Steam Games Panel). Select a different/better fitting download region and restart steam, this should increase DL speed a lot.

    ummm ya i..think i know what your talking about. Thanks i tried what you did but it didn't make much difference so ill just wait.only 8 hours to go :D
