Ok,
So I just recently started playing the open beta and there are bugs galore after the fact that the damn initial loading screen takes like close to 1 hour to get past. Is this really even close to a final product its like watching some amateur developer try and release a major game. The engine is a joke because people with even higher end hardware then mine is having issues. So yet another joke of a star trek PC game. For this game requiring a dual core CPU it really does not run well on one.
What are your specs?
Also, the first part of the loading screen is actually a connecting to server stage, the map loading is relatively fast, for me anyway. Around 10 seconds.
EDIT: And a description of the bugs would be helpful as well.
I'm running STO on my laptop. It's a little on the slow side, but it plays the game at medium(-ish) specs fairly decently. And the initial loading screen only takes about 30 seconds for me. Since it IS a connection screen, maybe it's a problem with your internet connection, and not your computer itself?

Something is quite wrong here as I have never had to wait longer than oh maybe 20 secs for any load screen to finish. And that's on a Vista Intel 1.5 dual core w/9500GT card 4gigs mem.
Unless I'm playing on my older single core machine which actually runs the game great just takes a very long time to load screens (15-20 minutes sometimes which is unacceptable but the game will run on my AMD 3800+ single core w/9500GT card.

Well, I don't understand what's your point. It's pretty normal that newer games are trying to use NEW technology. As a couterpoint to your post, I can say that there's more people complaining about games lacking support for multi core cpus than those with one core, complaining about game requiring two.
Dual core CPUs are almost a thing of the past, QUAD is now just standard.
You must try to understand, that one core CPU is just not enough. It's like trying to use black-white TV to view Sky HD, and complaining that "it no worky".
Hope you can still enjoy the game, or save for upgrade.
Regards
I actually have a high-end computer, but not the fastet internet in the world, and have absolutely no problems with the loading screen.
Yup, there are bugs, but it's BETA not TRIAL... and if You see bugs - please report them; this will help us all enjoy the game.
Anyway, I really strongly believe that STO is making huge progress almost daily. For me the biggest issue is the bug with Delta Volanis that kicks me out of the game. Hope that this will be resolved soon.
